  1. you sure seem calmer now. See it is good to lose stress. E venus one horse town guys realize that
  2. now that i shoot bh 209, Iuse hoppes then gun oil. Before it was hot water and dish detergent, then gun oil.
  3. amen to you back strapper you took the words out of my mouth one post the soil sucks no big bucks never will be next farms everywhere so they have big bucks. My spleen is bleeding from trying to sort it all out
  4. for such poor soil, there sure seems to be a lot of agriculture going on even in my one horse town.
  5. what the F are you talking about? go up there for real hunting? you need to pull the stick out of your --- well i guess we have no idea of what we are doing down here right. oh man we get a ton of tags and now we are a bunch of hillbillys? ever think you only get a few tags because you live in a 1 horse town. dont come down on us for having such a HUGE deer population and a need to thin it out every year. kudos to you for killing what you want, its the same here as well, i could filled ALL my tags if i so choose to do so but thats none of your concern, must be the pressure of hunting here, right. as for not seeing deer, I have deer on my land 24/7, there are tons of deer out here thats why we get more tags, so stop hating on us for having more. why dont you come down here for a real hunting experience, laid back brother, no more comp here than anywhere else. Hunting is about doing your own thing, thats what its about. some ppl love the comp and stress of hunting and live for it. not me personally but others do, so who are you to judge what others do. because they do thing differant than you it must be wrong. get off your horse. harvest what I choose, not what is chosen for me you said. they sure did choose for you if you only get 1 DMP every 4 years some ppl just cant handle the facts. So we need less tags out here so hunting would be more enjoyable for us?? go back on your med's kid because you dont know what your talking about. did you get your BIG BUCK this year? No, well you must need another AR on top of the one you allready have. Some ppl just dont get it. well you totally missed the whole point. And the buck I harvested was an 8 point 17 1/2 inch inside spread 8 inch g2 190 pound bruiser. and you? I love the downstate we matter more mentality, which is what my post eluded to. And your reapinse just proved it. My post was just a summary of almost every post of the thread. Get off your horse and come back to reality. I get one dmp every four years because I love in a one horse town. That line made less sense than the rest of your post. But whatever go with your delusion. It seems to work for you.
  6. and in the nz we do not get 4 dmp. More like a dmp every four years. If you had less tags to fill, maybe you would not feel the pressure to see so many deer to fill so many tags. Most years, I have a buck tag and 2 bow ml tags. I see deer from opening day until closing day. This year, I had a dmp filled it and my buck tag, That was a godo year for me. I passed a doe early ml and a nice buck late ml. The problem isnt that you arent seeing deer, you arent seeing enough deer to fill the arms length of tags you have. An unused tag is not a sign of weakness or poor hunting. I could have easily filled all 4 tags to include an early ml and a late ml deer. My question is why do I need to. Look I know us NZ guys are the minority here, and pretty much get blown off when we type anything, because we do not understand deer hunting. I can live with that. I will still post. But I will sure say I am glad that as a NZ guy, I can take the season we have and go with it. If it is good then I am glad. if it is bad I am still glad. I was out, I was with friends. I saw some deer. I got away from the huste and bustle of my job for a few days. That is what hunting is about. Not how many deer tags do you have. How dare you want to use your implement in my season, and I want big bucks, so you cant shoot a small one and if I do not see at least 7 deer a day, the population is gone, and we need to change it all so I do see 7 deer a day. You guys stress more over deer season, than most do over work. Well I may be in the minority, but I am glad I can go out in the woods and feel safe without glowing. I am gald I can go out and see deer, and harvest what I choose, not what is chosen for me, and that I have good friends to share the experience with. If any of you guys want to experience deer hunting the way it is supposed to be, get a hold of me, we will make arrangemsnts for you to come up and see how relaxing and enjoyable it can be rather than how stressed and competitive it can be.
  7. how was it split? didnt one stop one day and the other started the next?
  8. well I know of no law that says a gun or ammo has to be locked up in new york state. If there is, I have not seen or heard about it. The unsupervised children as far as I know 12 years old is the age a child can stay alone. It is smart to leave them at that age no. But as far as the law is concerned, I dont see where the dad broke any. I am not saying what a jury will say, I am saying what the law says
  9. anybody can be charged. However in this country, the people are asumed innocnet until proven guilty. By that I mean until convicted, we should not pass judgement. You are hearng wht the cops and dz said, not what the person said
  10. nice pic, nice deer. Think how big they could be if ar was in place. Sorry I had to say it.
