  1. May this be his quickest recovery yet! : ) Get well soon Kunox!
  2. I loved Louie Anderson as a comedian! He was freaking hysterical telling his stories with that unique voice. My wife and I went to see Louie many years ago at the Turning Stone Casino, laughed like hell, and met him back stage afterwards. He was gracious and genuinely friendly towards us, and I actually cracked him up laughing. We also have a picture here of us together. Rest in peace, Louie.
  3. Amen! And when I completed my doctorate she surprised me with a ring with a black stone and small diamond chip in it. She remembered I used to sing her a favorite country song of mine that said, "I'm just an old chunk of coal, but I'm gonna be a diamond someday!" : ) Did I mention as an 18 y/o kid I bought her engagement ring by laying black top and hand mowing (like chain gang stuff..lol)the side of highways for the town of Barneveld, NY during the day, and feeding horses and mucking stalls nights and weekends? I would walk downtown Utica every week (didn't have a car yet) to make payments at the jewelry store. She still wears that ring!
  4. I've had one since I was 18 (just before we got married at 19), and 43 years later I still can't finish it!
  5. hahaha Disco? To steal a familiar line from someone we all know, C'mon man! You must be pulling our leg. Check his music videos out online if you really do not know or remember who he is. And, I challenge anyone to try and listen to Paradise By The Dashboard Light while driving and avoid getting a speeding ticket! lol For me it's sort of like any of Springsteen's music, Tom Petty, or random songs like Radar love, when they are playing loudly in my truck my gas pedal gets a mind of it's own.
  6. You could tell that rock was bad, because it had a long rip rap sheet, and was stoned all the time. : )
  7. "Ain't no doubt about it we were doubly blessed. We were barely 17 and we were barely dressed"! RIP Meatloaf. Listened to him on my ride back from Rochester tonight. Then took the wife out for dinner so I could have meatloaf as a tribute to a great singer of the music from my youth.
  8. I was blessed to find the right one from the start. High school seniors, different schools, total different upbringing and socio economic backgrounds, and her parents said "he'll never amount to nothing". At 19 years old we married (1978), and have been each others best friend and partner as well as spouse, through some terribly difficult times in this life journey. Always there for each other, and after all these years it still has not changed! Her parents were right about one thing though, I did not ever amount to a "nothing", which they ultimately came to realize and acknowledge. Never would they have imagined the poor kid from the projects they did not want their daughter to marry, would someday be called, Doctor. : )
  9. Basically same idea as a T-bar, but one sided as I remember.
  10. Some of my best times as a teenager were when I was skiing! I only went once after starting and raising my family. Although I was really over weight and out of shape, I surprised the hell out of my buddy who asked me to go with him. He cracked up and said "holy shit you really can ski", when I went swooshing down the slope. lol And, I cracked up laughing when we first were gonna go up/down the bunny hill as my first re-entry to skiing, and a little kid came over to hand me the rope tow saying "here Mister let me help you!". hahaha As a teen I basically lived on the small slopes in Utica, NY, Val Bialis. And on weekends when my Uncle would let me tag along, Snow Ridge, McCauley Mountain, Oak Mountain, and Gore. Oh...and now I told my SIL I want him to go skiing with me down to Bristol, skiing for the first time in about 25-30 years! At 62 years old, 63 in March, the "war on Covid" has kicked my ass and mind at many levels as a provider, but it also drove me to make dramatic changes in my own life, mostly out of fear it would kill me if I did not. In the end it almost actually did kill me somewhat directly/indirectly! But at this point, while I have some medical obstacles to overcome still with my overall health picture, I am pretty much back to where I was in my senior year of high school weight and lab value wise, and I'm ready to tackle the slopes again. Perhaps a bit slower and more careful though! : )
  11. My drive back to Rochester every Monday for my work week is 2 1/2 hours. Glad to have tomorrow off this week.
  12. Does it really matter? Medical professionals are split on it as well. The short answer is, "yes". At least to me it matters. One should always consider the source. That is not to say a person's thoughts and opinions are not worthy of respectful consideration, and, anyone can offer their thoughts and opinions on anything. That's fine! However, unless they have actual education, and /or demonstrated professional experience in any area; that is all it is, thoughts and opinions. Giving more than a grain of salt, or heaven forbid making important (in this case) medical decisions based on the advice of those who are basically practicing outside their scope of practice is dangerous. I would no more ask a restaurant cook to come out of the kitchen to advise me on some serious medical concern I might have than I would ask/or trust my primary medical provider go into the kitchen to fix me an exceptional meal. In either instance it would be a role of the dice. I might get lucky and get a doctor who can actually cook, but on the other hand I might just get food poisoned. Of course in which case he/she might have the know how to heal me from that! lol There are some pretty bright people in the world, and those who have successfully worn many different professional hats. But everyone has their ultimate area and level of expertise, and no one can possibly be an expert on everything. I do not trust those who feel the need to come off as now it alls, and think everyone would be best served staying in their lane. Or at a minimum; being honest and issuing a disclaimer to their statements, " I am not an expert on this subject, but I think..."! Oh....and to be fair, I too will share. I'll not give my entire bio here, but those curious or interested can always contact me. DNP, RN, PMHNP-BC, ANP 31 years nursing at all level from LPN to Doctor. Licensed in multiple States. Psychiatric/medical provider.
