  1. Eddie I honestly feel more excitement over the thought of seeing you with a great deer that you want ,then I do for my self. I know the effort and time you put into your hunting . Dang! Knowing your daily drive wears me out! You'll be on my daily check list at the top. Send best wishes and hopes to Eddie today....
  2. So, I would hope the point of this post is clearly seen. 2 weeks before season has even started and the angst over wounded deer is clearly shown by just the mentioning of it. Which was why I said "It can wear on ALL hunters". My hope is for all your shots from any of your weapons, result in perfect kills. Though rarely do we see perfection in most aspects of life. We can only work and strive to come as close as possible.
  3. Well Stubby that's your interpretation. That said let me make this painfully clear and to the point. I do not write on any hunting forum with the thought " anti' s" might read it . What they would think of my writings is of no F ing concern to me. Hope that made it very clear to you .the" Figuring" you made is much like an " assumption" you understand about assuming I'm sure. BTW you were not on my mind AT ALL when I wrote the OP..Lol! Oh..FYI. I have no "Rhomulan not Klingon"(sp?) heritage, thus limited "cloaking " abilities..haha thanks for the laugh...
  4. You say secret...I say .....Discretion is a wise mans tool...Go get help THEN if you want to tell the world whole story have at it with a recovery pic...Just don't put the cart before the horse... As for you last question....Figure it out on your own...
  5. How could I ever get surprised at a point taking wing and flying over certain peoples heads...Well I can't lol... That said ,,,Thank You for the thread it's self, you guys will put wheels under it. Letting it it roll along catching at least a few intelligent ones...
  6. LOL not one to turn down an invitation huh Stubby? Well as you mention it, there are many more of these in bow than gun...thus my posting it in that bow section and being a bow hunter my self. No one said it has to be a secret...in fact I believe I said a couple of times it happens to every bow and gun hunter to be honest, at least once..NOT ONLY once.... That said it also builds up and when it does..... out come the nasty comments and that happens every year. Gosh some of you guys get rather creative about those and have rather long memories...I could see, probably what prompted this, the "16 days to opener " thread being great fuel for the nasty guy comments that will come. So get your hackles up all you want and don't get the point I do not care ...
  7. If I recall I may have taken a little heat on it...surprise...lol...seriously though I don't care it deserves repeating..here goes: For you new hunters remember IT HAPPENS TO EVERYONE at least once, no shame in it unless you don't try your best to follow up. Asking for help is a good thing, write down deer searches number and put it in your phone...remember to read up NOW before coming on line and announcing a mishap, learn about shots, arrow smells and above all animal reacions. Also remember you can PM people for help. For everyone else all the I lost this or that, I wounded this or that and the other deer, tends to start adding up and again it happens...Though us long time archers should think about how many of such incidences can wear on ALL hunters...PM's, PM's, PM's because we all need to vent on such things and should.... Just a thought...fire away
  8. As long as I can scavenge enough materials...at a mile and a half above the valley floor I'd have a few days to get er done...just need enough room for the 7 of us and 5 dogs and 2 cats......hhhmmm not much bigger than one of the blinds...lol
  9. No Larry the end isn't near...Just a topic starter and if you lived on a hill that in bad winters you have to get phone calls saying I'm head back to my parents 20 miles away because...you can't get up the road...or you look out and the huge plow salt trucks are having a difficult time or you have to drive around trying three different roads to find one that might get you home, because the plows couldn't make it up the hill...Then you'd find the idea and signs of a bad winter to come.. worrisome...
  10. Speaking of building... It was raining yesterday morning so I went out to finish the blind and trim some lanes...sorry about fuzziness I think the lens got moist...The views from blind are before the trimming...So here's the final entry hope it gives ideas...BTW the red mat is over 55gal garbage bags to keep out the wind on floor and the dark pic is of a criss crossing of two bags under roofing rods. They fit perfect and tuck into the window wire. This blinds been out side a couple of years and is still in great shape, but why risk getting dripped on easy solution and the stool is a garden scooter with a big comfy adjustable swivel seat...plus I have a back up folding lawn chair with a back.
  11. Well that's good, sorry I'm already grandpup sitting this and next weekend...iron man competitions for the kids. 2 shepherds and a chocolate lab in the house is more than enough for me.
  12. I'm trying to remember, maybe one of you can pin the date down.,but we had a wet heavy snow opening week of bow. I recall being ticked because all the trees still had green leaf cover. The snow bent everything down and you couldn't see 10 ft standing on the ground. Took a while to melt.
  13. Mines 3 arrows and from a stand. Because all the climbing has started to be rather painful different distance now is down to 2 . 10 and 25, but still from the stand.
  14. Marinated pork loin chops grilled. ,corn on the cob, pasta salad.
  15. Frame those puppies and display them...might be a quick sale...
  16. So .....FL. still there I haven't watched the new lately
  17. His "tenants" are the problem...when he first bought he used my cell # on my posted signs to call me up when I was in my tree stand a 1/2 mile or so away to literally scream at me. His tenants told him I was down there shooting deer in their yards. I ticked them off when I bought and posted it...They thought it was just theirs to hunt..Lol Well as you can guess that call didn't go over well...his threatening name calling...I nipped it in the bud when he posted my property the following year...I drove up.his drive and we had s face to face. When I left it was with his apology and removal of signs. An agreement he call the cops and me about trespassers. His getting tenants under control. Lastly while having a good firm grip on his hand,I said If he ever calls me up again and speaks the way he did I will come down and some one will be calling an ambulance, because I swear to God I'll kick your arse. He looked at me smiled and said,I believe you'd try....No problems since It's been a few years. As far as "loopholes" pretty sure the DEC definitions on what constitutes a legal dwelling are very clear as they are written. I believe they written those definitions to avoid loopholes Though as I said to be sure I will still range the distance,as far as I'm concerned farther away is better.
  18. You'll get that with Apple's too, but that's not the case they are eating everything and early...plus jumping fences to get more...first time ever they have taken out all my squash..I would have blamed rabbits had there not been big clumps of deer scat and foot prints everywhere., Anyhow just can't shake this feeling...
  19. That was the other thing that made me think not bits, but obviously they are.
  20. With my old bow it was 10 to 20 yrds...New one 3 to 35. I have noticed kill shot comfort has lengthen with the new bow,it's s faster flatter shooting. But distance really isn't on my mind at a shot...It's best angle and deer behavior. Won't shoot at a spooky alert anything. I have passed on many a beautiful buck chasing doe. I just can't get past how crazy fast they can spin and or lunge when that doe bolts. In practice where every thing is measured. I'm consistently dead on at 25 yards...be it on the ground or in the stand. To the draw, well I shoot low poundage and my practice consists of drawing and holding the draw. I draw when I see they can't get a visual.on me and no other deer is around, sometimes they decide to stop and I'll have to let down but not often..
  21. Smoken, thanks for the visual..Seeing actual size puts it right in perspective for me. Doc your explanation taught me something new,I have never seen a drill bit that had a hollow shaft. There are so many different shape and sizes on counter sinks...That I've never seen.
  22. Only Zem could say if they are actually solid. I blew the picture up an they look hollow, that's why I said dibblers. Perhaps he'll clear up what the shaft looks like
