I want to do a 3-4 day getaway with the wife in August. Looking for somewhere nice in the Adirondacks. Something with some privacy and close to some good hiking and canoeing spots. Any ideas?
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet since I haven't gone through the thread, but the Ruger American is a great little gun. I recently purchased one in 22mag and its a good little shooter and seems well made. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
I am waiting to hear back from Maine, NH, and Vermont on moose, and Kentucky for elk. All are pretty low chance, but my preference points are building.

I've had good luck with the owl hooter once the songbirds start. I use it to pinpoint roosting location. Right now, I would say about 5:00 is a good time to start.
Same for me this last weekend. I tagged out Saturday on a decent tom. I called one in for my buddy on Sunday, his first ever turkey. Also seen two others in full strut while driving.
I shot a jake Thursday that was 17lbs. He dwarfed the jake that was with him causing me to mistake him for a tom. I thought that was pretty big for a jake.
