  1. ive even tried to hunt by that moon phase in the NY State mags, its all bogus... lol ive seen more deer on days the movement was supposed to be "SLOW" its so hit or miss. i really would like to shake the guys hand who publishes this stuff and i sure do hope they are getting paid for it, because it sure is funny... and im a nice guy. i like to see people get paid for there time, usless or not lol. but seriously the whole predictions / theories make me lough every time. and they do predict a end of the world in 2012, your right. the funny part is there are actually people preparing for it. thats even funnier. dont know if its funny or the smart thing. its all inevitable tho... and some things are out of our hands.
  2. believe it or not weight training is just a piece of the pie when it comes to overall fitness. your diet regiment is key, the 2 go hand and hand clearly. but if i had to choose between one or the other it would be diet. anyone who eats and drinks what they want and goes to the gym is doing nothing for themselves. they may be happy doing so however its not. i am a big gym head, i love it... i can go on and on. but anyone who says the scale doesnt matter is crazy... a guy 5.7 should not be 220.... ever... its not normal. i understand the whole weighing more then you should at a certain height may not bothger some, but me being 5.6 when i get to a certain weight i start to go into a diffeent mode and get myself out of that rut. its one thing being over weight and LEAN and another to just be simply over weight and on top of that ...un happy.... and on another note, ive seen plenty of people lift there ass off and you know what they still look horrible. becasue chances are they go to the gym and eat like CRAP. i see heavy set guys in the gym racking every machine and going with the heaviest weight all day. what is that proving? nothing... what is it doing? going to make you bulk up more when is reality that individual should be going with a comfortable weight, slow and controlled and possibly repping it out. i see it all the time. guys thinkg by lifting more and heavy weight they will reach the results they have in there head and in reality they WONT...
  3. i believe these guys are taking shots like that in order to produce on "CAMERA". its quite hard to make sure everything goes good to lay down a kill on camera, especially on a big one. i think this is why you see these types of shots often is because you look at these guys and your not watching there show to see them talk for 30 minutes, you want to see action and see them lay down some kills... i dont think people realize the pressure it can cause to one when trying to produce on film for a show. do i think its right to be taking shots like that? prob not... but who am i to judge.... think about how hard it is for some of us to produce---- off camera----- now try to do it on camera for viewers, im sure its not an easy task. and i do know there are plenty of out fitters with access to good deer! but im sure it doesnt make it all that much easier for camera guys to get the angles and shots and what not. but i have seen what you guys are talking about with these shots but its all about producing at the end of the day...
  4. i would say there are more variables then some of you listed that would push back or put forward those days for pre rut / rut. theres tomany variables to looks at and it seems to be black magic... i spend as much seat time in my stands to make those type of predictions because to be quite frank, they can be different from zone to zone, county to county. to many variables. spend some time in your stands and make your own assumptions. i would not plan hunts around what others say and any moon phase / dates. Its crap... you dont know what can happen and when the rut will pop off! spend the time in the woods and hope you are in the right spot at the right time. thats how i play. i cant plan hunts around "THEORIES" im not insinuating anyone does this, i dont care... i just think going by theories and predictions is silly. sometimes things are better when experienced FIRST HAND.
  5. since i bought the house and got engaged i put on a few extra lbs... stress i guess lol... but this year things have kind of settled down a bit and i was able to get in good shape again and drop 20lbs. now im not over weight by far, i just got out of shape. i leaned back out a bit. i was only going to the gym about on average 2-3 days a week and alls i was doing was watching what i ate. i cut alot of my carbs out, although you do need carbs for energy, i tried to clean my meals up a bit and really be conscious to portion sizes. i think wgere alot of people go wrong and age doesnt have as much impact as you think aside from as you get older it gets harder to loose the way and thats only because you are to many years and too far in with the good meals you eat. but i am a firm believer that "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT" and if you eat like crap, you will feel like it... i know most guys eat big size portions and drink alot of soda / beer... • cut soda out of your diet • save the beers for the weekends or gatherings • drink more water • cut down on portion size and strink your stoumach back up, it will shrink back up after a few weeks trust me. you will feel fuller sooner. • No salts and sugars (or limit them) really its not hard to cut down on weight, you just have to change some things in your diet that most of us have been doing for quite sometime. not saying strict diet but clean it up and cut some things out and you will be very surprised... im only 5.6 and to loose 20 lbs for me is not easy vs a guy who is 5.7 or 5.8 and 220lbs. trust me... i used to be 185 lean, but that was to big for me.. im now about 160 and i feel great.
  6. with pre season scouting, trail cams, hanging sets, cutting shooting lanes and evryday normal life things. id like to just buy it and not worry about that... As if there is not enough things for me to do during hunting season. and in all honesty, i am a scent control freak! i buy a gallon of scent blocker every year and at the end of the season i have a 1/4 bottle left, its not really worth it to me to have BULK... and its not like storing it for next season will do you any good. scent control is good year to year, i wouldnt trust using it the following season... just my 2 cents
  7. just got my super sportsman today! i got my DMP for 8w again this year, so thats cool. im ready to rock!
  8. nice buck. i use image-shack t upload and re size pics for forum use...
  9. lasy year i bought alittle over 3 tons. i have half ton left from that season... average is 250 - 300 per ton, depending which type you get. i like the hardwood pellets... i have a 2000sq ft home, 3 levels and i have it on the middle floor in the living room. it heats the whole house except the bottom level but i put the base board heat on a little down there, it comes on and all the heats stays down there due to the upper levels being alot warmer. so the base board heat doesn't kick on as much... going to grab another 2 tons for this season and i should be good.... prob cost me between 500 - 600 bux
  10. i have baseboard heating in my house. but last year i bought a pellot stove and ill tell you, best investment! my house is so warm you can walk around in your skibbies lol. i usually leave it at around 73 but on cold nights or just when were in the mood to be really warm i can blast it up. i can get it so hot in there you need to open windows lol
  11. i dont get why one would go thought the trouble of making there own and spending the almost the same amount of money to make it when there is literally 100 different types on the market and all price ranges to suit all financial needs... i dont get it???
  12. you can also use gum o fluage. thats works too. the peroxide thing is funny, seems like it would work
  13. pretty cool rack. i like the pic as well... you can see his winter coat coming in
  14. Donating some deer was something i wanted to participate in doing this year. I usually take a few does each year and give some to my buddies for smoking and jerkey.
  15. i shoot the rage 2 blades on my switchback xt at 72lbs. the setup i have is great! those BH are awesome...
  16. that thing looks great! good job. i want one lol
  17. carbon fiber with some flames? cool, i likes
  18. i usually stand when i see a deer coming in and committing to coming my way... I stand and push the seat up behind me in one fluid motion and lean back on the tree. i use a swivel bow holder above me in all my stands as well so i dont have to hold the bow until im almost ready to pull back... So, i stand right b4 the shot...
