Agree, Oct 28, there has been a scape opened up at the same spot ,every year for years on end . Not sure if I have much of anything figured out , or just hunt a lot those days ,so I have luck those days .
  2. This always come down to summit or lone wolf . I used LW . Now all ladders and one hang on a , LW . I traded my LW climber for some plumbing work, my LW hang on and sticks can get me up in under 10 minutes if I needed to be mobile ,which I generally don’t . The LW climber was so simple ,light ,slim and dead quiet .

Give me the single digits of Nov . if I could only Hunt 4 days it would be , Nov 4,5,6,7 based on 30 some years of hunting MY spot . Nov 4th is my wedding anniversary, Ive killed a few nice bucks on that day ,many more plus/minus a day . Take the wife out for dinner after the holidays.
  4. I’ve shot a pile, of doe over the years at all times . Lately I don’t take any unless I haven’t shot a buck and the season is ending . It’s just the Mrs and I and one good sized buck is fine . Now that I’ve started canning , and stocking up the pantry , I plan to take a doe right off the bat in bow to can , than a buck for the freezer.
  5. Thanks, he works two jobs, pretty much year round . Gets out at 3:30 from one then runs his construction company till 10 pm , plus weekends often . Summers he really ramps,it up ,runs a day crew ,then his normal night crew .
  6. All I got ,his house is pretty cool as well .
  7. Ha, you’re wearing a Cardinals T shirt ......
  8. He sure has a large body for July ! I think the tall rack in the picture above that one has a better / cooler tall rack , who even knows what I’ll see in a couple months
  9. That camera was out maybe ten days , three or four days of them produced all the pics, I only posted a few . Zero night pics there . I did move that one today , it was on a stick that I had to, pile rocks around as the ground was to hard lol. Today I brought a fence post and put it a couple hundred yards West , to the corner of the field where there’s a gap between fields for farm equipment , there’s a dirt spot there ,so hopefully I won’t get 1,000 pics of beans blowing in the wind . It’s also a natural spot for them to move through .
  10. I’m not good at all at judging age , but I can say one of four of those , the two tall ones, last years 11, and that one wide one have blown out they’re last birthday candles ,if I have a say .
  11. It looks to me the stairs go into theater room, the room with the large window, would be the bedroom . Code requires an escape window or door from any finished basement , bedroom would be the logical choice for one .

Well what are the odds there’s two liberals in NYS who hunt ? Welcome back .
  13. Nice job ! Even put in an escape window .
  14. Nice assortment ! The one in the black circle was the 11pt I passed up last year , 60 yards standing still, had my rifles crosshairs on him, but he was just across the property line and that lady owner is a bit “ touchy .” Two have tall racks ,I dig the one that’s kinda different , and look at the body size on that one in July , guess it’s going to be another hard drag this year ...
  15. You’ll see them buy this truck . It’s already in my nephews shop here, as he bought it off one of the pickers brother who he knows . My nephew is currently on his way to Iowa to pick up a dump truck he also bought, and hit the Iowa gas and oil show. He’s a collector of old gas signs and stuff ,his shop is covered with them .
  16. Miserable old codger here ! Never was much of a sports fan outside of the St. Louis Cardinals, which , most here know I go to see play in a couple cites each year . I haven’t watched a game this year . As far as the NFL could care less, my nephew lived nextdoor to a quarterback , who gave him a players pass, I could have gone and tailgated with the players families and sat with them inside . Wasn’t worth the effort to me . His buddy is business partners with Jerry Jones, here’s my Nephews kid down on the field with some Cowboy with six rings , I could go there and hang too , not much interest before , zero now .
  17. Real estate agents in Southern states are flooded with calls and visits from NY/NJ area , locals are being priced out of the market . Countless friends and relatives have left, had dinner with a couple tonight who just bought a 250k condo in FLA , property taxes are $1,700 a year and no state income tax . We have a few friends and relatives here now from Southern state’s Zero are quarantined, everyone drives up so they have their car for the summer stay .
  18. pit blind is intriguing, but I’m far to lazy for that , I don’t even want to lug the plastic deer out there ! I do next to no “ work “ on the land , don’t even scout . My kill shots now are all under 20 yards ,and 10 is normal for me , up close is the only way I bow hunt . I may try to set up in the hedgerow where they enter the field ,have a broadside shot as they cross it . Give that one or two try’s, then just hop in my normal stands .
  19. Thanks for the advise and thoughts ,guys . It’s generally far to thick at the edge or just inside for any kind of shot . The transition area crops to thicket may provide a shot opportunity. I don’t go inside the thicket if I can help it, especially from that side as the wind is generally blowing in to it . They walk that yellow line as its a drainage ,and is perhaps a foot to a foot and a half lower then the ground around it . Ive hunted there well over 30 years , once the beans are cut they still, pick through the field for beans but no longer do the big bucks cross it . When it’s corn well you can’t see ‘. Em NYbuckboy, that’s an interesting idea . My style is I just hunt, no special soaps or detergents, scentblocker clothes , I shower at night with Irish Spring to save time in the morning lol , don’t use scents . I do carry a grunt tube and a few times a rattle bag .

    That’s a lot of $$$ right there ! I’ve scaled back a 30 pack of Genny $15 ,same results .
  21. Meanwhile hockey a true mans sport ,second only to bull riding ,they stand for the National Anthem.
  22. They were actually quite tasty .
  23. Well I already got my Presto , from Rural King . That one is nice, but we’ve got a glass top stove, and that one doesn’t ship till November , and by then who knows how back ordered they’ll be . Each news story about the bad economy ,drives more to see the value of being prepared now .
  24. Thanks guys . We plan on some weekday camping at state parks, like May ,early June , then Sept, into Oct . Avoid the crowds and heat that way . Out West ,well when our old dog passes and frees us up . Liver and kidney numbers are off, deaf, going blind , hips not good ,on a slippery surface his rear legs slide out to the sides, he flops over to the side to lay down . Being a beagle I don’t think the other campers will enjoy his barking the whole time we leave the site , and he just done travel well in general . Now I got to figure out buying mirrors, hoses, all the odds and ends you forget about . I grew up camping, it’s slowly coming back to me on what we’ll need .
  25. Well that was easy, five minutes on the phone with my CC company to dispute the charge and I got a full chargeback . So that’s the correct path UPS, and PayPal not so much, although some have had luck with PP.
