That is were most of my experience lies, southern tier tracking. I have said before, you almost always have to kill the deer the first time you see it. When I track around here I move at the same pace as when I still hunt. Slow and deliberate.

I look at the distance between steps more than anything else. When they start to approach 20 inches I start getting excited. Another thing I read and have found to be true is that mature buck put more of their weight in the rear of their foot.
  8. Now till May I will scout as much as I can. Hopefully more so this year than in previous years.
  9. My favorite recipe is to stuff a tenderloin with crumbly blue cheese, chopped red onion, and spinach leaves. Coat with Buck's seasoning and bake.
  10. TreeGuy, I emailed the NYSBBC records chairman and asked. He said he can help you out, but the best way would be for you to call him. Send me a PM if your interested and I will give you his number.
  11. I am not sure if we have the records broken down into individual counties. I can contact our records chairman of you would like.
  12. Spend about ten times the amount of time I did this year scouting. Other than that, I want to find some good hunks of big public land to do some tracking. Either on tug hill or the southern Adirondacks. I enjoy tracking now and have had some success, I just need more room to roam.
  13. I think it has something to do with the price of tea in China
  14. My soon to be bother in law is very high up the law enforcement ladder on a national level. He also takes his job extremely seriously. If he was to see a post like that, there is no doubt in my mind that he would investigate who these three LEO friends are. You should be careful boasting about such things on they internet. That being said, I believe the old saying runs true, empty cans rattle the most
  15. Doe urine is centered between the two back hoof marks usually. Buck pee is often more in front of where their hind legs would be. It also seems to me that buck will drip for a bit after they're done leaving a piss trail as to where doe usually leave a nice little hole like in Sam's pic.
  16. I believe the difference between guys who consistently kill mature bucks and those who don't is their level of aggressiveness. Constantly doing the same thing is only going to give you the same results. You need to go to the animal to kill it, whether that is tracking, still hunting, our simply setting up dangerously close to their bed, it's all the same idea.
  17. I wouldn't call it a fascination, but I like big 6's too. Here is my biggest 170lbs. dressed
