Beauties. Wish we had the room and a not so territorial shepherd. Good luck finding the right home!

Chops to be busted and plans to be made...

Depends on the course and conditions Biz. I am not doubting your skills, but even when I shot decent, I blew up a few times at oak hill pretty bad when the course was pro ready. But yeah, 30 is a lot of strokes. -

I will take TF minus 30 but no foot wedges, breaking branches, repositioning your ball or 3' gimme puts. The usual stuff. -

Anyone that hunts with a trad bow gets an extra 24 strokes - seems fair. -
If I towed a lot, I would want this: https://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/diesel-brothers/videos/the-ultimate-tow-rig

The amount of shine is usually a good indicator of club quality. Good call. -

I gave up golf when I realized I wasn't going to make the tour! I actually shot even par for 9 on a Robert Trent Jones course my second year playing, followed by a not so stellar 48 on the back nine. Its been all down hill since that even par 9. If we play, I am on TF's team. -
Way easier than waiting for an albino with 6" drops, split brows, forked G3s and a dozen kickers (all with mass).

Busted up just means you shot the buck that never backed down - the toughest buck in the woods. Nothing wrong with that. Or, it could mean the weakest buck in the woods that every other buck picked on. I will stick with the former.
-
Not sure I have any mouse squeak calls. I have a better shot with the fox due to pure numbers I think.
-
Guessing I will scare off all the predators and then the squirrels by trying to call predators Should be fun!

Back up plan when I throw in the towel on predators. lol -
Thanks. I have some hot .22LR CCI (don't recall the name). We have a lot of fox so perhaps sticking with the rabbit call is a good way to start.
-
Well shoot if they come in from downwind side, what can one do but hopefully be ready. I figure I will upgrade to a .223 if I enjoy it enough. Its more casual fun than serious for now. I am more curious whether I can even see one by calling.

Liver and onions ....talk to me
moog5050 replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
I love tripe (which I realize most won't eat), but have yet to find another organ meat that I really like. The heart is OK, but not my favorite. There is something about the consistency of liver that doesn't sit well with me. -
Going to head out on my first predator hunt on Saturday. I have been playing with a couple of mouth calls and yesterday Grampy sent me an electronic caller free of charge (THANKS DAVE!). Really don't know what I am doing but might as well dive in. Have two properties to try and figured I would head in around 8am, make sure my access and set up is downwind of where I hope to see either yotes or fox and try some calling. So far, my ears tell me that my mouth dog bark and howl are not so great, so I will likely try that as a last result, sticking with some coyote pup calls followed by dying rabbit calls (Dave suggested a series that I will try). Any other suggestions? I have seen a fair amount of fox and a few coyotes at one property. I generally see them in the woods, but should I try covering a bit more ground by setting up for the fields? Only problem with doing so is that I will be blowing into the area (or at least 1/2 of the area - think cross wind) I have seen them, so my inclination is try to hunt them on a just off wind in the woods. Also, I am limited to .22LR and my .25 PCP so shots will likely have to be fairly close (50yds and in I am thinking). Further supports a woods set up I think. Looking forward to trying a night set at some point but its probably best to start with a day hunt.

What's the coolest thing you found in the woods?

This is becoming disturbing. I better not open this thread again or I may not head back into the woods. -

Klassy Kat - another distinguished establishment. lol I actually bounced at Louie's Cordial for 3 or 4 years in college. That was really hitting bottom. But I made many life long friends (NOT!). -

I think S.D. stands for Stinking Dump aka Foxies. I was pretty sure that was Larry's hangout. -
Long story, but 30-06 was returned to police who returned it to me. I called the kid and asked for his info to send a reward and he absolutely refused. Trust me, I wanted to. Said he just wanted to do the right thing and would not take a thing.

I don't buy this story at all. A Mets guy washing his hands, c'mon.
-
I am sure I told the story about losing a CZ premium 30-06 by setting it on my truck (forgetting it) and driving off to the range only to have it returned to me by an honest young man. That was pretty amazing and truly a tribute to the young man. I also had a box with a new pottery barn chandelier fly out of my pickup unknowingly. My wife called as I was driving and said it was returned before I knew it was gone. There are still lots of honest helpful people around.

I lost my Elite 7 and fishhawk last year. Bought replacements and then found them both right where I stored em. Lol lost my wedding ring but hate wearing a ring anyways. Never replaced. Either my wife trusts me or figures I am not in high demand.

I had one of the early primes with the dual track cams. Shot great. Easy to tune.
