I agree. The media will play the hell out of every incident like this. Who ever the kid got the gun from more than likely possessed it illegally, given it was NYC. The media wont focus on the illegally possessed gun, or the bad parenting, it will all be about "Child brings gun to school" Its always the evil gun.

So is a semi auto pistol an "assault weapon?" It accepts a detachable magazine and has a pistol grip. LOL!!! Maybe I shouldn't laugh.

Agreed ....The word of the day is "Progressive" In his state of the sate address Cuomo said that this whole thing was about getting rid of "assault rifles" yet he put huge restrictions on handguns and handgun ammo. This is a back door gun grab. As it is now, when you die your "assault rifle" must be surrendered to the state (confiscated) and if 7 round or less mags are not available for you pistol, you are a criminal and subject to arrest and confiscation of your hand gun. Not to mention the high registration fees that will be imposed, that some people wont be able to afford, forcing them to surrender their guns or become criminals. This is a gun grab. He rushed this bill through so fast that he made no exemptions for police. As its written right now police are subject to the same 7 round rule.

I asked her and she said it was for age, but again they have never ID'd in the past, and Im pushing 50 years old. She just looked at my license for a split second and handed it back to me. I think its just a big C.Y.A. since the s@#t hit the fan.

Right ....and even if the manufacturers retool or redesign higher cap. mags down to 7 rounds the price will go through the roof. pistol mags are already around 30-50 bucks. From what I understand you have one year to comply with the 7 round mag restriction. You can carry you higher cap. mags now but only load them with 7. (Brilliant!!) but after a year they will be illegal .If you cant find or cant afford the new mags you are screwed. You can either get rid of your old mags, which will pretty much make your pistol useless or keep them and be a criminal.

I just (an hour ago) bought a box of .40 S&W. No back ground check but I had to show I.D. They have never ID'd before. The cashier said that it was their new policy since the Cuomo rape.

I was just on a sight that showed Cuomo signing the bill. They showed a close up of his signature, and he actually put an exclamation point after it. Andrew Cuomo !

"Gone" was the wrong word. They have to be registered as an "assault" weapon and will no longer be available.

The trunk of your car is the worst place to keep a gun, especially this time of year. While you drive around, with the heat on, some of that heat makes its way to the trunk. when you turn the car off it cools and condensation builds up. Even though it seems dry, moisture is building up.

Welcome.... For a few years I hunted a small patch of private land (only about 60 acres) that boardered state land, in Pharsalia. In the short time we hunted there my two friends and I took 5 bucks, one a bruiser, and 3 doe. That was a long time ago but Im sure it's still real good deer hunting. When our friend sold the land I almost cried.

my 870, with the bead blast (dull) finish would rust up once in a while, but nothing major. I would just saturat an old dish rag with WD-40 and rub it down real good. Pic?

You're right. But what about the fact that under this new law, if you currently own an "assault rifle" you can keep it , but you can not transfere or sell it to anyone in NY. You can't even will it to someone. When you die it has to be surrendered to the state. Is that a back door way to confiscation?

I Wunder how many people will register their guns...The way I see it as soon as a person does register an "assault rifle" the state pretty much owns it and is letting the person borrow it until they die.

I would assume that you could only buy a pistol that has a seven round or less mag, like the smaller carry models. The manufacturers will all come out with 7 rounders, or go out of business, but how long will that take? Watch the smaller pistols and revolvers fly off the shelf.
