Antifa Tries to Bully Old Man
Nomad replied to airedale's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
That was great ! We had a ton of homeless guys we dealt with all the time ,I always treated them with the same respect I’d deal with anyone, perhaps more as I always cut them a break. One of the guys was a golden gloves boxer back,in the day , I always stayed more then an arms reach away from him lol. -
I met her back in her prime . Since I’m now 61 I’d be ok with either ....

HS has landowner info , I forget how it works lol . The farm I hunt is the, largest owner in the area , and we own 120 acres as well ,which is tiny compared to the farms around us . I know all the neighboring owners ,so that feature is not a priority for me , but I can certainly see how it would be for others .
-
I use HS. I’ve hunted the same spot for 30 some years , so I don’t much need to many of the features . I like to mark then number the stands so the Mrs and farmer can find me . Measuring yardage is nice , this one shows that I’m over 500 feet from my hut to their house , also nice for knowing distance in fields , as I’ve never owned a range finder .

I’ve killed many from hedgerows, and field edges where the shot is a few yards .What I did was take those old 4 inch thick white targets ,cut an oval out of a brown paper bag ,pin it on to represent the lungs . The target was mounted in a frame that was straight up and down . Once you shoot the brown target ,and the arrow sticks out the other side you can clearly see how much lower the exit hole is . 5 yards I really have to hit high , to get the offside lung on the way out . Once they are at 10 yards it’s much better , but I’m only up 15 feet, if I was up to say 25 those close shots would be far more dicey . Im almost getting excited for the season now .

On a related note . I went up to the town hall to buy my lic. yesterday , sign on door not selling hunting / fishing lic. for some odd reason . So off to a nearby store that sells them, nope , their printer hasn’t worked for two weeks and the DEC, hasn’t come to fix it . On my third stop I got it .

I was out riding my horse when I came upon an old bottle, which a genie came out of and granted me 3 wishes . My first wish, was for my saddlebags to be full of gold, bam, they were full. My second wish was to be tall and, lean, bam I was tall and lean. For my third wish, I asked to be hung like my horse .Damn I forgot I was riding Lu lu Bell !

Any ever do a DIY colorado elk hunt?
Nomad replied to Gencountyzeek's topic in Out of New York Hunting
Two,guys from work went to,Colorado with their bows and each scored , I don’t know the particulars ,they’ve asked me to,join them next time , im not much interested. Friend in Montana, kills Elk ,regularly with his bow on public ground . So it sure seems doable with proper research I’d guess . -
Genny Orange Honey Cream Ale at the source ,came home with a growler of that and one of Mosaic Cream Ale . Would have preferred to come home with the woman in white to the right in the picture, she was smoking hot !

Friends left the state today for Tennessee. I got the beer from their refrigerator, sadly all chocolate stuff .

I shoot right trough the season , mostly one or two arrows each hunt from the stand , then if a morning hunt, I’ll shoot a judo point over and over on walk out I’ll fling a few at home once in while too . I dont get the stopping Oct 1st either .
-
Always shoot off my roof ,each year . I also practice from the ground with my feet close together ,like they are on a stand , while leaning against a tree . I also shoot at least one field point from my stand each sit . That one arrow is worth more then a dozen shot in my yard .

Happy birthday doebuck1234 and blackbeltbill
Nomad replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Twins ! -
Now a days , once every 7-10 days staring late August, maybe 12 arrows each time . Seldom past 25 yards . My average buck kill is perhaps 12-14 yards . I have two friends who I occasionally hunt with at their places ,and they haven’t shot one arrow yet .

Anyone use the jet sled?
Nomad replied to cdbing's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
May try one . Carts suck, can’t fit a decent sized deer on one , balance point sucks ,unless you like dragging it hunched over ,the wheels blow , bog down in soft ground , forget about plowed ground , and it’s a struggle pulling it over logs . The only good thing is the walk to get its , a nice break from dragging ,then its a struggle all over again . A Christmas tree cart with pneumatic tires may be the ticket . A rope , time and stubbornness has worked for me for 40 some years ,although the time required has increased a bit . -
Kellogg’s had a marketing campaign to, sell their new breakfast cereal , which started the whole “ breakfast is the most important meal “ thing .

Posting just the first sentence would have been been a nice step in achieving your goal , and would, got responses , from guys cooking out or hanging stands and so on , the rest just derailed it . Surprise ! most of us have those friends already , my retirement party was attended by ,black ,white ,Hispanic, Jamaican , male, female ,lesbian , righty ,lefties , guys who, live in the hood , and on hill tops , even a freaking Vegan ! Hugged ‘em all . The fact that you don’t think others interact , is in itself telling .

You call that a knife.....
Nomad replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I like everything about this knife , from the file work on the spine to the linen micrata handle with the red underneath, the large lanyard hole ,the small ricasso as well , as I like as much edge as possible . The sharpening Choil I can take it or leave it . Great knife !
