I can't help but to agree with you however I was just asking the opinions of the members here as to whether or not they will shoot him I know what I would do I would shoot but there's a little bit of curiosity inside me that says what if I let him live another year how much bigger would he get would he grow to maybe 10 will he be a12 pt. how much mass would he potentially get. Part of human nature to be curious. Anything with antlers tickles me but there is always that what if.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

apoallo replied to apoallo's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
No not a wall hanger at all! Def good groceries Thanks Biz! After he poped up on my cam it was a thought if I would or not. my gut says NO but my index finger has been getting a bit itchy since last year. If I didn't get that 8 pt last year and this guy was in front of me I would have blasted him, but now, I feel like I should have higher standards.... lol idk I got spoiled from last year. I feel like I am thinking more like trophy hunter but still wanting a ton of meat in the freezer as well.. -

I have this 6 point on my trail cam from a few days ago. He looks young but I am on the fence about if I would shoot him given the chance...... I don't have any pictures of his body. I placed the camera to high on the trunk of the tree.. I think he will grow some more by opening day of rifle /shotgun. any age predictions?? and I figured Id add this last picture because it reminded me of Growalot's avatar picture face wise

Any old timer's want to help a young buck out?
apoallo replied to Caveman's topic in General Chit Chat
im 29, but i think at your age you dont need to overly worry about a career. I just got hired in my choosen career path November 1st of last year. I was making in the 12.00 to $13.00 per hour range for YEARS!!! no matter what job I went to i was stuck. I finally decided I wanted to get into a Public school district. Union Benefits retirement plus NYS pension I get to work with my hands and brain Im in the Maintenance dept.. I wanted job security, a guarenteed raise every year plus good retirement plan.. Most importantly I wanted something I could help support my family with. I have a wife and an 18 month old son. I do not have a college degree of any sort. I think Belo said it best. " I think very few people truly "love" their jobs, and what I mean by that is would you do it for free or a greatly reduced paycheck? For example, racecar driver, playboy photographer, outdoor guide etc. I do not love my job, I barely even like it. But it challenges me enough to keep it interesting and provides enough of a paycheck to support the things I do love in life (hobbies and family). I think as long as you don't dread going to work (of course nobody wants to go to work) and you're not overly stressed and the job is taking a toll on your health and family then most jobs are just that. Jobs.:" It took me a LONG time to get into a school district I worked 1 full time job as a custodian for a crappy nonprofiot organization for a few years and had 2 other part time jobs being a substitute custodian for 2 other public schools for a few years untill I was hired full time. Now I only need this one job.... Bust you A$$ and always do the right thing and good things will come to you. -
yikes put it out of its misery

true but this issue would be hard to blame directly on cva. For all I know it could have been my fault. Maybe I double threaded it by mistake and that's the result..... who knows. but yes someone will say they told me so. all I care about is that CVA is taking care of it...
-
Great news I just spoke to the representative from CVA and they are sending me out a new frame for the muzzleloader because those threads are shot. So far extremely happy with CVA customer service Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

So after I shot the muzzleloader for the first time about a dozen shots or so I disassembled and cleaned everything I took out the firing pin bushing the spring and the firing pin clean them and went to put them back in and discovered that the bushing would not go in all the way and sit flush against the receiver so I took it out took a flashlight looked inside the threads and discovered that there is a gap in the threads in the receiver where the bushing screws into clear as day hole so I contacted CVA customer service which are great and sent them a picture and they will be sending me a whole new received If you zoom in on the pictures you are able to see the whole that I am talking about in the threads which is preventing me from screwing the bushing all the way and seating at flush against the receiver. Now just waiting to her At from the CVA Rep Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

its only me in my family that eats it. so luckly I don't have to share. But usually I get 1 a year. this year I am hopeing for 3 2 for my freezer and my friend wants a whole one for himself so after I shoot it he is gonna pay for the butchering
-
I just cut some of the fat off and down the hatch it goes.
-
Great thanks!!! I figured the manufacturer just said you have to use their anti rust because they wanted the $$$ but just wanted to make sure.

very nice I have one myself in .270 and she is a dream. I don't think I can go 1 year without buying a new firearm

welcome you will find many many different answers to your questions from this site. So ill start with my own opinions and other people will give you something different most likely . You just have to take the advice and find something that will work for you the best. Again these are my answers in number order. 1 Blinds do work, however they can be cumbersome. I don't llike carrying them around so I hunt from the ground and find a nice wide tree or rock wall. I have used a blind twice and will always prefer sittingagainst a tree or wall. 2. There are sssooo many different scents and lures out there and they all claim theirs are the best. I have been using buck bomb just for the conveience of the spray can. I just use it around my immediate area where I am sitting to help cover up any scent I am giving off. 3 I use 99% I have their laundry detergent, deordorant, breath spray, shower soap, and the spray that goes one all of my layers of clothing. I feel you can NEVER use too much descenter spray. 4 Look for any scrapes, rubs, trails(I look for these the most) bedding areas, food sources. When I scout I go into the heavest thickest stuff you can find. . look for area that you would never want to go into and think that nobody else would go into either. That's probably the area where you should go.. as far as different informational sites. I use only one and that's this site. there are tons of people, and you will get to know the names of the people that seem to know the most just by posting and asking questions. search past threads if you have a question most likely it has already been answered or talked about. but never feel afraid to post something. Just try and post your topic into the right topic area this way it makes the moderators jobs easier so they don't have to sort through each post and put them where they belong... Happy hunting!!!!

I didn't try swabbing after each round. Ill probably be able to get a few more shots then....
-
shot my cva for the first time today. Now I know why muzzleloading isn't as popular as rifles. I have to clean the bore after 2 shots. otherwise I cant get the sabot down all the way.. Now I just have to get the right flat head screw driver to take out the bushing and spring with firing pin. . Even thou there is a lot of work that goes into firing a few shots I like it a lot. makes me appreciate our modern firearms more. Def hooked on the muzzleloader thou. Just gotta find a better bullet. the federal fusions do not group very consistently at 80 yards. so I wasn't even gonna try it at 100+

So in other words I do not have to use the special stuff they sell. I can just use like hopps #9 or any gun oil Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
