my first year deer hunting someone shot a nice 8 point from my stand. I was still young so I wasnt allowed to go up that morning because the wind was blowing really bad and it was a wooden stand. the next morning I am on stand and i saw the gut pile and the trespassers came back. we confronted them and they had no idea what the problem was. Our neighbor called the police because he saw them dragging the deer through his property. Some people just feel like they own anything they see.... that deer was much bigger than anything ive killed btw : ) I didnt sleep for weeks...im not bitter though!!!!!

unfortunately I live in the city so when I get up there for a couple of days I am wasting little time on the couch. I try to stay out as much as I can, I hate sitting when its hot though. I hope the weather cools off quick

I guess Ill sit out a few times when Im alone. No point doing it if theres people going in and out of the cabin

I have a few apple trees in the field in front of my house. Loaded with apples this year. The field is about 120 yds long from the cabin to the road and about 60-70 yards across. I never really thought of hunting it since its right out front but this weekend I had a nice 8 point there on Friday night around 5. 2 more bucks Sunday morning (4pt and spike). Then at 8am the same 8pt and another 8pt that looked bigger came out. I can put a blind out on the wood line. I'm always hauling stuff a mile up the mountain to hunt and they are coming out right in front of the house. I know scent control is huge with whitetails. How is it that with people around, cars, wood burning, all this stuff they still come out into that field

So. Im shooting tight groups with the new bow, usually about an inch left of bullseye. I tried my new broadheads yesterday and They were grouping but at about an inch right of bullseye and 1-2 inches high. What do I do? Is this too much?
-
Trying Magnus buzzcutz this year. Heard great things about them, and they have 100% guarantee. If u bend or break a blade they replace it for you
-
Hope everyones doing well. Im looking to switch broadheads... anybody use Rage or G5 montec... I currently use grim reapers but I am not crazy about them. I would like to try the montecs fixed because I know they are better if you hit bone but I used muzzys in the past and they didnt fly like my field points did. If anyone uses them let me know how they fly in comparison to field points. Ive only heard good things about rage (I think they have a new xtreme with 2.3 inch cut) so I have no problem going with them but It would be nice to be able to sharpen broadheads instead of replacing them.

Finally picked up my new bow and my bow guy recommended setting my first pin 25 yards and using it for anything 0-30. Thoughts??
-
Does Torque have a big effect on accuracy when your shooting shorter distances? I guess by short I would say <30 yards.

I have to check it out. Ive never been across where the houses are

All good suggestions...We have to figure something out. Its just annoying because I would love to buy a 4wheeler and some other stuff and leave it up there but I cant leave anything. We have neighbors that are there year round. We even have someone that lives in town go up and check on it every once in a while. Im going to look into the trail cams with the live feeds or that I can DL the pictures from home. It has to be dumb kids messing around... they did alot of work for about $30 worth of pipes.. I wish they would have gotten in touch, I would have gave them more to take a hike and not leave me with this headache of having to worry about redoing the plumbing instead of hunting.
-
I guess I can put one to see if people are driving in. I doubt I'd be able to hide one near the house.

Does anyone use any type of surveillance at camps. Our hunting cabin was robbed again. Absolute animals. They know we aren't up there for months at a time and they take advantage. I went up last week to set up a food plot and found the copper pipes of our plumbing ripped out and missing!!! Along with a tv and some ammo. I don't know if its worth it or even possible to try and leave a camera running year round. Either that or just keep praying they try something when I'm there.
-
would you set up on the tree line? or on one of the trees in the middle. I havent been up since last year. I have to check out what trails the deer are using.

$575 new left over. bare bow. Felt great when I shot it. Only thing is Im coming from a old bow so Im pretty sure anything would have felt good to me lol
-
Ok. so My uncles land has a lake at the far end of the property. On the other side of the lake there is houses, kids running around..the whole 9 yards. On his side is a field which I feel could be promising to bow hunt. I would say the Lake is a couple of hundred yards for his to the other side. Do you think the activity on the other side of the lake would stop deer from going out into the field on his side?? I am going to try to post a pic if I can figure out how

I just upgraded too. I had an old browning bow that like I was drawing back 1000lb. I picked up a bear carnage. Cant wait for Oct 1!
-
crap I never thought of that. I dont know if the viper is adjustable
-
sounds like all good advice. I just bought a new bow and climber...cant wait to get out there and practice from that height. I need to spend some time up there before season starts to get used to the being 20 feet up, I dont want to be shaking up there come opening day. Im usually at 15 feet. I know another 5 feet up doesnt sound like much but when your a little uncomfortable with heights its quite a bit.

Great now Im twitching to get out of this damn office and get in the woods for a few days
-
Thats awesome! what did you plant (brand)
-
I dont have the pleasure of having a nice field for a food plot on my property. I have one field but we have to travel through it to get to and from our stands and it is right by our cabin so I dont think its a conducive spot for a plot. Does anyone have any experience with plots in the woods, near a stand location. I looked some stuff up and it looks like its pretty simple to do and there are some that can be planted in august but Im not sure what to trust. I dont want to go through the work if its bull @$%#. Nothing huge of course.
-
I was thinking 20 feet so I will try to stay close to that. If i went to 32 feet i would probably be scared to even move lol

I dont pay for DMP but I bought my Lifetime 5 or 6 years ago. I was told that if you get one now you will still have to pay $10 for the dmp.
