I shoot the xtp 240 grain not nag and they are deadly on deer. I do not think you will have any problems with them.
-
No as said there was only one deer. if you had a freezer full it was to prevent poaching. Realistically it was a silly law. I hear that in the old days they would look up by report tags and come and check your freezer after april 1. What I am saying is people would poach deer put the tag number on it and have meat until whenever and say the one deer you shot in the fall that weighed 550 pounds lol.
-
Yup but you could get a permit to keep it longer from a dec officer. But remember in the days of these rules, you got one buck tag for the season, so you would get one deer for the season and season was done in late November. Not hard to eat up one deer in six months by April. I just emailed a dec officer buddy to see about any new regs just for my curiousity
-
Not sure it is the law anymore. Old habit from years back where it was the law. I just kept doing it. Also used to be it all had to be used up by april 1st, but no more. Did not mean to cause a bunch of crap.

How does everyone store their venison? i know in a freezer. I mean how do you package the meat. Do you put all the information on the packages that is required? I process my own and I use a heavy duty vacuum sealer and mark the packages with what it is date of kill and tag number. It will stay for a decent amount of time that way. I have been thinking of taking freezer paper and wrapping the sealed packages in it for an extra layer of protection.

look forward to it Paula. no signs so drive right in lol
-
No I just removed the stands and put them on the other side. When i posted about this last year I got attacked for being selfish and a cry baby. This year I bought the corn field and green field lol
-
on the other hand I own 250 acres. I should reasonable expect people to stay off it without having to post it like a going out of business sale. I have had problems with people leasing the cornfield next to me wanting to put their stands 50 to 765 yards on my property after posting their line to keep me out.
-
That I agree with. I was more thinking finding a piece that seems to be no one around and just set up shop to hunt.
-
Nor sure about the cost, but of you find out, I know myself and another guy who would love to hunt a place closer to home. keep me posted
-
If land is not posted for public hunting aka state land the inference is ti it owned by someone. No posters does not mean free gratis.

difference is cwd. Deer eat from the same pile of food and spread the prion. That is one reason scent is different than food

or a stolen hat too. sucks people have no respect for others property

Just got home a foot of snow in the driveway and much more at thew road. Trees all down the driveway hanging low with snow. had to get out shake them all off. Almost got stuck in a maybe 18-20 inch drift in the driveway. Got to camp it was a balmy 10 degrees but no wind. Water jugs inside frozen soda frozen deviled eggs in the fridge frozen. Lit a big old fire and went out to my stand. I had a buddy with me. About 25 yards in front of my stand 3 beds with a dusting of snow from early morning in them. Sat for over an hour and walked through the woods to my buddy. He saw 3 deer I moved 2 big does and a younger spring fawn. Got out came home and enjoying the fire. I will go tomorrow with the 4 wheeler and plow and make it passible. My cousin plans to go over Saturday with his yes no joke prius. He will be lucky to get up the highway much less the driveway. This weekend and next for regular season here. Warmer next week, so it may melt down some.

not everyone who does not get a deer is unhappy. Hell if they were, they would stop hunting. Once people get the idea it is not all about killing something, the better off we will be in the hunting sport. Why on earth people think they need to have 4 dmp a buck tag archery/ml tags and expect to fill them all other than bragging rights the quantity of deer they killed. Then come on a site like this and complaint not seeing deer. I have to say that anyone who justifies this with the old I need it to feed my family, I do not buy. Take the money you spend on equipment licenses gas and all other to hunt and buy food. Would you starve if you do not get 5 or 6 deer in a season? if so look at the budget and fix that. My morning rant now I am going hunting. oops was supposed to quote beachpazz about unhappy hunters
-
agreed but they think that antler restrictions will make your herd stronger
-
that is a good idea swapped hunts. i would do it
-
I honestly think that before anyone tries to come up with a solution, they should hunt in every wmu and experience ot before telling those who do hunt there how they need to hunt and manage their deer herd
-
6-8 inches here heavy and wet. the snow bower did not like it at all. Have not been to camp yet to check
-
that is not necessarily true.we get.more money from the federal govt through the pittman Robertson act. Sent from my LGL35G using Tapatalk 2

I prefer a big deer with a smaller rack than a decent deer with a big rack. I want 180 class deer but that is pounds not inches

Traditionally we hunt the am. dinner at 3 so I am home by noon. In the good old days when everyone in the family hunted, we headed to camp hunted and after dark the feast began. It was always more cozy and seemed more family like than now when everyone is in a rush and see how many dinners they can go to, plus work and of course rush to the stores as soon as the whipped creme is on the pumpkin pie. Funny how traditions just fade away. if I told my kids we were having Thanksgiving at camp, dinner would be lonely and be a turkey sub lol.
