7mm-08 I guarantee you will be more accurate than your will with a 30-06 or a .300 reason being (lighter recoil) but still very flat trajectory -
congrats, looks like a tasty little one or you shoot a really big bow lol

Spot On....

different people have different reactions to recoil, however for the average person i think i read anything over 16lbs of anticipated recoil will cause a pre-shot flinch most will shoot a lighter caliber 7mm-08 than they will a 30-06 or 7mm Mag or .300 win mag
-
depends on the caliber, I carry a Marlin .35 7 lbs Browning A-Bolt 7mm-08 6lbs 7oz kick is about the same

Looking into the legality of food plots.

what you have to realize the bigtime shows with all the equipment are farming the deer for clients paying big bucks $$ for big bucks, probably earn more more than the farmer growing corn -

what happens to the deer herd if you sell your property and the new owners (not being hunters) discontinue to plant and maintain a plot, do the increased size of deer herd that have been conditioned to your property just die off because the natural habitat does not have enough available food to sustain them? now before you answer remember the point of the food plot was to increase herd size and health. so what happens when the food plot is gone? -

i'm not questioning the legality of food plots it's legal we all know that, hell i'm sure the multi million dollar seed corporations have contributed to it being legal , just seems some people get all in a tizzy when you say it's a form of baiting, look.... if you put down a pile of corn and never hunt it, it's feeding the moment you hunt it it's baiting -

let me add, this does not make you any less of a hunter neither, we utilize many techniques for the taking of deer. -

yes if your planting oaks for the pure intention of attracting deer so you can hunt that tree it's a form of baiting, how is it not? I didn't say its illegal because it's not but I cannot pretend that when you plant an acre of clover and then set up a stand on it you are not baiting... if you don't think so your delusional, Farmers who plant crops do it to make $$, they hate deer eating there profit, they plant for the complete opposite reason you do.... so when i see you make yourself a nice big bowl of clover and chickory salad with some dressing i will say your not baiting. in short it's put there for one purpose and one purpose only, and that is to take advantage of concentrated deer for the purpose of tagging them. -

that's fantastic, and by no means am I stating that farming is for human consumption only, I really think baiting/food plots & farming are all based on intention if planting is being done for the intention of attracting deer to then harvest a deer with a weapon (it's baiting) if your farming for use and happen to have deer around thats a by-product of your efforts. -

food plots are legal, but it's not the same as farming, when you farm and plant (corn, potatoes, lettuce ect...) you are doing it for the purpose of harvesting that for consumption, when you plant clover, alfalfa, winter rye tou are doing it for the sole purpose of attracting wildlife, essentially a food plot is a self sustaining field of bait, you are using it with the intention of attracting/baiting deer -
