  1. Have built stands and ladder stands of course in the proven spots but I like to bounce around. Probably 16 stands on 400 acres. Some of our buddies don't climb so they sit those.
  2. Thiink we have all had those encounters. Had an 8 point walk in front of me 3 different times on my way out of the woods at 1 p.m Thursday. First time at 70 yards. Closed to 40. Drew on him with my climber on my back and he never came to the opening. Tried closing on him again and saw his flag. It's heartbreaking but it keeps you coming back for more.
  3. Just had a buddy text me saying big buck down. I'm stuck at work today. Enjoy the gorgeous morning fella's. good luck, I have a feeling some bucks are going to be killed today.
  4. Good example JJB. I would say "oh yea, I go 60 mph most of the time." And you could say, "oh so you would drink and drive eh?!". Not at all. I wouldn't feel ethically right to drink and drive but I surely don't give a damn about going 5 mph over the speed limit.
  5. Haha no not at all. Just not when it's blatantly dark and just moonlight. I wait for sunlight at least. Like I said before, I never look at the sun rise and sun set times. So if it's overcast I use my better judgment and make a shot on a deer when I am capable of doing so.
  6. Well that's what I'm trying to say. You say you ethically couldn't shoot him. I agree. I wouldn't take a deer under moonlight even if it was a monster. I think there is a difference between shooting a deer under moonlight and shooting one at the end of your 4 hour hunt, 2 minutes after the sun sinks over the horizon. I would not feel ethically bad about that. JMO.
  7. Who knows, maybe after the sun drops over the horizon at my place, your app may say I still have a coupled minutes left and I'm still legal! Wouldn't that be something!!
  8. It would probably only be a couple minutes. As long as it is pretty damn light out still. I wouldn't silhouette shoot a deer. I honestly never look up the time the sun sets. I just watch it drop over the horizon. Once that happens it's still pretty damn light out for a few minutes.
  9. And I would never hunt over bait. I get what you are saying, illegal is illegal. But in my opinion I think that shooting a couple minutes after sundown, when it is still light out, doesn't compare with shooting over a bait pile in terms of how I would feel ethically. Same goes with spotlighting and shooting, trespassing and all the other crazy things you can think of.
  10. No I definitely wouldn't shoot it after dark. That's just stupid. But if I had plenty of light in my field stand. It'd be hard not to. That deer you saw an hour before and after just pulling in? I would have a problem with. But actually hunting in a stand and its a couple minutes past, let her rip. JMO.
  11. Nah I wouldn't trespass. I would just shoot a slammer two minutes after "sunset".
  12. Sorry to say, but if a stud buck showed up two minutes after the sun went down and its still damn near broad daylight out, I'm sticking him every single time. If someone told me that they had the buck of a lifetime show up at 517 and their little app on their phone said sunset was 515 so they didn't shoot, I would slap them in the side of the head.
  13. I usually sit until I can't see anymore to answer the question you asked. But yea, not supposed to shoot them after sundown.
  14. Hey I get you were excited and said you drilled him. I would say that too! Just sucks that you drilled him in the guts LOL!!! Have faith, you will find him.
  15. That is a slob of an 8 point! hopefully all works out well! Pray to the buck gods tonight
  16. It's pouring out and thundering like a sumbitch right now.
  17. Put a PSE in her hand and I think you nailed it.
  18. I see your point from the business end of things. Hell if I could do it I would. But I still think people that hang a deer on the wall that came from a deer farm are some cheating, sorry excuses of hunters, that would rather take the easy road and buy a rack instead of putting in the time and effort. But to each their own. Wouldn't catch me doing it.
  19. Hit a limb you didn't see? I don't foresee anything else deflecting an arrow that bad. Not even a mechanical broadhead malfunction.
  20. Had a group of buddies covering multiple stands across the land. Pulled into the dirt drive and we were all getting ready to head out. I had to put my jacket on and spray cover scent so I set my bow down "out of the way." Spraying down and my buddy lifted his foot real quick saying what the hell?... Yep, that was my bow. Picked it up and had to turn the bow a full 90 degrees to look at my pins. Sooo pissed.
