  1. Ive blown through both shoulders with my 30-06 many times and have never not had an exit wound. I think culvercreek happened to hit it right on the head as far as meat damage. A controlled expansion bullets like the TSX bullets usually have less meat damage. Ill take a .22-250 with a ttsx bullet vs a 30-06 with a standard remington core-lokt as far as meat damage is concerned.
  2. Thats terrible. Not sure theres any good way to combat the tick population unfortunately
  3. I think July 13th will work better for most people. Gives me time to buy some new flies too lol
  4. I love the BK, but I think chef might have won me over with the WB. That place was amazing
  5. Let me know when you'd like to come and we'll try to work something out
  6. Im part of a club out in huntington station with another member from here. More than happy to take you out there to shoot. Like Elmo said, we have a bowhunter rondevous every year as well as a ton of shoots (some are open to the public).
  7. I just cooked the smaller trout and it was the best trout I’ve ever eaten. It’s now ruined stocked trout for me lol. I’m considering going up in the rain this week just cause it’s so good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The smaller one I definitely will, but im still debating on the bigger one. Its easy to clean them that way so I figured I can always fillet the bigger one later.
  9. Here are the two fish chef caught. The little guy was 12 inches and the big guy was 18 inches. Can’t wait to head back to the Delaware. Idk if I’ll be able to fish the bk much after seeing the quality they have on the DE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I havent shot deer with more than 2 calibers so I guess the 20 guage is the least powerful caliber? Shot 4 with it and all but one dropped on the spot. The other one ran about 50 yards and piled up.
  11. What a great day yesterday. Finally started getting nymphing down with the help of chef. I think i got one hit, but when i went to set the hook, my tipped broke so who knows. We moved a little further upsstream and waited hours for fish to start rising consitently, but I couldnt get anything to take my dry. I tried sulphurs and elk hair caddis, but nothing worked. I definitely will be hitting the delaware from now on and need to get more flies.
  12. Hahaha fair enough, you got me there. We'll plan a day we can all make it up.
  13. Im going tomorrow. Ill Pm you my phone number so you can give me a call if you decide you can come
  14. I may not be the brightest out there, but I also wouldnt take it our during rifle season. Too many guys out there who dont pay attention to do that
  15. The plan is to use this for bow season actually. I can usually get with in 150 yards when im rifle hunting, so I dont really need this.
  16. I don't have the most expereince riding a horse so I wouldnt feel comfortable shooting from a horse. I may just try that if the neighbors allow me to borrow a horse. I was thinking of either leaving it in the neighbors barn or just circling down wind. Usually when they circle down wind like that, theyre typically in range.
  17. Im going to try it. I found a cardboard cut out from walmart for 40 bucks. Worst that can happen is it doesnt work and I spook some doe. I tried stalking deer on that property many times, but the open orchard doesnt let me get closer than 60 yards anyway so I might as well try it right? If it doesnt work than I stop using it, but it would be really cool if it does. Im thinking I would have to circle down wind and approach them in a diagonal way so they dont think im coming straight at them
  18. So this is going to be a bit out there, but I think it could really work. I was always told by those that ride horses that deer will not spook when they are riding the horses. I know people hunt deer off of horses and there are even saw 2 videos of a guy in WNY that shot 2 nice bucks off a horse with his bow. I do have access to horses, but I thnk ill pass on actually getting on the horse and trying to make an accurate shot. What im planning is cutting a horse outline with some cardboard and keeping that infront of me as I try to close the distance on some deer and steaking it down when im close enough for a shot (sort of like a montana decoy). What do you guys think? The property im planning on trying this on is a apple orchard and has horses so the deer are very familiar with horses.
  19. Couldnt make it out and im scrubbing tomorrow in favor of Friday. I have no problem fishing in the rain, but I kept hearing different reports on wheather or not its going to be a heavy rain. Ill deal with a little bit of wind on Friday I guess. Really wish I could have gone out today
  20. Im at a whopping 10 ducks so not many more than you haha. I don't even want to think of what my shoulder would be if I shot a 3.5 inch turkey load out of my shotgun lol. Even after getting this semi, my pump will be my dedicated turkey gun.
  21. @The_Real_TCIII Suggested I make a thread on waterfowl shotguns, so here we go. Currently im using a mossberg 535 for all my shotgun hunting, but in a couple weeks im planning on getting a Remington V3 shotgun in realtree timber camo. I really wanted to get a browning maxus hunter, but with the amount of gun you get for 600 bucks in the V3 its hard to not get it. Its going to be my first semi auto so I figured it would be better to learn on a cheaper gun than the more expensive ones. I also wanted a gas gun because theyre softer recoiling. Any semi will kick less then my light 535, but why not get the softer shooting one right? What guns do you use for waterfowl (or even just bird hunting in general)? If you want you can include what you like and dislike about your gun. Post some pictures if you have them.
