  1. That's for climbing hills. Puts you up on your toes and in a more upright position when on a steep incline.
  2. Great job! Any buck killed by tracking is a buck well earned. Congrats
  3. I am currently using a Dozier. Check out Arizona custom knives and vintage knives. They both sell Doziers. You have to check their sites daily and get lucky enough to catch what you want, but it beats a 2-3 year wait
  4. Looks just like the bucket that a Buck Boiler is made out of
  5. I have done some hunting in Redfield and Osceola. There number of deer has really grown the last 10 years up there.
  6. Very nice Joe! May I ask where it's located?

    Hanging Deer

I was taught that it's disrespectful to hang any deer by its neck, so I never have.
  8. You left yourself wide open with that statement [emoji12]
  9. I just want to add to the guys who say they wear red that red doesn't stand out anything like orange does in the woods. In low light and from a distanced red doesn't protect you at all.

    Piebald

I know of that one too. He was frequenting a property I turkey hunt.

    Piebald

Here is a pic of two pictures of one I killed in 2004 down in Hector. Not as white, but I wasn't passing her. Everyone knew she existed and wanted to kill her. I figure she had a better chance of a swift death with me than with some of the whoople heads that were hunting nearby.

    Piebald

I would kill it. Pie bald genetics are inferior and bad for the herd. Its not just a lot of white in the coat, its also a whole lot of other inferior traits. Short legs, short lower jaws, smaller body size, etc. Sometimes pie bald deer have other poor qualities, but a normal colored coat. The reason I know this is about 7 years ago I shot a doe that had a fully developed lower jaw that was about 4 inches shorter than the top. I researched it and was told it came from the deer having pie bald genetics.
  13. Nothing is 100%, but here is one place http://www.deerage.com
  14. This. Tracking is the best way to learn whitetails in my opinion. It doesn't always have to be for big buck either, I tracked and killed a doe this morning. In smaller hunks of land, you just need to slow down and keep your eyes peeled. You usually have to kill them the first time you see it since you can't afford to push one too far.
  15. I am with the first fatal shot crowd. That's what makes the most sense to me.
  16. I did a lot of research and supposedly the best way to completely degrease a skull is to let it soak in soapy water for months. Taxidermist seem to prefer clear Dawn dish soap.
