A seriously sissified shooting story
Renegade Hunter replied to philoshop's topic in General Chit Chat
That's good! -
My grandfather says he wants to be flown into the mountains and dropped naked so the wolves and scavengers can eat him. He's pretty serious about it.
-
Says he called 911 before the shooting and swore allegiance to ISIS. Go figure.

I hope all are following what is happening in Orlando.. It boils my blood to see such things take place on American soil. I hope all realize the significance and reality of what is taking place in the United States. I urge all to stay vigilant and if possible, armed. This isn't a post to get everyone riled up, but everyone should come to the realization that this could take place literally anywhere. These people are amongst us. I'm sick of seeing Americans die at the hands of these scum bags. This will all quiet down in a couple weeks and everyone will go back to their normal lives until the next attack. It may not happen in your neck of the woods, but if it does, you need to be prepared. God Bless America.

shooting.....one eye open or both ?
Renegade Hunter replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
I shoot a pistol with both eyes open.. a rifle with one eye open. I like to be focused on not having scope shadow and my overall sight picture while shooting a rifle and I can't do it as well with both eyes open. -
Wannabe isn't going to be a wnnabe this year! I need to get my cams out, had a few nice ones last year that should be pretty decent this year.

They have about 20 posts already.

I'm in!

They are hammering this site right now. Jeez.

That is neat. How would they come up with the wire coil? I'm no historian.

Bucks in staten island getting vasectomy
Renegade Hunter replied to kpkot's topic in General Chit Chat
I'll tell you what they can do with all them bucks, load them on a trailer and bring them right up here to Chenango county. We would be glad to have them! -
Man, you just got me fired up! Let's go deer season! Woooo!
-
Imagine seeing that thing looking at you in the woods! It looks like a big 'ol Chewbacca head!
-
That is pretty cool! Sorry you had to lose your ducks in the process..

I think I'm honestly a little nervous to use a xbow. I absolutely love to bow hunt. More than I enjoy gun hunting. I think if I use a crossbow and my efficiency goes up, I will be pushed to use that just because it is more efficient. Like if you are going into an area after a certain buck, you are going to bring the most efficient tool for the job right? I just don't want to come to the point where I no longer feel the urge and passion for the compound.. Its a battle within..
-
I don't understand the point of your topic. You are saying respect others opinions, yet you are giving nothing but reasons not to use a xbow. I'll respect your opinion on using a more traditional bow, go use it. I'll respect those who use xbow, go use it. I honestly don't think the difference between a xbow and compound are too extreme. Especially the compounds that are out there nowadays over 350 fps. Only difference is it can be a point and shoot weapon. Probably a little more accurate for most people. The effective range is definitely more comparable with a compound bow than a rifle, so not sure why you would say it should be called a cross gun. It fires an arrow from a string. I love to bowhunt and will continue to use a compound in most cases, however I would like to try a xbow and see how I like it. It's all personal preference. And once again, I respect your opinion.

I knoowwwwww haha. Haters gonna hate, and I'm hating on this thread. Carry on!

My God, I thought this thread was finally gone...

Looks like I need to start putting some trail cams out! Some of these deer look awful thin.
-
Awesome photos as always, wooly. I stumbled across one while trout fishing a few years back. Down in a hollow next to a creek. It's amazing how they lay there so still, even though you are mere feet away from them. Love your pictures man, huge fan

Now I'm thinking fox again. Ears are forward and the tongue is kind of hanging out.
-
My first reaction was fox. Looked at it a little longer and thought pig. Hind quarter looks pig-ish.

This isn't my first buck but it is my first wall mounter and biggest yet. I posted a thread in the fall about keeping him natural or fixing him. I kept him natural and wouldn't have it any other way! I often find myself just looking at him reliving that morning. Has me itching to get out there, trying to get him some company on the wall.

No hunting fatalities in 2015 season, DEC announces
Renegade Hunter replied to Galliform's topic in General Hunting
I did have some near misses that were close to me. My uncle fell out of a tree while climbing into the stand and broke his back. Had to crawl to the road. Luckily my grandma was driving by and saw him. He's up and moving around pretty well now. Also heard about a guy from my town getting shot with a 30-06 through his hip. Thankfully they both made it out with their lives.
