  1. I never hunted out of one, so i figured i'd try
  2. Yeah i hear that. But there is a nice spot pretty far back in our lot I would love to have it. Tonight I picked up my galvanized bolts/nuts and lag screws. Tomorrow I have to pickup some decking nails and the crete. Can't wait to get started!
  3. I hope your joking, if not then you are poaching. Sent from my DROID RAZR
  4. Because - Its a main tag, which is not meant to be transferred. There are less buck then does, and does are used to control the pop? I don't know why for sure but those are some reasons.
  5. Sheez, that sucks. Amazing what happens in the woods.
  6. Woodchucks are all over the place by us. My old man wants to nuke them all, they ate every last flower top he planted. They are super skittish too, hard to get around the house. I told him to setup the blind right outside.
  7. Again who said that.. I'm not thinking that. I'm sure the issues of DMP miss use spans across all area's including those who do and don't support AR's. But whatever..
  8. Nothing is stopping those people. No one suggested that.
  9. Yeah not sure of the size, googling around i found 12,000 acres?
  10. I just wish the DEC actually answered emails other then the small handful of guys that do now.
  11. So whats the final outcome on this anyways?
  12. Its a state park in 8M. REMEMBER LETCHWORTH STATE PARK ADOPTED THE NYS PILOT PROGRAM OF ANTLER RESTRICTION HARVEST. ONLY BUCKS WITH AT LEAST ONE ANTLER (THE ANTLER IS AT LEAST 3 INCHES LONG) WITH AT LEAST 3 POINTS OR MORE AND EACH POINT BEING AT LEAST ONE INCH LONG CAN BE HARVESTED. THIS RESTRICTION WILL APPLY TO ARCHERY, SHOTGUN AND MUZZLELOADING SEASONS. HUNTERS UNDER THE AGE OF 17 ARE EXEMPT FROM THE POINT RESTRICTION. http://nysparks.com/parks/attachments/Letchworth2011HuntingInformationApplication-Shotgun-2011.pdf

  14. I like the loop b/c of less wear and tear and from what I read a truer flying arrow out of the gate b/c the pull is spread across two points.
  15. Figured I'd share this. I wanted to see a topo overlay with the satellite images so I can get a better idea of the total property topography. http://hikingscience...ay-mapping.html That site above shows you how to do it, and wow its dead on! We have an old gas pipeline that is decomissioned that runs through our small field on the edge and its dead on. See attached... (I added the property lines w/the corners from the GPS)
  16. Blaze orange isnt going to "fix stupid people", it will however help prevent some/most accidental / careless shooting.
  17. I wear blaze orange even when I fish. But anyways, I generally wear some kind of B/O during any hunting season... Mainly because, why the hell not!?
  18. I'm still debating where to put this thing, 90% sure I'll put it where I'm planning but there is still a 10% chance I'll put it a bit further in the property.
  19. Yeah the platform is 12ft, so I guess "Tower" is misleading ? But I think 12 ft is a nice sweet spot for stability, view and easy of construction. Plus I'm going to be overlooking a valley to one side.
  20. Will do! Using: 4x4x12's for the posts (6 of them) 2x8's for the joists 2x4's for the railings / ladder 1x6's for the decking I just hope the crete dries fast so I can get to work on Sat, says 30-40 min hardening time, then 3hrs before you can put a heavy load on it. Going to get the brackets to sink in the crete to mount the 4x4's to. Hopefully it will last for years and years.
  21. This one is kind of an experiment.. If it works out well, I'll do another one. Tell you what though, to do it right, it ain't cheap!
  22. Well, I'm going to start building my first tower stand this weekend. With some idea's from here, friends, and some online photo's I have a good idea for one. Plus I'll be able to put a my uncle up there hopefully this season because he is sick, and needs a nice stable easy to get into spot. Wood is ordered, being delivered tomorrow. Friday night I'll pickup some quikcrete, lag bolts, screws, and other odds and ends I need. Going for a 10x8 platform, then eventually build some shelter on there (more likely next year), plus i figured why the hell not. I went this large so I can sit out side once there is a shelter up there (if there ever is one). Going to try to draw up some plans, but I suck with these cad programs.
