Oh boy... One of my first posts on this site was if anyone tries headshots. Let's just say I learned real quick to watch what I post here..
-
I always sit all day the first 2 days of gun season. Stand has to be comfortable though. Some stands I have to stand up and stretch every once in a while. I am going to be sitting 3 days straight this weekend. Hopefully I get a shot at something
-
We are big fans of neck too...
-
gives me chills. I just put up a ladder stand thats only 15 feet and has a shooting rest in front. I normally wouldnt wear a harness...im wearing one from now on. Not worth the risk
-
There is no way that people actually believe all the crap they say in these forums...I'll never believe that someone has never made a mistake while hunting..it's way too hard to be perfect at
-
and this week on the real housewifes on huntingny.com......
-
I just dl'd antler insanity a few weeks ago and the weather was accurate the 2 times I hunted after that. I like the app a lot
-
I hope this doesn't start a fight but isn't the "right thing" to do or the "ethical" thing to do have a little bit of opinion connected to it. What you see as right, someone else may see as wrong. Assuming everything's legal...
-
I agree with this. I haven't shot a deer bow hunting in rain, but I have gone days without seeing deer. And I don't mean a lot of deer and not being able to get a shot, or just a few deer...I mean, no deer. After a season of sits like that, if you see an 8 pointer I don't even know if I'd remember that it was raining out.
-
I dont care if you shoot it in the rain or not but if you know you wont take a shot in the rain then why even go out and hunt in the rain. Stay dry on your couch
-
deer never seem to stick around like that when they see me...
-
If its your first bow Id go to a shop. They will have left overs from last year. You may save $50-$100 if you buy one on archery talk or ebay but you will end up spending it anyway at a pro shop to have it set up properly
-
You can't seriously be considering that....would he ever call turn you in for something?
-
Its definitely not considered a firearm. If it was we would have to register it like we do every other firearm..
-
Congrats man. I'm expecting my first as well. Due in April, impeccable planning...I told my wife she can't touch me the 1 quarter of the year : )
-
If u have your own target go to willowbrook park in Staten Island. They have an archery field that I always go to but you need need your own target.
-
I switched to drop away and I like it much better. I'm not experienced enough to notice a speed difference but the reason I like the drop away much better is fletching damage. The whisker biscuit would ruin all my fletchings. Do damage with drop away

I think if your not going to eat most of the deer then donate the rest... I don't really understand why someone would throw out 40lbs (just throwing a # out there) and then go to the store and buy meat that's been fed crap it's whole life.
-
we use everything. Thats one reason i cant use butchers, they take everything off the bone (even when asked not to) . We take most of the meat off the bone and then make chops. Great for stew, or sauce for pasta. Love eating meat off the bone.. Thats basically how we use the ribs, they definitely have a different smell to them though. They are not my favorite. The only way I could describe it would be the smell/taste you get when eating a lamb chop? May not be perfectly accurate but thats all I can think of lol.
-
i watched one tv show this year where the guy walked over 3 or 4 huge dead racks on the way to stand. insane
-
I hate when I find 50 pointers dead on my property
-
might be brisket...happened to me last year.
-
I would say that is true. (Fawn more tender than a an old buck or older doe for that matter) I personally hunt for both I'd say. I would like to kill a doe and buck every year. If it gets closer to end of season than I would shoot anything to fill the freezer... I don't care what other people shoot, the only thing that irks me is that sometimes you get people who will shoot the first thing they see and then are begging people to take the meat...why shoot it in the first place.
-
does anyone drive atv to their stand... Im asking because I hunt with people that do and I wonder if the noise ruins the hunting for others.
-
Ha! I see what you did there.
