  1. I wore Rocky side zip boots for many years prior to retiring from the Fire Dept. I found the ankle support to be very good , never had a zipper issue and mine came on and off several times a day . As for hunting idk but my experience with three pairs and many years , would lead me to believe they’d be ok for stand hunting , not sure I’d use them climbing up and down mountains though .
  2. I’m definitely not shooting a doe now , my buddy got it done on the last morning out West , 6x6 Elk . He eats like one deer a year, so I said I’ll take all he doesn’t want , I’ll pay my share for processing and shipping .
  3. Ya know I cant answer that . But when I started they were , “ party permits “ you needed 3 or so hunters to apply for one doe tag that the “ party “ got .
  4. But I probably won’t win awards for my stuff or have lines out the door for months . My buddy’s now on a guided Elk hunt , , if he gets 200 pounds of meat the cost per pound will be $70 or so , Hunt , tips ,lic. Airfare , meat processing, shipping , taxidermy .
  5. Irish Spring is also my shampoo....
  6. Thursday and Friday look good right now . Anything further out will change .
  7. I’m left eye dominant, right handed . I’ve been killing deer with a right hand bow since ‘89 . The choice trying to learn to shoot left handed or just closing the left eye was not something I spent more then two seconds thinking about .
  8. Since so many cant find ammo , perhaps we can keep this going . Post where and when you found ammo ,and what they had . Sunday oct 18 , 2pm Dicks Webster ( yes the enemy but they have ammo you might need ) . 7mm08 140 gr the rest I forget the weight 270 25.06 7mm 450 Bushmaster a few more but I wasn’t thinking of doing this at the time
  9. Nope . AM hunt to save time I shower just before bed , Pm Hunt often will shower before going . One thing I noticed since showering at night , was my socks stay drier , it appears I never quite dry the feet off all the way and dressing soon after caused my socks to absorb the water . I also don’t use special soaps , sprays, clothes .
  10. Mlammethirt , I’m in 100% agreement with . For ME once the bachelor groups break up , the crops get cut, the fields turned over or covered in manure, in mid Oct , the brakes come on . I’ll be out very little till the end of the month , a few of my fiends haven’t even gone yet .
  11. Friend , I cant disagree much .
  12. I think that’s what sometimes happens , guys order a lot , then their wife sees the bill ,or they spend the money they set aside and never go back .
  13. I started going to Tony IDk 25 years ago ? He was working out of his garage off Bay rd , been every year since . He was venison products only at that time ,now the newer retail shop is so popular with the masses , that the shop takes orders for those folks to stock up before closing and switching over to venison , it takes time to fill those ,hence the Nov 1 st opening for venison. He’s so popular there’s often a 6 page or so list of guys wanting to buy any venison products that aren’t picked up . Surprisingly some drop off meat, order but never come back to get it or pay .
  14. Perhaps sometime next year depending on a number of political and social occurrences. Keep in mind production runs are scheduled up to two years out , and some of the less selling and odd ball stuff is only made once every 2-3 years as it is .
  15. This ! Being over weight is a major risk factor for covid , yet how many of the ones who take covid seriously have lost weight , you know to protect themselves ? 7 months into 2 weeks to flatten the curve , nobody should be fat anymore they had 7 months .
  16. Home eating breakfast sandwiches now . One lone buck at first light today, one lone buck at last light yesterday that’s been it lately . I don’t care for afternoon sits this time of year, it’s always right at last light. Thinking back , any bow buck on an afternoon hunt over the last few years has been in the rut with 1 or 2 hours of light left .
  17. Been SLOW lately , same as every year here this time . Going to get down soon and trim around two stands. Maybe hunt 1 or 2 times a week till the rut picks up .. Joes Elk hunt in Utah starts today , so hopefully In a week my freezer will be full of Elk meat .
  18. Saw a decent buck feeding In hay Field about 125 yards out , I was able to slip along woods another 20 yards to my oath . Turkeys flying down making all kinds of noise now .
  19. Parked in a cut bean field drinking my coffee, Johnny Cash , cocaine blues playing . 30 out
  20. That’s my opening negotiation , make a counter . She’s a super type A, hyper competitive person . Her college BF of 4 years was a full ride D1 athlete, who went to law school on a academic scholarship, and she lead him around like a puppy on a leash .
  21. Nothing is really off the table , pre nuptial would require the Jerky recipe and preclude any hunting access for 20 years .
  22. Two . This is the CPA , the RN and her fiancé head to Colorado tomorrow......
