here is a read i found last year when this happened. it seems to be the only documented piece of info for this topic. http://tgaw.wordpress.com/2009/05/04/introducing-the-baby-ticks/ any WNY, you are lucky if that is the case...

honestly i always thought lime kicked in reletivly quick... If you think about it once you have either a morning dew or some rain that lime will start working its way in and start being utilized by the soil sooner then you think. I mean ican be wrong... i always checked with this, youd be suprised how accurate it really is... http://www.mossyoakbiologic.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=19 i used this alot as well, it made my plots blow pretty good. also used lime as well when i didn thave this stuff. http://www.mossyoakbiologic.com/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=54 -
honestly i thought about that alot latley... and i havnt found much "skin safe" yet... to be honest if you wear a hat or face mask you can spray that and wait the designated time as described and you can wear your face mask or hat no problem. i load it up on my shirt and hat and i have NO issues with the skeeters. i always wear pants and short sleeves but to make sure i dont get tick on my unprotected arms i constantly check myself while i walk. i will ook into it and see what i can dig up. id say if your wearing short sleeve shirt try not to touch all the debris while walking thourgh the woods. you will be fine without anything on your arms and a sprayed hat will protect your head.

just got mine in the mail today! lol and no im not a share holder but when i talk about these little critters no other hunter seems to know what i am talking about. its scares me that other may have nabbed these guys and can possibly bring them home. i did pick up a little nest when scouting the other day and i almost freaked out but i did wait a minute to see how they reacted with my spray i use and i will tell you, they died within 20 seconds or so... i was amazed. its these dry spells for some reason that really cause a muck with these little ticks. im very surprised that no one else had encounters with them but iwill tell you, where light color clothing when scouting and check yourself repeatedly while walking thrugh brush. when you pick them up, you pick them up fast and they WILL start spreding on your clothing. i have searched online and can not find anything on this! and this is 2 different parts of suffolk county i had come across this. Im just sayin be carful guys and be concous of where you walk and what you wear. im sure the wife would have your nuts if you brought these guys home with you. i know mine almost did! i really think if any of you LI guys do some scouting you will be suprised to see you have this problem in your stomping grounds. and i will say they ARE NOT chiggers it is a deer tick. baby ones... this spray seems to work magic tho, what i have noticed with these baby ticks is that i only pick them up from the 3 - 10" rnage off the ground. i have never seen this nest suspended i only see it on my clothes BUT if i were to take a guess the adult tick suspends this nest to ensure the grabbing of a propper host. i am very curious to see if anyone else has this problem.

hey i hear ya totally man... i dont think anyone was trying to insinuate anything but you gotta love threads where we can all chime in. a topic arose and its left open for discussion, again the good and the bad... i work with an older gentleman who brought this up to me last year about shooting out to 200 yards with a shot gun and i loughed at him because from what i heard it was out of the norm... when i asked him he said he shot accurate at 200 yards by holding almost dead of center with open sites. i loughed becasue if you hit accurate at 50 - 100 yards and thats where your dialed in at then natural law of physics would beg to differ with the notion of holding dead center on at 200. i looked into it last year and really was suprised at the fact that these new loads on the market are nothing like they were years ago, that would enable a hunter to shoot that distance with a shotgun. i simply stated its just NOT something i would do personally. It has nothing to do with you or your outlook on this gun of choice. maybe i jumped the gun alittle bit on how i thought you would jump to taking a shot at that distance simply becasue a gun company advertised a distance margin like that. and i dont want you to think anyone was knocking you, otherwise you would be totally off base... If i didnt know any better and if i were to take a guess tho, you are Rob? and the older gentleman i was reffering to from work would be your dad? He would fight tooth and nail on the 200 yard topic. If so im glad you made your way over to the site, there doesnt seem to be much BS being slung on this site and for the most part seems like a good group of guys on here, after you weed the few trying to dig for peoples hunting spots...

Has anyone ever see a baby tick or had a run in like i did? i know 100% that these are indeed baby ticks, i know this because ive looked under an eye loop to verify. heres the long and shot guys and im sure some of you may not even beaware of this and its scary. last year i was scouting out new land and i went in there and this was before i knew about the tick repelent i posted the other day. I went in there and was picking up a good amount of deer ticks, i wear light color clothing, tuck my pants in my socks, tuck my shirt in my pants the whole 9. Well i was walking on a trail and infact there was no brush, i take 2 steps and i look down on my leg and there that just latched on was the size of a half dollar, atleast a few hundred "BABY TICKS". i beleive there in there nymph stage and almost immediately there start spreading about. I will tell you all this my heart dropped and they were so tiny that if i was not wearing light color pants i would not have even seen them. so i literally RAN back to the truck took my clothes off and my feet were covered in baby ticks at least 50 on each foot!! Scariest thing! i had to get tested for limes and all was well there thank god. i will try to find pics to post of baby ticks but in all my years of hunting and scouting i never had this issue until last year. take a pen and tap a peace of paper and thats the size of them, they are tiny! I believe the adult tick suspends this nest containing hundreds of baby ticks in hopes to snag a host for the young. If you guys are not paying attention you can essentially become a host. my dad on the other hand did not take caution like i did and he had them all over his body... they leave little itchy welts for a few weeks. I want to know if anyone had had a problem or actually noticed this before?! any info guys lets have it! click this heres a pic! http://www.flickr.com/photos/tgaw/3500769771/#

