  1. me too. I did five of 85 grains in my tc measure and weighed them. Then I took the average and use it to weight for my sidekick. Ended up 60.4.
  2. just as an fyi, and I am sure you all know, bh209 does not have to be weighed. It can be measured like any bp substitute by volume.
  3. just me but I would think being there raking leaves and mowing would cause as much havoc as walking in. I sometimes think that we have become way too technical and try to out think even ourselves when it comes to this stuff. Pick a stand go there and hope for the best.
  4. how is that working lol
  5. if the entire team is on one guys shoulders, not much of a team then.
  6. the issue with packing the gun too hard is especially a concern with pellets. The pellets will get crushed if you pack it too hard. The key to accuracy in a muzzleloader is consistent loading. That means the same amount of pressure on loading. I would not expect to pull the gun out of the box and have the accuracy you would need. So, you may need to work with different powders and bullets to obtain maximum accuracy. As far as safety and powder exploding, in my over 30 years of experience, I have never heard of anything like that happening. Remember if one idiot does something foolish due to liability, they have to say do not do this. Kind of like dont curl your hair in the shower. My best advise is to find a friend who knows what they are doing and learn from them.
  7. as I said if you hunted big game the past two years I would day so however I would cal the local dec office to be sure
  8. the 14 and 15 is new. A couple years ago you had to be 16 to hunt with a firearm. it was bow only at 14 and 15. If you have had a license to hunt with a firearm for two years, you can hunt alone.
  9. the winter will be much more predictable around the first of may 2013
  10. Know your limitations and do not try to exceed them.
  11. I plan to plant next year. Something different that sugar beets.
  12. read my it is time post, At the request of another poster, I have returned. Plus I missed you guys
  13. I have been thinking of planting them next year as a food plot. They would not be harvested at all. I have read mixed reviews doing this. I have read that if the plot is not large enough, they eat them as soon as they come through the ground. I was thinking maybe 5 or so acres. Any ideas about this
  14. a great way to calibrate. and cheaper than a new scale.
  15. nice deer one minute into season. Cool. I passed a small crotch horn and a 4 point. I decided to use my 54 renegade from my father in law. A fellow hunter and his son shot two at 7:45. The boy is 14. I took him out last weekend with no success. The dad and son were in a ground blind on the edge of what was a swamp last year. First doe came up to 20 yards, son shot it. A minute or so later the 6 point followed and the dad shot it. A proud pair for sure. Oops forgot to add the son was using my grey hawk with 70 grains of goex ffg and a patched round ball. Deer went maybe 15 yards and folded up. I have a feeling that gun will find anew home soon.
  16. Hi all, nice to see I am so loved. I decided to return at the request of another member who shall remain nameless. How is everyone doing?
  17. Been thinking about this for a while. Time for me to take a break. All the bitching moaning and groaning is getting to be a bit much for me. Besides it is time for me to start hunting, not sit and talk about hunting, and watch everyone attack each other about how they hunt, where they hunt, and how others are infringing upon their god given rights to have public land all to themselves. I am aware I am as guilty as the rest when it comes to this. That is one of the reasons I need a break. Just posting this as I do not want anyone to think I died and have a party for the wrong reasons. Best of luck to all of you this season.

yup you know how us mentors are law breakers and all. You made the dumb statements. I simply responded.
  21. ten there would be ways ot break the code and it would cost more, so people could complain about the cost.
  22. but it was said with much less crap and only a few sentences.
  23. maybe natural causes. My first thought was a car, but I can not see any signs of damage form the pics. Nice deer though for sure. There sure would be damage on any vehicle that hit him for sure.
  24. Before I could answer what you need, I would ask what do you mean by "Dusk"?
  25. I have one 12 foot two man stand. I use it some but mostly ground blinds I have around the property. Just more comfy in a chair on the ground not all strapped in. Plus I have fallen off bar stools higher than my chair. And better in bad weather.
