  1. it would be interesting to know what each person's bowhunting background is..........when I started, recurves were the norm and compounds were just coming onto the scene. Treestands had yet to take off and most hunting was done from groundblinds. There is no doubt that bowhunting has gotten easier and easier, and there is no doubt that is because of the modern equipment............I guess if you never saw the way bowhunting was when it first started, you'll never understand how some are seeing the way the sport is changing, and not for the better.

  2. I don't get your point ...Im not jealous ( I can spare 1600.00 easily) I'm not fat and Im not a slob. So whats your deal Junior? If you have to pay to shoot an animal, as apposed to scouting and  stalking it yourself...Okay...

Bet your trophy room is awesome!!!

I know he's got an awesome porcupine mount in his trophy room.......that and stuff he's paid guide's tell him to shoot, other than that we may never know.

  3. I'm glad you guys view my pics from 2 years ago. I'm very flattered.

Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2

then maybe you should have thought twice about posting that big crossbow kill......more embarrassing than anything.,,,,,were you not an accomplished hunter two years ago?

  4. when I was a kid, I shot a porcupine, I felt so bad I covered it with rocks and ran away..........I never told anyone before today.............telling you guys feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders...............since then, I've kept to trapping mice, another stupid rodent.

  5. Oh yeah they were given to me a while back from an old timer they don't look to great but I have a bunch of them how do I know if they are worth anything I wouldn't mind getting rid of some of them they are too heavy thanks jjb4900

Southshore waterfowlers has a few shows each year...check them out and bring the decoys to the next show.

  6. The funniest part of this thread is people defending the city life on a forum for a country way of life. I love pizza from the BX, but let's not forget it's good because the water comes from the catskills.

I didn't realize this thread was only for people who are for a country way of life........now I gotta go back and read 18 pages to find that part.

  7. just look at what happened with muzzleloaders.......there is zero difference between modern, scoped, inline muzzleloaders and a shotgun or rifle........the only difference is that now we can shoot does on a regular or archery tag..........in fact, my hunting group have discussed scrapping the regular season and spending more time muzzleloader hunting, and why not? we have guns that can shoot 200 yards and take either a buck or doe without dealing with the crowded regular season.

  8. Have to get a new car.  Here are the criteria.  I hardly drive it.  Other than occasional errands and summer scouting, most of my driving is during hunting season when I go hunting.  This means some dirt road and snow will be involved.  During the rest of the time, my dad drives the car.  We're looking to go halfsies on it.  I want some light off-road capabilities while he wants fuel-economy, fuel economy, and fuel economy.  All his driving is in the city (groceries and picking up grand kids from school, etc).  We both agree that we don't want to spend a lot on a car.  Previously, we drove a Camry.  The Camry was enough to allow me to do what I needed to do but there were definitely some spots I decided not to test.

So the question is can the Prius do the same things a my old Camry can do or if the fuel economy not worth all the towing I'll end up paying for?

you should never mention Toyota Prius on a hunting forum...........

  9. You can't win in NY.  You are either viewed as a snob if your from downstate or a hick if your from upstate.

I think within New York the snob, hick  thing is true.........you venture outside and tell people you're from NY, and right away they associate you with big city living.

  10. I do understand what you are saying, but it really has nothing to do with the point I am making. You are just taking something to an extreme. Using that logic in the reverse, you might as well limit bow season to home made longbows that you have to hew from a maximum of 3 pieces of wood. All wood arrow shafts and flint arrowheads with sinew to hold everything together.

that's why NY needs to restructure their hunting seasons......I would have no problem allowing true primitive weapons an earlier season, whether it be true primitive bows or true primitive muzzleloaders.

  11. Ha-ha .... and as it turns out, those old-timers were exactly right weren't they? They claimed that the compound would be the precedent for further encroachments of other weapons on bow hunting. And by golly, isn't that exactly what is happening. Kind of makes you wonder just what will follow the crossbow.

Hypocrite? Maybe just a good student of bowhunting history might be an appropriate description.

    good point.

  12. Being from downstate, I can honestly say that downstate is the reason New Yorker's have the reputation of being rude, pompous people.....you shop, drive around here or just generally see the way people act and you'll see what I mean..............go upstate and just about every person you pass will give you a wave down here? good luck.........my wife and I were in Jamaica (not Jamaica Queens) a few weeks ago, and it took about 5 minutes to pick out the people from NY.

  13. Wait until we get to the Greeks.  And since you started this thread, we will spare NO mercy on you.

Greeks, that reminds me of the invention of the condom..........the first condom was invented by a Greek Sheep farmer who made it from the intestine of a lamb...........years later it was perfected when it was actually removed from the lamb prior to being used.