im telling you, this stuff is a MUST in my bag. i actually went out to do some scouting and picked up a tick. i watched it make it like not 1" up my leg and he was dead on the spot. i love. skeeters dont even bother me when im wearing it and the deer dont seem to mind it. i do love this stuff. yeah cabelas has it on sale for 10.99, 2 bottles shipped was 27 bux. i chalk it up to some of the best money i spend...

yeah you would need a BDC scope...

i shoot consistent at long range shots with the bow, its what builds up my confidence... i would not feel half as bad as letting a trophy walk because i am not feeling that particular 50 yard shot then to let my arrow fly and wound that "trophy". The margin for error is greater at that distance and as a bow hunter im sure you already know that. i am also sure you have wounded a deer at closer ranges with the bow and never made the recover. Sometimes its not always about the harvest but about the time, place and people you share it with. Maybe you would take the shot and it would benefit you. But iwould have to be in that instance to make a 100% decision, has nothing to do with me not feeling confident but if we are considering a "trophy" at 50, its something i would have to weigh out. Im not all about taking low percentage shots because i know what i can do to a 3d target in an open field at 50. place a live trophy buck in front of you at 50 when its cold and you have your gear on and its entirely different...

yes this is what i was trying to convey... I have certainly heard of guys shooting 200yards, however you never hear of one who do it consistently and i certainly havnt heard of ones who have killed a deer with a shot gun at that distance... i have complete faith in the bullets i let fly and the arrows i sling and i can shoot my bow accurate 50 yards great. However i question myself in the fact not that i dont have faith i can make the shot, but should human error come in to play DO I REALLY WANT TO CHANCE this caliber buck standing at 200 yards with the shot gun or 50-60 yards with the bow?? alot of variables would come into play and not that im doubting myself i just: 1 - want to make a clean shot and properly be able to place a good shot 2 - dont want to chance hitting this animal and not making the recover. 100 yards with the bow is A LOT. lets face it.... but if you could / would you?? i wouldnt chance a 100 yard shot with the bow. maybe if i was in a open field and the buck was as calm as can be and just feeding maybe id take that 50-60 yard shot. But in the hardwoods, with a buck working his way through and i have to stop him, i will deff not even try... but i agree with you Steve, its a low percentage shot and its not one im willing to take either, i mean we all have bit a buck or 2 and questioned our shot right out of the gate and ill tell you it makes you sick knowing you will exhaust every avenue to retrieve that animal and you just wont find it. its happened to us all.

no one used this?

i dont really see anyone offending anyone here. guys start threads here and look for opinions. otherwise, DO NOT MAKE A THREAD. We are not all the same and do not carry the same ethics in the woods... when someone starts a thread its open for discussion, the good and the bad. i wouldn't take things personal and id say 99% of the jazz going on shouldn't be taken personal. everyone is entitled to there own opinions and outlooks. Its all hunting talk, that's all!

this is the 3rd thread ive seen from you regarding shooting out to 200 yards or using the Ithaca deer slayer. why such a concern to shoot out to 200 yards? concentrate on getting yourself closer to the deer if its such a concern no? ive seen a few shot guns shoot to 200 yards using different ammo. does it work for everyone? probobly not... not so much the gun but the shooter i say. gun comes into play as well dont get me wrong but i dont see all the hype to shoot the shot gun out to 200, i dont... gun season is a nice way to extend your season and or reach out a bit further but how far you wanna go? not trying to be rude in any way either... i just dont get the hype on the 200 yard capable shot gun. even if i can hit decent at 200 yards at the range, i might not trust myself to shoot at a decnt buck at that distance from a tree stand. the risk of wounding a nice buck isnt worth the chance in my eyes. i like to get close to the deer and id concentrate on that, 100yards is a good shot with the gun. 200 is a awhole nother animal... get a black powder gun if it concerns you that much.

looks like a deer in the background on the second pic from the top. my screen at work is dark so it doesnt pop out much.
