  1. I think this whole deal has been a big fiasco from the start. All you have to do is look at the pictures of Zimmerman when he was first. Taken to the police station or hospital to figure out how Martin ended up dead. The guy should walk. The race card is bogus, just a distraction from the fact this Martin kid was a drug dealing little punk.

would a reasonable person find the need to shoot and kill someone because they got punched in the face? that's the question.........and Zimmerman was never hurt bad enough to go to the hospital, he went to a Dr. the next day to get a "note for work"

  2. Eegads...There's a lot of ppl willing to indicate a willingness to kill with a picture of them next to the statement..

Wouldn't want to be a juror in that trial...I'm due to go to the county seat for jury duty very soon...hope it's not a racial thing or anything involving kids if I'm picked...thought my honesty would get me out of it last time and they made me foreman... <_<

funny you should mention the thing about anything involving kids,.........how could the defense think it a good idea to have a jury on this case consisting of all women, and if I'm not mistaken, all have children? you would think they would want a few jurors with no children.

  3. I think he should get off scott free although he might well not because of the horse crap spin the media has put on this.

I've been sitting home recovering from surgery the past few weeks and have watched a lot of the trial, no doubt Zimmerman is a little off.............it's very odd to see how someone could have acted so calmly after just fighting for his life and then killing someone in order to survive, I don't think many cops could have acted the way he did immediately afterwards and his story is to text book to be 100% believable............just my opinion.

  4. I hope Zimmerman is convicted of something....He should not get off Scott free. I hope the general public accepts the verdict...and there is no rioting/looting.

I would be surprised if he's not at least convicted on the manslaughter charge............gonna be interesting.

  5. if anyone deer hunted Sate Land in the Catskills back during when there was a hunter behind every tree, can tell you that the odds of being hit with a rifle slug are pretty slim..........

  6. Wow.......that's news to me. I usually carry a pen and a small cable tie inside the tag holder . I'd like to know if this regulation is written anywhere......or if it even exists.

    I don't think it exists.....

  7. If that's the case, we need to pressure them to lower the cost of a hunting license! Shows you how much the DEC knows what its doing. Implementing regulations based on peer pressure sounds like a good plan to me!

I've always said, if my license restricts me in a way that others aren't restricted to, there should be a lower license fee...............if one hunter can shoot any buck, why am I subjected to the same fee that restricts what I can shoot?

  8. No it isnt, DEC was pressured into putting ARs into place by groups of people that want them. They (DEC) have said multiple times that ARs do nothing for herd health.

Look, I know full well that ARs do work to accomplish what they are meant for. They are not meant to fix B to D ratio, they are not meant to make a more "healthy herd". ARs are meant to let the low hanging fruit get bigger (so to speak). Thats all.

The problems downstate will not get fixed just with ARs. You will NEVER have the type of herd we have in WNY. Why? You dont have the soil. You dont have the habitat. You have alot of public ground. You have more hunters per square mile. Can you improve some of those things? Sure, but you will never make it like it is here, no matter how many points on a side there has to be for you to pull the trigger.

    perfectly put............thank you.

  9. AR's allow them to rebuild the herd. It protects yearling bucks. More bucks= rebuilding the herd. I'm sure they also reduced the number of DMP's they give out there too.

they reduced them for one year and then jacked them back up.........I'd be happier if they cut out dmp's for a year or two rather than impose the AR's beforehand.

  10. That's for people a lot smarter than me to decide LOL! I know that the reason the DEC implemented AR's in the Catskill areas is because they deemed the herd unhealthy.

that must mean non-existent..........they should consider cutting back on dmp's and rebuilding the herd before they move on to AR's.

  11. What I think is stranger still is that you need to wear one in the Southern Zone but not in the Northern Zone.  Since I do the majority of my hunting up North I am constantly forgetting to put it on if I just decide to go out back of the house for a bit.

I don't think it's Southern Zone, but within the Catskill Park area.

  12. and did you know if you don't have your backtag on, its presumed you're hunting without a license and can be ticketed accordingly?..........and they're not required if you're hunting within the Catskill Park, interesting to say the least.

  13. Lol some of you guys are just like my father. I can give him all the info and science in the world but he will still shake his head. I don't know if it's just in rebellion to not being able to do what you want. You can refute the science all you want but its still truth. Admit that you don't want to be told what to do. Man up and admit you don't care what is best for the herd but what is best for you. There is ample proof that ARs help buck/doe ratios and overall hard quality. Is not about more bone. Is about a healthy herd we can ALL enjoy.

AR's have nothing to do with buck to doe ratios......they're about allowing yearling bucks to mature........and I don't believe NY has an unhealthy deer herd at all.

  14. You can rest a vertical bow while you aim as well, you just need the right stabilizer to do it. The compound has its fair share of advantages over a crossbow as well. Whats your point?

Bottom line is that they both kill in the same manor at the same distances.

Nobody is trying to force anything on you, you will still have the choice NOT to use a crossbow. You guys must be of the same cloth that wants mandatory antler restrictions so that others arent shooting deer that you think shouldnt be killed.

my point is, that those are the reasons anti crossbow hunters say they are of such a great advantage over what many consider traditional bows....and I am not a rabid anti crossbow person, they would have the same effect on the deer season as the youth season did, minimal at best.......I would gladly take crossbow use in archery season over the antler restrictions that are being shoved down some of our throats.

  15. No, a crossbow IS a bow. You really should lay off the power trip and stop telling people what they should, shouldnt, can or cant say. :fuck:

yes, a crossbow by definition is a bow.......but, one removes several of the difficulty factors that make bow hunting a challenge to many............the simple facts that a crossbow does not require it be drawn in the presence of the animal, can be rested on an object as you peer through the sights as the animal approaches from a distance waiting for the right shot, and requires no muscle strength to hold at full draw, have got to be the biggest reason anti crossbow people say they don't belong in archery season....and I can't say I don't agree.
