This is a gun grab. Cuomo wiped his back side with the constitution. If you own an "assault rifle" now you can keep it but must register it with the state. You may sell it out of state but you can not sell or transfere it in New York. You can not even will it to someone before you die. When you die it must be surrendered to the state. Confiscation??? You must renew your pistol permit every five years. Anyone think that the renewal fees will cost more and more and more causing some people to not be able to afford it, eventually forcing them to surrender their handguns to the state?

I can't get to that link for some reason. Did they happen to mention how many of those long guns were "assault rifles"?

They have a huge following in the competitive shooting world. They seem to be getting more popular with hunters, but not as popular as other hunting rifles. I know a few guys that own these types but only one guy coyote hunts with it.

Yeah..thats why I was looking at the Charter arms. They make a small 9mm revolver. I haven't owned a revolver in years and just wanted one. I was thinking 9mm cuz I already have a lot of 9mm target ammo. Might have to go back to S&W or Ruger .357/.38. And yeah I would carry it on occasion but not as my main carry

How freak'n stupid is that? If you have a 10 round mag you can only load 7 rounds. Hear that bad guys???!!! That should put an end to criminal scum using their illegal hand guns. I think this is all about getting "assault weapons" registered and trackable. And don't forget the registration fees that will follow.

I think. as far as the front grip, they are talking about a grip that attatches to the for end, that hangs straight down, or straight out to one side or the other. Kind of like a pistol grip on the front.

There is a section that applies to shot guns. Semi's with a pistol grip, thumb hole stock, a capacity larger than 7.... don't remember all of them.

Im toying with the idea of getting a revolver in 45 ACP or maybe 9mm. Not many chooses out there.

The second part of section 38 ,if I read it right, says that mags that hold no more than 10 rounds, and are already possessed, will be grandfathered but can only be loaded with 7 rounds.

So what do you do with your pistol, that has an 8 round mag. and a 7 round or less mag. for the same gun, does not exist?? My local news reported earlier that part of the Cuomo plan was to require people to "turn in" all mags with a greater than 7 round capacity. These "people" are devious.

Bad feeling is right. Just heard that the 7 round mag limit applies to pistols too and that you will be required to "turn in "all mags greater than 7 rounds. If that is the case, a person who legally owns a long gun or pistol for which a 7 round or less mag is not made, has a useless firearm.

I agree that its a lot more than "the gun". Way more people are beaten to death, with blunt objects or bare fists then are killed with all rifles combined. Not just "assault rifles"

Go out now, especially if the area is new. Get the lay of the land. This years sign will still be there (rubs, trails and with the recent thaw, scrapes) I went out today just to take a walk & look for sheds. No luck on the sheds, but I found a beaten down run that must have been there during deer season, but I never came across it. If you turkey hunt in the spring , thats another good time to check things out. I normally don't start setting and cleaning out stands till 2 or 3 weeks before bow opens.

No ...the sling is the shoulder thing that goes OVER... thats fine. What makes the rifle so much more deadly is the shoulder thing that goes UP. Kind of like the bullet clip holder thing. A bullet clip holder thing that holds 10 bullets is okay, but a bullet clip holder thing that holds 11 bullets is bad.

Right.....a rifle is Okay one minute but screw a $10 pistol type grip on the exact same rifle and 10 seconds later it's illegal????

The chokes for my 870 come in plastic tubes, like pill bottles. If I forget which one is in the gun, I just see which of the tubes are empty in the gun locker.

A ton of cops, that I know have permits. Yeah he will. I know a ton of people who own hand guns, but not one of them has ever owned one of these.
