So I'm back in ...It's cold wet and quiet out there we had rain on and off all night...I pushed something bedded under the hemp stand on the way in and got to the apple stand with the new scrape that opened up the other day... settled in and started hearing movement all around me...At light I saw the triplets under the stand I was in last night and they moved around to feed in front of me and inside the garden all morning . In the mean time I did some grunts and estrus bleats to go with scent I put out...I heard steps and cracks behind me to see 8 deer milling around on the property line ...The stand set was perfect for this wind if,,,,,only they stayed with the script!...I've watched for two weeks them coming in to my north/East under that apple tree..that or directly across the clover plot and feeding this way...Doesn't the lead doe start down the incline walking from left to right of me ,right down wind. Then well of course it starts to gust right at that particular moment...All movement sounds stop...I cant stand and turn for I have fawns 5yrds in front of me.... her now 20yrds away, but her clan up higher and eye level with me ...No stomp or snort, just a huff and she slowly turned and walked back up to the property line...then they all hung out directly down wind of me browsing clover in the neighbors lane way for over a half hour.....waited as long as I could but had to come in for a bit...my stomach was growling so loud that one of the fawns snapped it's head ears rotating and looked straight at me.....Gosh I had a bagel before coming out...Coffee, warm up a little(forgot seat pad),dang frozen butt syndrome set in these winds are killing me this year...I'm really getting discouraged...just do what they say your going to do...better yet STOP , just let it be calm for a few days...

So glad...I'll be more tired...but won't have to listen to Mr B about dinner being late any more...that's worth having to get up at 3:30

That stand in the picture,I sat tonight...went out at 3 to find 3 deer directly under it...I duct into path that comes in behind it, along the fence line with a doe estrus drag...I get 5 yards from deer and they spooked just a little going bit less than 20 yrds past stand..Long and short of it..I made it up ladder and set up with them glancing my way every so often..They fed out there another 30 mins. Never knowing I was there, just to come back at close , close to the same spot to get spooked. Not by me but outr blk. cat that followed me over earlier. BTW 3 fawns..a doe started to come out but the sound of a stereo at the road and slowing cars sent her back up into the woods.

I have a hang on in a double trunk and it leans a bit over the plot..I have taken several deer from this stand and the deer don't seem to notice it or me..though the swirling wind sometimes busts me but not often ...I have a cover of wht pines that I keep at 10 ft high behind me because they do look up when coming up from the ledge below. I wasn't hunting there because I could not legally shoot him last year on that date.

Just stepped through the door...went and got cards before even going down the drive...tire and oil change done...grabbing a bit of protein ,showering and headed out... Zero on cards except...yesterdays mail truck...lol and one 6 point at 11:30 ..when tires and oil were being done...I got my ML tag...when that go to 15.00? I swear last one I got was 10.00 two years ago...anyways checking wind and Hey a 3ft diameter scrap right under the yellow apple tree that's dropping apples, first ever...I have a stand 12 yards from it and with great wind in nearly all directions but directly behind me...Good luck guys...

Still early Steve ...they'll be in that area once the rain stops and hopefully the wind will be good for you and they aren't scanning the area from the cedars so you can sneak in.

So Mr B said he checked the couch...well we keep a cover on the couch because Angel likes to sneak up on it at night or when we are gone..she sheds a whole dog every day I swear to it!...She is also very particular about her snacks...She doesn't like when we run out and she is given the boys Milk bones...I find them tucked away everyplace...and it's a hoot when our daughter visits with her chocolate lab mix...She spends an hour on search and recovery..Anyways I checked the couch..I took everything off then stepped down on springs and reached into couch. Really!! It has a cover and several pillows on it.....I found another after this picture!...lol looks like I need to vacuum couch more than once a week.

No Grampy...this is crazier than that..I lost it...talked about it here and immediately found it. I then messaged DIL that I was sorry about her new puppy dying Sunday night. I sat at the computer and told you guys I found the phone...looked at it and thought it needs charging then........I haven't seen it since..I mean we went through the garbage!I have looked in every drawer in the house 4x's and Mr B 2x's...maybe this post will cause it to turn up...for it is off now

Ding,ding,ding,ding,ding...give the weather guys a prize! It looks like they got it right this time. We shall see this afternoon...rains suppose to stop here at 2. I won't cut my hair untill I get a deer. I have a green turtle neck with a shamrock embroidered on the neck...it gets washed a lot during season. I talk to "God" explain the time and effort I put forth and ask just for a chance at a good kill shot. As time goes by,the deer in that scenario keep getting smaller. They go from big doe and descent 8pt. To young doe and small 8....

You know I've never used that thought when setting up...It's always been best position on tree and Sun/wind direction for timing of sits. ie....I don't want the sun in my eyes for the shot or the sun lighting me up when they are approaching. Then in hills ,it's great to have the sun in their eyes as they approach. Wind ,well they tend not to do as I want and come in random directions so I preferred to not be uncomfortable and sit with the winters winds are freezing my face off. .I stand to shoot so awkwardness doesn't usually play in my decision.

Doc, I've mentioned the deer rotation on our place often over the years ours is usually 3 days. Now that's not saying all the group's or bucks do this. Some are natural residence and are home bodies making their daily activity a bit more random. They just pick about the property here and there. The "traveler" seem to stick with a fairly good schedule on where they want to be. Even during the rut New traveling buck seem to rotate the hill regularly ,until breeding gets in full swing and they are locking down doe. I switch stands often at first to try and get some patterns down and not mess up others. If I know it's around a week between visits...I'd be checking out other stands in the middle of that time frame.

I can laugh now, but I nearly flooded the bath room. I never even thought about all the stuff I was stiring up in the woods. Then there was that bit of blow back when I caught a wrong angle or rock/ log. I assumed it was just dirt,nothing living. Just gross especially being a bug aphobe.

This is perfect timing...Guys after leaf blowing..go to laundry room strip and put everything in the washer. Then go either soak or shower in hot water...soap up your ears and neck first then lather your hair before washing all over...scrub those tight areas... I took a very hot soak in the tub after leAf blowing....OMG! It is the itchy scratchy show hear for I literally had bugs crawling all over me and trying to escape the steaming water. 6 things that looked like deer lice... blackspots floating all over, a few winged things ..In about flipped..Nearly par boiled my self and now I itch everywhere!

Papist..what an amazing recovery and GREAT deer...I honestly can't understand the trouble he gave you,that looked like a really solid shot! So happy it ended well though you got no meat...there are plenty of doe and you now have a really good excuse to go get one..Congrats sir,and thank you for giving it your all.

68.5 here and no wind ...too warm but tomorrow afternoon is going to be perfect! Dropping temps and pressure, rain ending around 2pm ..tomorrow and Friday guys ...your going to see some deer on the boards
