  1. I tried doing what you said Doc... but it came out all jibberished. It's the Indian - not the arrow! :-\
  2. TH... I truly enjoy viewing your photos. Thanks for posting.
  3. Hey Guys (and girls)... I love being a grandfather, and this is why: Know why grandparents and grandchildren get along so well? They have a common 'enemy'! ;D
  4. Remington 700 SPS - .260 Rem (Would like to get a Grey Laminated Stock for it) Federal Vital Shock 120gr Accu-Tips Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 Scope Bowtech Equalizer - 58# Easton 500 ST Axis Full Metal Jacket Arrows Muzzy Phantom 100gr Broadheads
  5. Welcome Big Daddy.... I like your intro, but you oughta' know there's women in addition to gents on this forum. Just Saying...
  6. im guilty of the de-scenting OCD clan lol does the deer daner work for you? i have it in my pack but only used it 2 times. never really got a chance to experiment with it Hi Geno... I'm guilty of OCD too (even take medicine for it) - just not in scent control. :-\ I do use scent-control products prior to hunting... just not all the time. I think Deer Dander does work. I've had deer walk very near where I had previously walked and hunkered down in a tree top just off the trail, and they didn't spook.
  7. Scent control is good, and I practice it (but not to the degree some of you OCD candidates do - LOL), but I also cover my scent with Deer Dander. Seems to do a pretty good job.
  8. Congratulations papabear to you, your daughter, and the entire 'bear' family.
  9. Jordan... I'm an adjunct professor at SUNY; Empire State College and I think you did a pretty good job on your paper (you certainly picked a controversial topic - as you can see from this thread). I know you wrote your paper based on information you gathered from research and perceptions you possess on the subject. If you take away anything from this experience (the posting of your paper and the confrontations you received from forum members - and their expanded conversations) remember this: You did the best job you could on your paper (based on information you acquired and past perceptions on the topic at the time of the writing) because you want a good grade. Also rememberthis: No matter what you do in life, there's always someone who could have done a better job, had a better experience, or fought a better fight - and they'll usually be the first to tell you so. Now... keep doing the best YOU can young man!
  10. Read (and became involved in) a discussion about Jordan's controversal essay he wrote for school. In it he stated, "The great Ted Nugent once said, “There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident. The only misuse of guns comes in environments where there are drugs, alcohol, bad parents, and undisciplined children, period.”" only to receive a response regarding the word "great" in front of Ted Nugent's name. Jordan stood by his conviction and hence the starting of this controversial thread. So I ask you... is your perception of Ted Nugent 'great' and would you accept him as the 'spokesperson' for the hunting and shooting sports? Or... could you think of someone else YOU would like to have representing our sports to America? For more info and to read the aforementioned comments before you respond to this thread - Ref: DOING A CONTROVERSAL ESSAY FOR ENGLISH CLASS in the Chit Chat Forum (Page 3).
  11. I agree... I think I'll start a thread asking others who they think would be a good candidate to 'represent' the shooting and hunting population. Pssst... I betcha' Nugent's name comes up :'(
  12. You can then enlighten us if you wish. I must warn you that it will be at your own risk. A good many here have little use for the guy and feel that he is exactly the WRONG person to represent gun owners and hunters. Me included. Hey steve... not to stomp you your post, because Ted is a controversial individual - but a GREAT thread to start might be: "WHO do you think should be the 'poster child' to represent gun owners and hunters?"
  13. Looking forward to May 1st too. You hunt where there's Rattlesnakes? Boy I'd be outa' there faster than a turkey could run! Nice birds. Good luck to you this spring.
  14. I usually have 1 large bottle of Gatoraid in my backpack along with a bag of walnuts, granola bars, a couple apples, my bladder of water, and beef jerky. Sometimes I splurge and put in a couple of PB&J sandwiches.
  15. ??? THAT's where all the bucks are - in the Cuba area - Allegany County. Gotta' call my budy in Blackcreek.
  16. Three guys are out hunting and sitting around the evening campfire exchanging their worst experiences. The first guy says the worst thing that ever happened to him was, he was up on scaffold 7 stories high washing windows when the scaffold collapsed and he fell, breaking every bone in his body and he was hospitalized for six months. The second guy says the worst thing that ever happened to him was, he was hitch-hiking and a Greyhound bus ran over him, breaking his back and he wound up in the hospital for nearly a year. The 3rd guy was not saying anything, so one of the others asked him about his worst experience. He said, "Well, I'll tell you about the second worst thing that ever happened to me, I was out hunting one time and I had to take a shit, so I stepped behind a tree, dropped my trousers, and crouched down into *the* position." "Yeah? What happened next?" Asks his friend. "I got a little too close to the ground and -- WHAM -- a bear trap snapped shut on my testicles." One of the other guys said, "God! If that was the second worst, what in the world was the worst?" He calmly replied, "Oh, that would be when I reached the end of the chain. . ." ???
  17. Two hunters went to Canada to go bear hunting. They came upon a fork in the road where a sign read “BEAR LEFT” - so they went home.
  18. sodfather... Another place to look for archery products (that's off the beaten path) is Gunbroker.com. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Browse.aspx?Cat=984
  19. A TRESPASSER (wearing no back tag, and refusing to tell me his name) challenging me in a threatening tone (asking if I have permission to hunt on my buddy's private land). After finding out I have written permission... he 'ordered' me to go hunt someplace else 'fast' because their gang is driving the mountain side. I now have the DEC's TIPP line programmed on my cell phone under contacts!
  20. Well 'Good On Ya' cwhite.... welcome to the forum (formally). LOL Like your occupation... did you stop me once in VT? - 2005, Route 91 I think... just kidding (but I did see a BP SUV with a dog in it up there). Good luck out there young man - take care and God Bless!
  21. You are SOOOOOO WRONG!!!! DOn't you read the other threads....Indians can't shoot and aren't true hunters...lol ;) DAMN... :'( I guess my senility kicked in again. I gotta' stop doing that. LOL.
  22. After you gut an animal for some unknown reason they mysteriously seem to gain weight... Those damn rascals get even with us after shooting 'em.
