  1. Ok...I'll be the outcast. I like it! But I want mine to come with a coffee cup and cell phone holder. lol
  2. In and sitting. Oh geez….news flash…. It’s windy!
  3. Looks like a great place to be sitting. Mind blowing to me that no deer showed up in such a location. My sit last night was also a bust. What looked like was going to be an exciting year, turned out to be one with the fewest sightings or opportunities since I've owned my property. I'll go out for the last couple of hours today and then I think it's a wrap for me.
  4. All settled in. Trying something new. See if I can catch them crossing my tractor roadway between bedding area and the brushy travel corridor.
  5. Good luck! We will watch for pictures! I stayed in this morning, because with my lung infection, yesterday hunting in the deep, wet snow whipped my a$$! Headed out now though. Very few tracks here, but I just can't let that get to me.
  6. Where I am in 7M, the numbers at least on my property, are way down. My trail cameras are always loaded with coyote pictures, and even a couple bobcat pics. I'm absolutely thick with coyotes here. I now have the name of young guy they say is really geared up and into killing them, so I will be giving him the green light to kill everyone he can as soon as deer season closes. Yesterday's snowfall was wet, heavy and deep. It is over my knees. So the snow really restricted the movement of what deer are around. But up to this point, there was enough light snow on the ground to tell the tale of what's out there. Every year for as long as I have owned my place, the fields are predictably entirely covered in tracts all over the place, not just trails, but where they chase each other all night, and where they have been feeding. This year there has been none of that. It's like a ghost town compared to other years. Last year I saw bucks I think almost every time out. This year just one on opening day, with the exception of the small one being chased by dogs during bow season.
  7. Sorry to hear about the cold. Me and the wife got knocked on our rear ends by severe cold/flu symptoms that settled into our lungs. Good grief, here we go again this season. This time I'm sure I know where it came from. We attended my grandson's first Tae Kwon Do tournament last weekend and there were 400 plus competitors there, of all ages. You just know someone in that crowd would be contagious! lol It was worth missing the last regular season weekend though to be there for him. Just a week shy of 6 years old, and he won first place medals in both his events, speed kicking and board breaking. Good to see he's got strong little legs. He's gonna need them when I start having him drag deer for me. hahaha I sat for about 2 hours this morning then got down to sneak about the woodlot. I figured out quickly that they were not going to move much in such deep snow trying to conserve energy. I very slowly did about a 300 yard circle and never cut one track. After making my way back to my wheeler I pulled a camera card that is over my bone pile, then back to the house. On the way down I cut tracks in two places where they crossed the fields and were pawing at the ground eating. In a few minutes I'm headed back up the hill. This time with a pop up blind and seat. I'll stick it in the brush facing where they were foraging earlier, and see if I can catch one during the evening watch.
  8. In stand in pine tree. Snowy snowy snowy! Like being a little kid on a snow day! Playing outside!
  9. Sick or not, I'm out there in the morning with the MZ. : )
  10. When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about the people who left and went to a different site. lol Those rooms look like a very nice place to kick back after a cold day hunting in the woods.
  11. Home sick today (not Covid) so I have time to catch up on who's doing what. Congrats on the deer and recovery. That's a nice buck!
  12. I bet it was. In the woods, there should be no problem hearing the coming this morning, Good luck. No hunting for me this weekend. Spending the day watching my grandson in his first Tae Kwon Do this morning and his singing in a Christmas concert in the evening, then tomorrow his birthday party. Busy weekend for the little guy, and I wouldn't think of missing it.
  13. I’ve been just waiting to see how many that pissed and moaned about the political section on this site, bashed this site in general, continuously stirred the pot and attacked like a pack those that did not fall in line with them, would show their hypocrisy by coming back to this site and this section in particular.
  14. Yup! Brings back great memories! My first shotgun was a bolt action 20 gauge, one in the chamber and either 2 or 3 shot clip, that came from Montgomery Wards. : )
  15. I tired to post this morning but computer acted up. For the next bunch of days I’ll be relying on all of your pictures and posts to keep my hunting spirits up. After the past two weeks off, I’m back at work in the clinic this morning. Good luck everyone! Stay safe!
  16. Congrats on the buck. Sucks that it was infected. Will you be able to get a replacement tag, and what DMU do you hunt?
  17. I don't think it's a sign of being lazy as much as the reality that many of us have a lot of responsibilities that compete for our limited head space. It sucks when you sit there on stand thinking about everything that needs to get done elsewhere. I know for me there are days I just admit to myself that I'm going to be thinking about everything other than hunting so I talk myself out of going, or if I do go hunting, I pull the plug early and head back to the house. Believe it or not; there have been several times over the years I have called to check on my patient's while hunting. One time in particular, years ago, the nurse on the other end asked me why I was whispering. When I told her I was in a pine tree deer hunting she cracked up laughing and told me quit calling and go back to hunting.
  18. In the swamp. Close quarters. Shotgun only in here. If happens it will be 5 to 30 yards at the most. Fingers crossed!
  19. Happy Anniversary! Must be great minds do think alike! Yesterday was our 44th anniversary, and we too had pizza (and Utica greens) for dinner. And, believe it or not, even though neither of us are sick at this point, she chose to eat at home and the pizza. : ) Speedy recovery to you both!
