  1. My 20ga...I just asked Mr.B about it and if he remembered the exit...lol ...he won't even talk about it...I remember it blew out through the neck.
  2. Been trying to tell you ppl for years...it happens in these parts all of the time. One reason I started bow hunting...I'll go out on a limb and say, it's more than a little likely it's why many in these parts bow hunt.... So now just wonder why they prefer not having the "Johnny come lately' s" from coming into bow with cross bows. Not saying that's my opinion it's just something to think about.
  3. I tried biting my tongue...Pretty damn accurate thank you very much..I posted just a very few pics of just how accurate on here the other day and more than a couple out to 120 yards with just my little orange bead for a sight. With a 20 ga to boot! If you are wondering...the only deer I have lost with my shot gun were...a 6pt that went over on posted land Jumped a fence at camp, Guys found it 1 week later recovering another deer......an 8 that was literally stolen by one neighbor when I went to get recovery permission for another... and one 8 that As Dad and I tracked in the snow ran into a group of hunters on the property we had recovery rights to saying they saw nothing in the direction we were tracking...and the deer magically disappeared in a creek bed...we found foot prints and a blood drag down stream.
  4. I can be honest I have successfully taken a Texas heart shot... When the kids were just babies I got the flu on Friday and by Monday I had been sleeping on the bathroom floor. For obvious reasons. I was home alone and needed to drive from Avon to Alfred for the opener...Still sick but refusing to give in. I literally crawled to the shower ,dressed and half crawled to the truck for the drive to camp...Got there right as the guys were heading out and I made it down the hill to my stand telling Dad I was shooting the first thing that crossed my path...and I did 40 yards saw the hit ..but it ran and I panicked. OMG! it can't go down the hill! I pumped another round in and all I had was its butt to shoot at. I knew I had a kill shot on it but a "dead" deer in Alfred can run a long long ways... Bam!...It looked sorta like an accordion at the hit. I knew where it was...so got out of stand and doubled over went to camp sweating bullets...the walk up about killed me...Dad was there and came down...Oh boy.... we went down and he radioed Mr B. you better get down here...she made a mess and can barely stand and I'm not gutting it... Holy Hanna....... it looked like some one had inserted a brush cutter , then turned it on...So Mr B didn't talk to me for 2 whole days...first and only time I saw him a tad green around the gills... Yep never again.
  5. Oh I see it now..blended into his clothes...nice buck Biz ...that is neat.....unuasual to me,like drop tines
  6. lol...I was wondering who'd catch that after I read it out loud to myself BTW...Right now I'd enjoy just a close encounter during shooting hours...not standing under my stand making dinner late every hunt...
  7. LOL.... I'm sorry I see Livingston county under your name...Seriously the above isnot funny....but do I ever feel vindicated!
  8. Larry.... is that an 8 with no brow tines? ...that's sorta neat...never seen that before, 6's yes but never noticed an 8...congrats to him.
  9. Your pic shows why I hate tracking deer in maple leafs...look close...you swear some of that red looks like dried splattered blood... Ohhh! that and golden rod...When in golden rod I have only been able to recover because I followed hooves. deepness, dirt splatter direction..real fun when they cross a ton of prints... I've walked around within feet of dead deer not seeing them until swinging around to the belly side and catching white as I knelt to look through lower stalks... Gosh I actually do enjoy successful tracking when I think on it...
  10. On ...Studded snow tires...Our best friend...if we want to get home, many days of the winter....
  11. Depends on length and age of deer...the doe here love bedding just below the top of the ridge here...
  12. You got a great deal...our went for way more than that and it had no compressor with it.
  13. Sorry ..I know I've had deer do a slow wide walk and double back on me to find them not far from were I shot...Did you look well to each side then back towards your stand?
  14. I grow the Hemp for food ,high protein count. The deer absolutely love it. Cover for it gets 6ft tall and loves climbing peas and beans. But also for the nitrogen fixing..It fixes tons of nitrogen and when cut and incorporated back improves soil tilth. I have to say...I buried some too deep and a month after I planted we got rain..it popped up out of the ground like it was on a mission. The deer have been bedding in it...now that it is flattened they will continue to bed in it for there is still some cover, but the thermal ground protection in that bedding will keep them in it.
  15. I just went out to mailbox and grabbed cards...still looking for that cat...only 2 fox and one deer walking through the snow fall last night. It's been missing since Sunday from what they said...house cat just fixed...not looking hopeful. Anyways...everything is covered in a thin layer of ice, flatted the hemp/beans and the turnips. All branches are starting to hang and limbs down everywhere...So much for that trail clearing I did yesterday. Combo ice/snow/ rain, can't get car doors opened...
  16. Lol...get many birds trying to nest in that "dew" of yours....
  17. Ever think that some one in the thousands of members, probably many in his area(thus the trail cam pic), may have mentioned this being joked about on a hunting chat room. So he checked it out. You could always call the number or Google it to see if it's real...First thing out of your gate is troll? BTW ....it is a land line number in Syracuse
  18. None of my business,That said, I am curious as to what it went for at auction. You can tell me none of your business and I'd understand...
  19. ZAEED, Thanks for clearing that up and I hope you recover them soon and in good health. They certainly are unique looking animals, and apparently smart as well, having eluded capture thus far...Keep us posted. Good Luck.
  20. Your right but not with 18mph winds and 28mph gusts...I've had too many close calls on calm days...and trees are dropping big time. The summers stress is now showing up. Remember that guys, especially those of you that were in more drought prone areas than us. Stressed trees can be deceiving..look healthy but snap or usually up root in an instant. Take care and be safe...
  21. Great to see a grouse,I miss ours...Good Luck to all of you.
  22. Thanks Bionic, but I am hunkered in myself....We have just a tad over an inch of snow and with these winds..I wont hit the woods.
  23. Snow on the ground, freezing rain, high winds and miserable gusting....if every thing isn't hunkered down I'd be surprised to no end.
