  1. Shoot it. If you slit its throat, throw rocks at it, drown it...your still doing the same thing just not as humane as shooting it
  2. Everyone's safe now that you can only shoot 5 rounds before reloading...:sigh: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I just realized the pic has a curse in it...if it needs to be erased Let me know how to erase it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I am pretty confident I will get slaughtered for this but if anyone tells me that hypothetically if legal sunset is 4:30 and a monster 10 point (or whatever you consider a monster) walks under your stand at 4:31 you wouldn't shoot it.. I'm very very confident in saying your full of shit. If you shoot 1 minute passed legal sunset your just as guilty as if you shoot 30 minutes passed..that being said, the kids excited about his first deer harvest and some people are in here looking for any reason to crucify him. Give it a rest...Happy thanksgiving Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. happened to me to. Go to your settings and make sure your location services are on for that app or it wont find you
  6. Ive always been a ladder stand guy but bought a climber this year. I was about 22 ft up on monday with 15 mph winds. It was a bit scary because of the tree swaying but that thing was rock solid. after your up there for half hour you get comfortable. I will admit though that the 2 deer Ive killed from the ground were the most exciting for me. I had both of them pass me at 5 yards, I could smell them when they passed
  7. Do you know more or less where? And state land or private?
  8. I personally don't use processors because I don't like how they cut and am nervous of what meat I'm getting back but I could careless if someone else uses 1. If it has 0 effect on you then why would you care. Last year there was a thread on here where people were bashing each other based on whether they hand there deer from the head or back legs..As if the deer really gives a crap how it's hanging after you slaughtered it
  9. It seems like on this site a thread titled "it's sunny out" could bring out the elite super hunters
  10. You may be right. I just had a couple of bad experience so I guess I shouldn't throw all of them in the same boat...I also had both my deer cut the opposite of how I asked as well so it wasn't just one thing
  11. No shot everyone gets their own deer back... I just consider butchering the deer as part of the hunt now.
  12. Is 25mph wind too much to be in a tree stand tomorrow?
  13. Forecast says Between 20-25mph winds over here tomorrow. Is that too windy to be in a tree stand??
  14. I am by no means saying that what the OP mentioned is not against the law, unethical or whatever but are you really comparing it to federal crimes which people go to jail for. Someone shooting a deer and someone raping someone or killing someone are totally different things...I don't know if "the law is the law" applies here
  15. They are obviously not doing the right thing but it would have to be pretty severe for me to call the police/DEC on my father...I only have one of those
  16. Thats 25 feet?? no way lol. I thought I was climbing up to 20 feet and i am nowhere near that height
  17. I took off Friday afternoon until Tuesday to get in a few days of bowhunting to try and get my first bow buck. As soon as I get to my property on Friday afternoon, I go check out a new stand I was excited to hunt and find my trail camera stolen. Fantastic.... I hunt saturday, sunday and Monday with only 1 hour break each day. Only Deer sighting was 2 small Does on monday around 330. Tuesday Morning I wake up to a few inches of snow. Now im excited again. The spots I hunt are pretty thick so something could pass by me 50 yards away and I wouldnt be able to see them, with snow I figure ill see some movement. Hunt 530-1015. Nothing. Im walking back down to the cabin to eat, pack up and go home..when I get down to walk through the field which is 50 yards above the cabin I see 2 deer eating under 2 old apple trees in the corner of the field about 100 yards away. Im carrying my bow, pack, and harness. I drop down to the floor and basically strip down. I nock an arrow, put my release on- I figured it was the 2 doe I saw the day before and I may be able to take one on the last day. I crawl and get up to a small pine tree in about 25 yards from the apple tree. I see the first doe walk into the tree line so I slid to the right of the tree hoping to get a shot at the second one as it walks off. Im in high grass now thats half patted down by snow. tough to move without making noise. I look at the other deer and as it turns its head I see a rack. -Holy crap- Now I left my pack behind, so no binoculars and no grunt tube. I finally get a look at him and he was a legal deer(AR in my zone), atleast six point might have been an 8 but I cant be sure. We got into a staring match for what felt like an eternity, my back is still hurting from standint bent over so he wouldnt see me move. In what I would say 10 minutes, he walked into the woods with the doe and then walked back to the tree. He kept looking at me, stomping and trying to figure me out. He kept pointing his nose up trying to smell me but the wind was blowing very hard into my face. If I had a grunt tube I think I could have lured him into the open because i think he thought I was another deer, Why else would he come back to me instead of staying with the doe? If I had know it was a buck from the get go I would have tried to crawl into the road and try and move around him instead of that high grass but thats the way it worked out. The second time he decided to walk off he was further out.. I drew on him 2 times but there was tall grass covering half his body and a couple of trees around. I would have had to sneak an arrow about 40 yards through a pretty small hole. Im not confident I could make that shot. I was extremely discouraged walking down from my stand that morning. Extremely pissed that I hadn't seen deer in 4 days. I was just looking forward to get a gun in my hand to increase the odds. If that happened to me during gun season I would have killed a nice 6-8pt buck but the experience wouldnt have been nearly as fun. I crawled to within 25 yards of a nice buck and had him fooled for a decent amount of time. The adrenaline rush I had during those 15-20 minutes are the reason I hunt and what I wish I could explain to my non hunter friends. It was 25 degrees with a stiff wind, All I had on was pants, a sweatshirt and a hat, left my jacket and gloves with the stuff I dropped and I wasnt cold for a second. Adrenalines an amazing medicine..My heart starts beating a bit faster everytime I replay the scenario in my head and think of what I could have done differently. Cant wait til Oct 1 2014... PS. If anyone is proficient at creating food plots and can give me some pointers let me know.. Im already picturing that spot for next year : ) I have a habit of trekking haf a mile up a mountain and having the deer a few steps from the house
  18. I read that any rub 3 inches or more is a mature buck...I have no way of telling if its true or not though
  19. I respect all views as well. Don't even mind if someone gives me their opinion. The only thing that bothers me is if someone's yapping about how hunting is horrible and it should be outlawed because or the poor innocent animals while their chewing on a steak.
  20. Nothing all day. Just saw a flock of turkey. Gets me excited for tomorrow. For some reason on my prop either everything's moving or it's totally dead.
  21. I haven't wounded a deer yet but if you see a post that says "I was wounded while walking around with my neighbors trailcam". It wasn't me...
  22. Put up a new stand 2 weeks ago at the far end of the property. Put out a camera. Got out of work early today and drove 3 hours all excited to see if there's any action. Get up there and the cameras gone .... O happy day
  23. Id be nervous not even having a phone on me. God forbid something happens how would you call for help
  24. another reason i do all day sits sometimes is because one of the stands i use most is about a half mile away from my cabin, 80 percent of it being an incline. not a fun walk to do 2x a day lol
