243, 30-30 and the 30-06 are pretty much all you need. All would be fine for deer. I would take the 06 but thats just me. Take which ever you are most comfortable with. If you're itching to buy a new rifle then maybe consider a 7mm-08 or a 308. Both short actions with more thump than the 243. Good luck

And when loading the deer on the back racks, always remember to load the gut slit opposite side of the hot exhaust. Trust me.

I have battled the mighty mice before. Plug the tail pipe end with steel wool. Don't push it in too far. Get a couple boxes of moth balls. Cut about 5" sects of old panty hose so you have a sleeve. Tie off one end then fill it with moth balls and tie the other end. Place the "ball bags" all around the engine and one or two in the air filter housing.

Hang stands, trim stands, fix stands brush hog, buy license wash clothes re-up on scent killer, other scents and hand warmers, buy new fanny pack find half my stuff and shoot bow more. Ya know…the usual last minute stuff.

I shot open sights from 1979 until 1993. Back in the day the feeling of most of the hunters I knew, old timers especially, was that scopes would fog or break and that you couldn't get a fast enough sight picture. I took a lot of deer with irons on my old shotgun, a couple rifles and a muzzle loader. Then in 93 I got a rifled slug gun and I friend convinced me to put a scope on it. I did and I wish I did it from the beginning. Scopes ever since.

Gander Mountain has their brand bag targets for about $40. Its not a real big target, but its big enough.

New York sucks so bad, for deer hunting, that its the only state I hunt.

Does that taste anything like Bud Light 2015??????

I sold my sons Kawasaki Prairie 360 and replaced it with a Polaris 570, back in April. The 360 was an awesome work horse machine. Only reason I switched was because the 360 didn't have quite the ground clearance and it wasn't fuel injected. Fuel injected machines are way easier to start (especially on cold days) than carborated ones with chokes. Just start the thing, wait maybe a minute and go, as opposed to putting on the choke, lowering the choke slowly as the thing warms up, and then taking off. If your father just wants a good, basic 4X4 ATV then look at the Prairie 360. Its a lot less $ that the Polaris 570. As far as storage, outside. It will be fine. Get a good ATV cover, pull the battery and leave it on a battery tender or float charger in the garage or basement, off of the floor.

LOL!!…Thats just wrong!!

I never understood why Clark Kent would duck into a phone booth, to change into Super Man. The thing is made of glass, so everyone can see him changing. And what the hell did he do with his regular clothes?? Just leave them in the booth??

My dog would have just kept on snoring at the foot of my bed.

You should be fine. I have used cloth camo tape in the past and it was no problem.

Reasons why some will never buy another Remington Firearm.

One U.S. rifle maker that has always impressed me is Ruger. Some guys might not like the looks, or feel, of them but as far as function and accuracy, they have always been 100% My 2 cents. -
I showed this pic to the blond next door. She said there is no way she could ever go into it because she is way too claustrophobic..

I have three 700's and two 870's. The newest one was purchased in 1987. All top notch, high quality firearms. But I have heard that some of the newer stuff has had issues…..Too bad really.. -

Kimber Solo……Huge Turd…..Sorry -
I have never had luck rattling. I have had a few distant bucks pick up their heads and look, but they just kept on their way. Never had much luck grunting either. I killed the one and only buck, out of about 100, that responded to grunts. Im sure that in a lot of cases it works well though.

Kishels Mock Scrape Kit
ants replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I haven't used the mock scrape kit, but I have had good luck with other Kishels scents -
Its just not fair!!

They would get bagged for Trespass at best…..Unless they admitted to the prior thefts. I like the way you think though….

Estrous doe scents do work. I have killed several bucks that defiantly were coming into it. The thing is, I think there is a very small window of opportunity when using this type of scent. My success with them has always been at peak rut, and with bucks that were prowling through sniffing, head up. Bucks chasing does or with their nose to the ground will not even notice it. Early season I use a little straight doe pee. No estrus. I have had luck with that too.
