Sometimes one simple idea evolves into something else with a little twist to it. How 'bout an antler slice bracelet just in time for Valen-TINES Day!
-
We used to do yearly get-togethers with a bunch of local fellow shed hunters from the area on another site. Everyone brought their antlers and mounts and set up some tables in the parking lot to put everything on display. We picked the Stone Tool Show at Letchworth Park for the meet up location. It worked out great as the date was set, and the location was open to the public free of charge before the park opened. Food and drinks were available inside the show if you needed anything. The theme of the Tool Show fit right in with the tables of "bones" we had on display and drew in outside visitors to gawk at all the antlers we brought. After everyone got caught up talking about and taking pictures of their horns, we made our way into the show to look around and check things out. worked out great for the guys who brought their families for both events without making it feel like they were just there to hang out with their hunting buddies.

Just a hacksaw blade. Cut the antlers on an angle for the long slices and it gives you a good spot to drill your ring hole for attaching it to a keychain, or necklace, or zipper pulls.. or whatever your making with them. For the round buttons I cut straight across the antler.

Antler slice and some old, dirty, copper field wire I picked up the other day while out hiking. Was supposed to be a necklace charm but I didn't have the supplies on hand for that.

I need to get me one of them Brownings! Damn nice shots right there! Got a nice set of a wings out hawk with my crappy Spypoint to hold me over until I can upgrade.

I prefer to call it "po-boys Photoshop"...,lol Yep- you got me. The image was shot normally but rotated 180 degrees for effects. The ammo trailer bolts are just reflections off the brass on a sheet of aluminum foil lit by window light. Pretty simple set-up anyone could pull off with a little effort, but deceiving if you don't know what you're looking at. Oh well, maybe I'll stump you all with my next trick, lol

No wonder I can't find them. I can't see a shed in that first pic knowing that it is there! Yep- just to the right of the broken stick poking out from the left. It looks sort of yellowish in color and seems out of place.

It doesn't happen all the time, but every once in a while I'll set up a shot and it comes out just as I had planned...... almost! Feels good!

Another nugget today! You guys that find them in fields got it made, lol Centered in the first pic when I first spotted it.

Picked up another radiosonde on yesterdays hike. This one wasn't marked where it was launched from or on what date, and it didn't have a parachute like my last find, but it did have a return envelope so it's heading home again! I must be in the fly-way for these things or something. Never did hear any information back from the last one I returned, so I guess there really are no perks to finding them other than being able to say you found one.... or two now. The woman at the post office told me in 30 years of being there she had never seen one of these come through the door when I dropped the last one off.

They all look pretty good to me as far as a steady hold goes. Looks more like they may be a little "soft" due to missing the focus on a few of them shooting through some tight spots. One little twig can mess everything up if your autofocus locks on it.

Hiking around the woods the other day when I noticed all the vines growing in, and remembered I wanted to make a wreath out of them. So I sat down and began "weaving" a 20ft length of this stringy plant I pulled from the treetops. That went so well that I yanked another 60ft loose and weaved it all into the thicker wreath. When I got home I had to add my signature "antler touch" that I put on everything I make. All my little sawed off pieces work great on these as the ends are tucked in anyhow. This was just an experimental dry-fit trial run for now. I've got the weaving part down to an art already and the imagination is starting to take over again! So many possibilities already racing through my little brain as you can tell! I never thought I'd say this, but I hope I find a bunch of fork horns this year, lol. The spikes gotta go! Planning on building some bird houses to mount in each link of the vine chain.

Getting a little more variety now that the carcasses are thawing out. Lots of hawks, few fox, a big fat coon, and a skank!

You need to send certified letters defining boundary lines to anyone you want to keep out if you don't want to post it properly. That's it. Simple. Easy peezy. Then there's no grey area at all involved. I speak from the receiving end of one of those letters.(not ticketed though) I suppose if you wanted to be a real dick, you could send them to folks who you have never seen or have never even stepped foot on your property in advance even if they never had any intentions. .... but IF, or WHEN they do, you'll be covered to press trespassing charges with no other action required besides picking up the phone.
