When do folks put their cameras in
defrazzle replied to eagle rider's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
PUBLIC land is not worrisome, it's the unscoupoulus people that pass by your "stuff" and think, "Hey, I found it, must have been abandoned, so I will take it.". I hope they never come into my neck of the public woods...... Maybe you should put a note on your camera, "THERE IS ANOTHER CAMERA TAKING A PICTURE OF YOU!! DON'T TAKE THIS ONE" LOL -
I have been seeing more deer this year than in the past years.....at least on camera. LOL, I just wonder where they all go after the first day of the season! The 10 pointer from last year has not been seen yet.....still waiting as he was not taken last year. Attached are a two clips, two young bucks....4 and spike. MDGC0031.AVI MDGC0021.AVI

Why Trail Cam Placement is Essential for Deer

I also agree that whitetail deer will observe any change in their environment, which includes the positioning of trail cameras. Initially they may be hesitant and somewhat wary of traveling in the direction of the "new" environment. However, those same deer will become accustomed to the change and then will accept the new addition to their "area". I have had my cameras at a height of 3-3.5 feet and have not had any issues with whitetail deer avoiding the area. In fact, I have pictures where the deer look right into the camera and all I have on the picture is their head! Now whether that is because I live in a truly remote area and the deer are really inquisitive. -
Another Mass Shooting...upstate NY this time.

I just moved from Clinton County to Essex County. I first got my permit in Clinton County in 1982 and back then there were all sorts of restrictions, like you can only use the handgun for target practice, plinking, hunting, fishing etc. Mostly this was due the judge that was in "office" at the time. Now, when I transferred my permit, the questionnaire that Essex county sent me asked what king of permit I wanted. Well, I marked FULL CARRY, CONCEALED, NO RESTRICTIONS........ Yesterday I picked up my permit and voila.........full carry - no restrictions. -
DEMO = Demonstration These are probably like REFURB = refurnished, but I think DEMO more closely resembles those cameras that were used in demonstrations either at a show, dealer, sales samples etc. Many times they come with a full warranty and can be a GREAT value.

I live and hunt in the Adirondack park.....there is LOTS of land . You need to get out and start walking some of the properties. There is land here where the deer have never seen a human being! I know....they were so close to me I asked them. LOL...seriously, there are parcels and locations where no one hunts. Most hunt near a road or public campsite, maybe one mile in at most. I take a boat across a lake, hike in and spend the entire day hunting. You can also hike in, set up a campsite with a tent and use it for a base camp to hunt out of. Good luck to you

Welcome Brett......hope your ambitions become a reality, those of education and hunting!

Upper New York? There is plenty of it! Could you be more specific? I live in the North Country.....way up in upper New York...right near Lake Placid ..but many think the Catskills or Albany or Rochester etc are "Upstate". So, where is your "upper NY?" I also had a German Short-hair that I brought back with me from Europe....loved to hunt pheasants and just had a natural instinct for ANY game bird. If a crow flew by, he would just ignore it, but let a pheasant, duck, goose, fly by at 100-200 yards and he would just look stop all activity and stare at it.

Which Camera to Get - LLbean.com
defrazzle replied to irish_redneck's topic in Trail Camera Reviews and Info
I have 3 Moultries. An older one I-90 or something like that, that takes 6 "D" cells . Takes great day time and night shots. I have had it for over 4 years and the only problem I have had with it was that the LCD display would not stay on after about 3 years of use. Sent a nice letter to Moultrie with the unit and they repaired it for FREE! Last year I bought two more new Moultrie D55IRXT's which take 6 "C" cells each and these two are running 24/7 on my property. Battery life is super! I installed these two cameras last August and they are still running with the same batteries. I checked them about two weeks ago and they were at 35% power. I am very pleased with the operation of all three cameras and also their free repair after 4 years of use. I would not like to change 12 AA batteries like some units, but 6 batteries is OK as they do last a long time. I am staying with Moultrie. -

ALL 10+ SHOT MAGAZINES ARE GONE
defrazzle replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I really recommend reading the entire law, whether it is poorly written or not, or if it leads you to further question, is not the point. THIS is the law now (until it gets repealed - good luck). You will find the law very interesting. Again, for those that may not have read my earlier post...I have again attached the entire law for your bathroom reading!
