  1. looks good. at least you are doing something with yours. more than i can say for myself. after 49 birds i got 2 mounts and about 45 plastic bags of turkey parts in the freezer. i"ll get to it someday maybe....... or not. i would keep the tag right where you got it unless maybe i had a plate with the info on it. looks good.
  2. killed one in Arkansas about 15 years ago the same as that one. 9" beard, full fan, no spurs.??????
  3. almost to the point where any bird will do. heavy vegetation, educated birds, ect. good job.
  4. way to go. congrats. great story too.
  5. i suspect all states that have birds, have "good" birds. i have killed good birds in pa, ar, and sc. the delima i have with hunting pa, and in oh (although i have not hunted in ohio yet) is that the seasons open so close together. which isnt the problem really, the problem lies in the fact i still need a job. and having a job means limited time during the open seasons in these states. i think uncle nicky may have the right ideal. i was able to hunt in sc this spring mainly because the season opened on april 1. that is the same with many if not all southern and mid-west states, thier seasons open earlier than in the northern states. some states have a march opener. also some southern states allow more than 2 birds per season while also allowing more than one bird harvested per day. sc has a five bird season limit and you can take 2 per day if you want. if hunting south is not an option, imo pa or oh is your best bet. the states more east seem to have very complicted regs. and hard to find land to hunt. hope this helps and good luck and let us know where you are going to go.
  6. congrats on the bird. btw you always measure the longest strand in a beard. so its a big 10 inch. way to go.
  7. thanks a bunch for all the congrats. here is bird two. hate to be done but, walleye season is open.
  8. well, since i posted this, my Hero has taken a turn for worst. they say he has what appears to be renal cancer. with out surgery, they give him several days to a couple of months. with surgery, with his health being so poor, he may not make it off the table. he could go home and wait for death, instead he choose to face it head-on and fight death. that's MY HERO. surgery today or tomorrow. all prayers and positive thoughts appreciated. thank you all in advance.
  9. hands down, my DAD. he is the only hero i ever had, wanted or needed for anything and everything. at 79 he is not in that great of shape, but still kicking. and still my HERO!
