Hello Welcome to the site.

No, What I am saying is all the 1.5's are being hosed before they have a chance to grow. Having AR gave them at least that chance to become a 2.5 or more. I'm in WMU 3, its not big buck county, and there is a good amount of pressure all around. Unfortunately I don't hunt up where you do, where this is not an issue.

Not sure what this is? Deer Scrape?
burmjohn replied to Landowner's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
That just doesn't make sense w/o something on the ground. -
Any pics of your stand?

The problem is voluntary programs will not work unless you have your own herd on god knows how many acres. I choose to practice some type of AR and not shoot all the 1.5's and have my neighbor a way blast away with the brown its down mentality. At least with this minor AR these deer have a fighting chance to make it.

This is from the same document that Doewacker quoted from. They are saying that the AR program has been successful in allowing the 1.5's to survive.

Early/Mid Bow Season Boots
burmjohn replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
For early bow, I just have a crappy pair of walmart hiking boots that are waterproof. They are pretty comfortable, have not had them in the rain yet though. -
I can only talk from first hand experience, since both my uncles property and my new property are in AR zones. Now I have not hunted my property yet, but the trail cam photo's are amazing. My uncle (and me) as of the last two years has seen quite an improvement in larger antlered bucks. Time will tell I guess.

Hunters possessing a Deer Management Permit (DMP) may take one antlerless deer per permit, in addition to deer that may be taken with a regular big game tag or Bow/Muzz Antlerless or Bow/Muzz Either Sex tags. DMPs may only be used for antlerless deer (have no antlers or antlers less than 3" long). DMPs may only be used in the WMU for which they are issued. DMPs are valid during all Southern Zone seasons, the Northern Zone regular and late muzzleloading season, and in all Westchester and Suffolk County seasons. Junior Bowhunters may use DMPs during the special archery seasons and during the regular season. Hunters may transfer or receive up to 2 DMPs from other hunters (see Consignment of Deer Management Permits for instructions). An overview of how DMP quotas are established is available at Understanding DMPs: Quota Setting and Permit Selection.

I have some on our trail camera, my dad saw one, a nice sized on 50lbs at 50 yards redish coat when walking 2 weeks ago. Personally I've seen 5 of them. 2 were drooling over my deer as I rolled up in my ATV, no bite marks on the deer, so it was OK. And I had two piss on my tree when I was bow hunting a few years back. Then last year I saw one to far and fast for a shot. They are all over, I can hear them at night on my uncles property. And on ours like I said we have visual and trail cam of them. And the neighbors said its symphony at night.

LOL, Its in WNY so that should narrow it down. Is that an 8 or a 7?

BTW I figured out what the problem was. A member was allowed to remove their own post, and if they were the topic starter, that means the thread got nuked. Changed that now, so if a member wants a post removed just edit the post and remove your text or PM a moderator to do it. This way threads don't go b00f! -

Its on Fios, there are a few decent shows on there tho. Not as commercialized as the outdoors channel.
