what guns do you plan on hunting with, and are you interested in hunting for food or just to get out there and harvest (kill) animals?
-
oops sorry, yeah semi auto.........these are public ranges, and yes we all pay the same............I was just trying to point out how the guy who goes there to shoot a few rounds may be turned off and develop an image of the guy with the "assault weapon".........kinda like going to the movies with the loud jackass behind you.

So do you think NYS will expand the crossbow season
jjb4900 replied to MACHINIST's topic in CrossBow Hunting
I can see how hunters new to the archery scene would opt for a crossbow as opposed to a recurve or compound...........that would eliminate new "archers" picking up what is considered traditional archery gear by some, thus killing what many consider real bowhunting........... -
they do exist...I believe they are called "melanistic".
-
I will add this, and I'm sure I'll be attacked for it.....but, pre Safe Act, Pre Cuomo, I have had a few days at the range ruined by guys rolling in with their duffle bags full of high capacity magazines and their automatic weapons shooting as fast and furious as they could with brass flying everywhere with zero consideration for the guy next to them. I would normally pack up and go home when these guys would show up.......so, I can fully understand how someone could easily bring this image with them when they see guys show up to go deer hunting with what is percieved as the same gear.
-
oh, make no mistake, if there was no magazine capacity restriction you would definitely see guys with fully loaded 30 round magazines out deer hunting...........but I've seen irresponsible hunters out there regardless of the weapon or season, once again it boils down to being ethical and responsible.
-
they're all the same to some people, it's all based on looks..........it could be a single shot that looks like an "assault weapon" and it would still generate the same feeling to some.

they're right next to the "Hail Mary" arrows......... -
I see some guys agree with him..........

what's the max temp. on yours? I have a Nesco that maxes out at 155 degrees............5 - 6 hours is all it takes on mine, once I hit the 5 hour mark I take out the thinner pieces and leave the thicker another hour or so. I'm pretty happy with this recipe. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Docs-Best-Beef-Jerky/

isn't it bad enough that the general, non gun owning, non hunting public and outright anti's, look at the AR's as nothing more than weapons of mass destruction that have no other purpose than to kill people? all they need to see is a politician pointing to a picture of one and saying that nobody needs one of these to go hunting, and they all gasp and nod their heads in total agreement............I personally don't like the looks and feel of one, but for the guy who does, more power to him if he's a responsible guy.
-
you should have sent them to Wooly, I would think he would have done something exciting with them.
-
I guess it helps them get into the role of doing things the way they were done back in the day..............much like the guys you see at the range dressed in Combat / Military clothing with the AR's, many of them have never been in the military or law enforcement, but they like to pretend.
-
There's no doubt that AR's fall short of what some may consider classic "deer rifles", and I'm fairly certain that is based purely on looks alone...I know it is for me, I have no desire to own or hunt with one because I think they are just not good looking guns, that being said, it doesn't bother me in the least bit if that's what someone else is attracted to and chooses to carry that type of gun afield...........I bet the guys who rolled into camp with the first automatic rifles way back when, got some pretty odd looks and comments directed at them.
-
what? now I know you can't be for real....that's the stupidest thing I've ever read on here.
-
ya think? not to mention he had no idea what he was really being asked............pretty much the standard answers someone in his position would give so as not to offend anyone, we all know what happens to someone who discriminates based on race, religion or sexual orientation in this Country
-
I bet if they only gave out 5 via lottery they would get thousands of applications.....and $$.
-
as long as regular cigarettes are legal and continue to create health problems, I really don't care if marijuana is legalized and has the same effects on those who use it............I'm sure there is no shortage of people who suck down a 12 pack of beer, or a quart of booze everyday along with their daily double digit cigarette habit and create as much, if not more, of a public safety and health risk as a person who smokes pot.
-
boy, that was great.......thanks for sharing.

Penny for your thoughts

I would guess that if your child or other loved one was able to get their hands on one of your guns and blow their brains out, or kill someone else while playing with it,due to some negligence on your part, the guilt of living with that would be punishment enough.......... -
oh, I see this happened at Walmart.........nevermind.
-
yeah, I was under the impression that a lot of pop up ads and advertisements are based on your search history.............
