That was quicker than I expected lol.

not when everyone there has doe permits.

be careful, you will be strung up for such silly thoughts. BTW I agree.

Good morning Paula. Remember patience is a virtue. Good luck.

The action of the tongue side is in relation to the way the deer drops. It is a muscle relaxing thing and gravity takes it from there. If you walk up on a deer and the tongue is sticking up rather than down, take a pic.

that is the first step give them dec guys an inch. But you totally missed my point. Maybe they should outlaw hunting entirely. Wearing orange does not make you safer in the dark, or extreme dusk. Maybe neon signs, or just follow the laws in place now.

more people get hurt falling form tree stands than shot. Maybe they should outlaw tree stands

These were russian boars escaped from fobare's in rensselaer falls. That was confirmed also.

wanna know what would lessen those early and late shots? Make it bucks only. When everyone has dmp's and a brown is down attitude, as soon as they can see through a scope, they shoot, since it does not matter as long as they think it is a deer. In my area, there are very few if any dmp's and I honestly do not hear those early shots, and rarely a late shot.

confirmed in 6a near Lisbon. I was asked by a local dec officer last year to go on a hunt for them there. That is only about 6 miles from my home. It was assumed these were escapees from a local game farm now out of business. They were tearing up a farm there. I went one day. They make deer hunting look easy. To the best of knowledge, none were taken and they seemed to have moved on. All you need is a small game license and shoot all you see. The pic looks like a small pig to me.

which is fine if you do not have to travel a long ways to work every day. Traveling a few times to hunt is easier and cheaper than having to travel a long ways to work 5 days a week.

most hunting "accidents" happen before and after legal light.

here we go again. This has been debated over and over.

I have lived in both worlds. When I started hunting, we had a small cabin in the adirondacks. 40 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of public access land. Spent many hours there, and had a lot of fun. Well we lost that due to some legal crap with the previous owners. So for 20 plus years, I hunted state land, and was quite successful. But, I always wished for that camp and camaraderie of that atmosphere. I was lucky enough to purchase 250 acres a few years back and put up a camp. I also have exclusive access to 200 bordering my property as long as I help out the elderly gentleman who lives there. By help out, I cut split and stack him 12 cords of wood every year. I also plow his driveway which was not part of the bargain, but hey helping him out is worth it. For me it isnt about not having obnoxious hunters and people ruining my hunt. It is much more about the total experience. Having a close group of friends who come and spend weekends. We eat well we laugh a lot and have a good time. It is also about the opportunities it gives me to get some young hunters out and let them experience it. Now I know I am in the north, and as I have been told, I have no clue about real life, but I pay much less in taxes every year than most of you are paying for a lease. It is 18 miles from my home, and a great place to escape to. From what I am seeing, many people are getting the same idea because land in my area is being bought up for the same reasons I have mine. Yeah, I do not get 3 or 4 doe tags, and can not go out on a slaughter I have an archery tag a muzzleloader tag and my buck tag, but I like owning my own place. At least in my area, there are bargains still. I paid less than 4 grand for all of mine at the county tax sales. Yup it went up for taxes. When the elderly gentleman next door passes away, I have been told I will have first chance to purchase that piece too. That will give me 450 total. My favorite part of owning it though is being able ot give someone an opportunity to come to camp for a weekend, enjoy the good times, and see the sparkle in their eyes when they get a deer.

777 powder is very dirty. You will develop a crud ring near the breech plug making a second load sometimes hard. I switched to blackhorn 209, and shot my tc impact 15 times without swabbing the barrel. I too bought my first ml in 76. I am using 100 grains by volume of blackhorn 209, Harvestor crush rib sabot and 240 grain lead .429 bullet. I am getting great accuracyt 1 to 1/2 inches at 100 yards off the bench.

I believe the word I used was unsettling. If someone intentionally shot at me yes I would defend myself. What is disturbing about that? I twisted nothing, I am not the one who said they were stupid to admit to shooting and play dumb about it now am I? But then again, I am not the one who claims to have been shot at several times.

hmm we get them in April.

more info needed make model etc

If deer are color blind as reported, how will they differentiate my hunting clothes from my street clothes?
-
avoid bore butter, it actually helps rust a barrel. Sounds more to lie like you are not getting it totally clean. Try soapy water and a dry rag and oil after. Also I usually run a patch with oil on it in my barrels about once every month or so year round.

asking what caliber to buy is like asking what is the best truck or blonde or red head. Everyone has an opinion based on their personal experience. Now my opinion. If you want a deer killing machine with little recoil, look at the 25-06

actually the smart thing to do is call the police and have them arrested for trespassing. You use an analogy of you being shot at several times. I find that a bit well never mind, but in the original post I did not see anything about the trespassers firing at the land owners. An entirely different situation. But you can bet if I was shot at, I sure as hell would return fire, and it would not be over anyone's head. Self defense. Condoning or in the east justifying such behavior and saying they were stupid for admitting to it, really is quite unsettling.
-
I agree but who would think you would need a self defense gun in the woods hunting.
-
hate to say it, but I have to. That is one situation I would not want to be wearing orange for sure. Such a sense of entitlement we have fostered in this country. It scares me. As stated before, I would not be waiting for law enforcement, that idiot would be dead. His mom was probably a crack hooker and dad was unknown. Poor guy, he never had a chance. Maybe we should buy him some land and and make it plentiful with deer. Pathetic for sure.

I personally like the early season here in the north. But the ate season, I concentrate on food areas. They are bulking up for winter and post rut. I also seem to have more success mid day.
