I actually turned 52 last month. As old as my tongue and a bit older than my teeth. And I remember when the st lawrence was just a little creek off lake ontario. Now from my ffice I overlook it every day. In good weather I fish on my lunch break.

I have midlands with 18 mile range. They work well. I also have a pair of uniden which my daughter got me for chritmas one year. They have a 22 mile range. I doubt they would ever carry that far, bit we have used them when a person was lost and could no thear a vehicle horn at camp, but when we fired a rifle, he could barely hear it, but we talked on the radios clear as could be. I also have ear buds for them, so outside noise is minimal when talking. In the modern technonlgy age, we text each other more than use radios.

I passed on the bdc because I am not a fan of it, plus I do not intend to shoot a ml at an animal out to 250 yards, or try to guess the yardage to know which line or dot to use. The prostaff is a more than adequate scope for any ml. As I said I like the buckamsers for the quick focus, and that is the only reason I have that one.

this is the adirondack camp my dad and uncles built in 1964. They bought 60 acres which had public access niagara mohawk land on two sides as there was a power project on the racquette river where the camp was. . This is it I promise.

I guess I am nostalgic tonight. This is a pic of a marlin my dad caught in 1964 or so. He went on a cod fishing charter off rhode island. The fish was 7 1/2 feet long and was landed on 20 pound test line. memories are great. the lady is my mother. Both are deceased now

here is a pic of my Dad's 8 point taken near cranberry lake in nov 1959. My dad hunted with my uncles. They would stay near cranberry in a tent for a week opening season, then weekends after that. I apologize for the less than traditional background, the pic was taken at my uncles when they got back. They all got together and bought land and tore down a house and built a camp in 1963 in the south colton area. The youngster holding the deers leg is me.

there is nothung wrong with cva. I had an optima elite with the 50 cal barrel and 270 interchangeable. Inheritantly more accurate than my encore. I wouls stillbe using it, but a nephew borowed it a couple years ago, and I havent seen it since.

The best thing I can say is get the best glass you can afford. I am a nikon fan. the prostaff is a great scope for around 100 bucks. I go with the buckmasters just because I like the quick focus. I used bushnell banners for a long time. For the little most use a ml for speical seasons, they are great for around 80 bucks. They take the abuse. I use my ml most of the season, so, I want good glass. 3x9x40 is overkill for a ml, but I prefer too much as to not enough. The new redfield revolutions I am reading are great scopes. They are built by leupold. It has been my experioence that a ml with a decent charge 100 grains or more will kill a scope faster than a rifle will. Go to the local gun shops and look at what they have. Look at used stuff too. Lots of times guys trade in a gun with a scope on it,or trade up scopes, and they will sell the scope used. Get what looks clear and will mount for easy acqisition on the gun you have. And look into good mounts too. The scope is only as good as the hardware that holds it on the gun.

the deer have every opportunity to move out of the area. They are not fenced in. If that piece of property holds them, then good for the guy who owns it. You sound a little envious

I did not miss the point at all. free does not mean it is good or fulfilling. I could crap in a box and say it was free. Does it mean it is something you may want because it is free?
-
oops my bad thanks Tom

yup wear orange during bow season. If it does not spook deer as claimed, what is the big deal wearing it? -
I love robert moses. I live 30 miles form there. The deer are fed a lot by the people there, so they look for handouts.
-
not sure what I would do with it, but, I know I would not go. Maybe donate it to a local charity and they could raffle it off or just give it to someone who could appeciate it.

I hope to shoot the herbs of the pot at 100 yards.