  13. For the sake of honesty, better understanding, and full transparency, would everyone here weighing in with all these clinical opinions and pearls of wisdom please care to share exactly what their level of medical education is, and what field of medicine they practice. Thank you.
  14. Not just the light! : O You need to open a secret hatch under the wheel well and shove your hand up in there and unlock a latch, then with the hood up you need to unhook the quick clips on the cover over the front of the engine compartment/radiator/etc, and then remove the grill, then several bolts including a couple way down deep in there with a long socket extension in order to pull the whole light assembly out. Thank goodness for Youtube or I would have been paying someone to do it. Went smooth enough, but took me about 45 minutes from start to finish.
  15. What's to see here? Fake news will say, "mostly peaceful shoppers!"
  16. Love my 2016 Ram quad cab! It's loaded with all the amenities, rides like a dream, sounds like it means business but not offensive. Only complaint I have is the Biden gas prices have pushed my gas bill for going back and forth to work five days a week to about 100$. And, when I had to replace a headlight bulb it required pulling the whole frigging light assembly out of the front of the truck. lol. I can laugh now, but having gotten used to just swapping out bulbs in every other vehicle we have ever owned, this was a royal pain in the ass, and had me thinking I might have to hand in my man card and pay someone do it for me. Replaced it myself and kept my man card!
  17. I love up close and personal with my Remington 1187. We have taken many deer over the years, before rifle was allowed in the Southern Tier. She is old, experienced, and shows the signs of her age and time afield. Just like her owner! : )
  18. If you look at my post you will see I never mentioned anything about what side I was referring too. I never said "who" is unable to stop themselves from spewing the "hate filled rhetoric". I left that for the reader to determine. I think it is very telling you assumed it was in reference to the tactics of "lefties". Very telling indeed! One would only need to go back and read the posts from each member to get a clear picture of who has dragged this site into the gutter. I have watched this over time, mostly from the side lines. The posts speak for themselves. Please feel free to go back and read any of my posts. You will find I have been out spoken about the name calling and bullying that has been going on. I don't think it has any place here or anywhere for that matter, and has been tolerated for far to long in my very humble opinion. So with that said, Happy New Year, no hard feelings, and nice to meet you, Kettle. Respectfully, Pot
  19. And we have now seen their hate filled tactics employed successfully here even on this site. Stir the pot with unhinged name calling rhetoric to the point you drag others down to your level and then whine and complain until you accomplish your ultimate goal of shutting up people with opposing views. Cancel culture now on full display even here!
  20. Don't I know it! And I have some plans to finally build a long overdue, comfortable, elevated and enclosed blind like some of the ones I have seen on this site. He should be pretty darned nice next year if he makes it through the winter and avoids getting hit crossing any roads.
  21. It totally blew my mind when I saw him on the picture. I'm in Sangerfield. He walked past a trail camera I put up about 50 yards from one of my stands not only to get deer pics but to keep some sort of eye on my tractor that is parked up there. I cropped the pic so it would not take up so much space when I posted it, but in the original picture you can actually see the back lights on the tractor shining from the flash of the camera. The bear was about twenty yards from my tractor and walking straight towards it.
  22. @Grampy. Rather than having to read through the posts, is it possible to keep a running list here of who will be attending? If so, thank you!
  23. Sorry! it was 2 am on the 29th, snowing, and I have what I think are probably cheap cameras. It was the first time I ever even opened the package of, I think 3 of them, and put them out. I used trail cameras when they first came out years ago, but not for many years. I'll see if I can enhance the picture tomorrow to make it easier for you to see. My wife said the same thing when I showed her the post. I on the other hand saw the bear immediately when I put the card in my computer. Maybe because I hunted the many times in the 90's in Canada and acquired a keen eye watching out for them, fearful I was going to get mauled and/or eaten. lol
  24. Owned my property since 1990, and its the first bear I have ever seen here. Very cool!
  25. Trying to post a pic of the buck I think gave me the slip today. Let's see if this works.