  11. I would hope if the unsafe hunters see orange, they would not shoot, making them safer. If it did not make others safer, there is no sense in wearing it. You wear it not to be shot, not to keep from shooting somene else. If I did not feel safe in the woods, I would not go in the woods. Just me.
  12. ok how do you know it wasnt locked up and the kid go to it. With no facts, you are assuming also.
  13. oh ok then someone better contact the DEC, because that is what they tell us to teach in our hunter ed classes. And in my class, a retired officer form the DEC teaches it.
  14. If th ekid had been properly trained, the gun would not have been pointed at the other kid. If the kid had been properly trained, even if he touched the gun, he would have checked and cleared it. If the kid had been properly trained, he would not have touched the gun unsupervised. Seems like a no brainer to me since he did not do any of the things mentioned.
  15. or any other property. We own the state property, so I guess you should have the choice there too. I would hope so. As I have said a dozen times and it still stands. it isnot my job to mak eother hunters safer other than the ones I teach in my classes.
  16. umm support fpr voluntary support simply says if you want to do it on your own property have at it. is says absolutely nothing supporting mandatory ar
  17. I am sayng we are destroying the habitat not improving it infringe on means taking away from
  18. ed you are my kind of guy. A chuckle makes the day.
  19. yes we can but generalizing and name calling isnt the way to get your point across. Happy New Year
  20. The whole concept of thinking you can make a deer herd better by only shooting select deer is by in large phony. As I have said a few times, anyone who thinks they are smarter than mother nature is at best foolish. The deer quotas for hunters in NY are based on the carrying capacity of the area. I will admit the way the numbers are calculated is flawed at best. However, that being said, it is the system we have. We are only allowed to harvest the deer that are above the carrying capacity. So, if you limit the deer take by not being allowed to take smaller bucks, the population goes up, but the carrying capacity stays the same or dwindles as the food sources dry up. What do you think happens to the others? Any guesses. Disease, starvation, road kill etc. So you either let them die by hunter or die naturally. Mother nature has ways to control the population. We as hunters are such a small factor. Which deer do you think die by starvation? The older one? umm nope. they will run the young ones off a food area. So the very deer you are trying to protect from hunters die from natural ways, in a much more horriffic way. So in a few years, no young deer means no deer population. Get a disease in the population and see what happens to the majority of the deer. We were lucky enough to thwart off CWD, but who knows next time. We as humans also keep infringing on the habitat these animals have to live on, as well as the antis fighting against us every day, so the carrying capacity drops. As far as I am concerned, it seems to me that all these ar and qdm and all other ways to make hunting more like it is portrayed on tv is phony. It will make the deer population worse. If I choose to pass a smaller deer, it should be by choice and no one elses. As long as the deer is legal so be it.
  21. Then move to a place where they have ar and hunt away. Dont impose your standards on the rest of us so you can hunt BIG BUCKS. It is also funny that those who hunt BIG BUCKS think you know how the rest of us hunt also. I have passed small deer and this year I passed a big deer. I am talking a great rack 6 on one side 4 on the other real character. Know why I passed him at 50 yards with the muzzleloader? I didn't need him. I harvested a nice 8 point 190 pound deer and had a doe in the freezer. I could have made it a banner season, as this deer was over 200 pounds post rut and a 150 to 160 class. See I can speak the language too. But I didnt need the bragging rights. I had what I needed and passed on what I wanted. He will be there next year, and I have already made it my mission to get him next year. I have been out there scouting now. If one of the other guys I hunt with does, I will shake his hand enthuastically congratulate him and mean it. If I get him, I will let every other deer walk, unless I see a doe during muzzleloader. The difference between you and I is, I do not feel that I have to impose my hunting on others so they have to hunt the same as I do, or they have to pass up a deer so it will grow bigger for me to shoot next year to feed my ego. So in closing, we dont want need nor desire your restrictions. So put your spin on the anouncements DEC puts out and try to convince us that the DEC and the majority of hunters want this. Those of us who can really read what is said know better.
  22. politician spin. It sounds like an omaba speech. Unemployment is up to 10 percent, but we saved or created 100,000 jobs.
  23. and yet we have sunshine and mod 30 all week. I guess the snow kill may be lower in nny again. I love it
