Sandy Hook Exposed?
joe12 replied to Geno C's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I am not a conspiracy theorist but I could definitely see the politicians and their propaganda arm (the "main stream media") spin and embellish certain things to push their left wing anti gun agenda. We haven't even had all the facts come out yet and look what NY did as a result! -
I don't believe assault weapons can be passed on. You should register it in your name or else it will be the government's when he passes.

I really hope that the parents or brother or whomever this person was is prosecuted to the full extent of the law. First of all the weapon was illegal, and second of all HOW THE HELL DOES A CHILD GET ACCESS TO A PISTOL???? As far as I am concerned, this is the type of person that should never be allowed a gun of any kind again. -
Yesterday on the radio I heard someone say that NY's magazine restriction of 7 rounds was carefully crafted as a back door ban on all new semi-auto handguns. The person's argument was that gun manufacturers like Glock would not produce separate NY compliant models of their popular handguns that contain 7 round magazines. They said that the demand would be limited to only NY, and that the cost associated with re-tooling their plants would not be worth the limited revenues. Therefore, you would not be able to purchase new semi-autos because they would not contain the required 7 round magazine. What do you guys think? Even if the original manufacturers find it cost prohibitive to produce versions of their popular models with 7 round magazines for NY, I would think that there would be enough of a demand that an after-market parts company would begin to produce them. THe question then would be if the original manufacturers would then sell their weapons without magazines, so that you could purchase the legal 7 round magazine separately to comply with the NY law.

voting record for new gun bills
joe12 replied to IDRBS's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I am pleased to say that both my assemblywoman and state senator voted no. I was also please that the recently elected assemblyman from the district right next to us voted no. He is a democrat by the way, so I applaud his courage. By the same token, I hope that you guys that live in conservative districts vote out the republicans that voted yes on this. -
New NY Gun Law Fact Sheet
joe12 replied to WingNut's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Agreed, but since many AR owners have owned them for many years before the federal checks, I doubt that many would be able to prove ownership. Especially if you purchased recently at a gun show where no checks are required. Just trying to highlight some of the loopholes in this hastily constructed mess. -

I think a constitutional amendment would be needed for him the remove the 2 term limit, but then again he doesn't seem to have much regard for the constitution

Can you purchase an "assault rifle" out of state and register it here in ny within a year? -
alittle clarity on new gun laws...

I read something today that said the law doesn't go into effect until march. Does that mean that I could still purchase an AR-15 with the intent of registering? -

http://www.assaultweapon.info/ Sorry here is the link -
The link below is a good primer on the fallacy of "assault rifles". I have been sending this to my non-gun owner friends to educate them on the nonsense of designating guns assault rifles. It also provides the political history of the invented term. Www.assaultweapon.info

New NY Gun Law Fact Sheet

So i guess that pump action shotguns with pistol grips are OK??? I think that earlier versions of the bill classified these as assault weapons but it doesnt look like that made it into the final bill. -
nobody needs that
-
ask if they could sneak into the bill a complete repeal of the SAFE gun act.

ALL 10+ SHOT MAGAZINES ARE GONE
joe12 replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You can keep 10 round magazines, but you can only load 7 rounds. So you can take comfort knowing that the murderer will only load 7 rounds into his 10 round mag. Tube fed semi-auto .22s are exempt based on my reading of the law.
