  1. I have a head lamp great if hands are full I use the green. But mostly the small leds that fit in your hand.. I Cup the lens and hold it at my side ,low. Just enough light to see around my feet. Though mostly no light. This year there will be lights too many skunk around. Walking up to one in the dark, not fun.... But his thing is being able to find his stand with out scanning a light around.
  2. Lol he wakes ,resets his alarm for later then says...don't go to sleep, I'm going to need help getting ready for work when I get up...
  3. Well all the fall plots are looking good..though clover and turnups seem a tad slower on some. I mentioned the over seeding thin areas and found 2 different flocks undoing the seeding again...lol how can I complain when I planted this stuff for them? The earlier planted oats started setting seed. Which is fine because the deer are still munching the tops with milk stage oats and the turkey are picking them as well. These short oats are giving a lot of cover for everyone...The deer are also pulling the turnips...I'd say way early but we had a bit of cold damage here last week....it got my basil and the rest of my cukes.
  4. The storms hit around 11pm and has just settled to rain/wind only now. I've been dealing with Angel on the verge of a heart attack with the horrendous lightening and thunder. Mr B rather testy from being woke by her whining and him being the only one she wanted. Not understanding he needs to get up for work at 4 :30... Well they are both sound asleep, snoring now and I'm wide awake with a miserable head ache. Time to get her to the vets for a tranquilizer perscription. Her fear of storms and loud noises has become a health risk. Poor old thing.... Oh just wonderful! We have an upset skunk out the bedroom window...so much for that nice breeze! A night to forget
  5. Eddie I find ours lose light by early morning..ever consider reflective tape down the ladder rails and just use a small flashlight as you think your close. Perhaps those stick in the ground reflective discs along the trail in.
  6. Thought so, I have one..dang they are good decoys...ps I did tyoe real.
  7. Lack of phosphorous and or colder soils when young.
  8. Nice Eddie.. is that a retal deer or a Renzo Decoy?
  9. We've always had dogs at camp friends ,family......only issues have been stinky drooly ones allowed all over the furniture. Did you not sit down and make a set of rules you both abide by in your deal? There are no clause, such a death of one or the other or failure to cover taxes...abussive actions buy out clause.. Did either of you consider legal protections? We bought a house once with a shared drive...our lawyer would not handle the deal unless we got the Elderly couple to sign a usage contract..that stated in the event of a sale we could stop it if we didn't like the prospective buyer, and how the drive was to be used and repaired..Well they signed. Died 3 years later and the fsmily sold the place without informing the new owners of the contract. The new owners wife turned into a real...well I wont say... She finally pushed me far enough I let her have it and clearly explained the ice she was walking on...She went ballistic when she found out..ended up divorcing and abandoning her kids and husband leaving him with the house...Lets just say she was an unstable nut job....He respected the contract until he sold the place to a great guy he made sure we met.
  10. Well Ibseem to be missing a post..Inwrote it but it apparently didnt make the send... DUHHH! .....Showed pic to Mr B. His response was. " Thats a collar mark not the collar, the collar was orange" I forgot he had told me he had seen a collared deer down the hill on his way to work last year. That would be another plausable explanation.
  11. Geez what a way to spend a holiday weekend, prepping for that! Hope everything goes smoothly and results are clear.I checked at my last Doc appointment I have another 3 years to go. Mine resulted in having a lower GI as well 3 days later...another wide awake fun time and those"milkshakes" to drink...Pretty sure there is no part of me thats never been x-rayed.
  12. On my morning walk I . Checked 4 more stands and did some trimming...great morning until I got home. Went to check the mega crop of kiwi...and WHAM!!!! $&$@: #//?!! Nailed again by hornets...went back later to get the mail I dropped in my painful retreat.... huge paper nest right up under the vines...no Kiwi for me this year..arm got Soft ball sized cherry red welts on them..f...ers
  13. As long as any significant snows hold off those young poults should be fine...but if we get dumped on early and often no...A bit concerned on that point....
  14. I checked the farmers corn next door...no change bs..just silk beginning to peak through..now he planted all his fields up here the same day. This is normally cut for silage but when mature...what w ill they do with such late fields if they dont have time to develop?
  15. I discovered more wheat so I went out and over seeded a couple of areas the turkey were especially active in. We have rains coming in tonight and all day tomorrow thundering now.
  16. Depends on what happened during bow...and how much time I got in shooting 243 before season. Probably t h e browning 20......but possibly the crossbow in the swamp.
  17. Milorganite...deters and fertilizes plus adds iron..50 #...20.00 there abouts
  18. I dont know if you remember but way back in late winter I mentioned all the hatched tent caterpillars. And said the next freeze/ snow I hoped would kill them. I believe it got a lot but not all here..and we have the beetles but not as many....
  19. Haha. I just caught that under the picture...things that make fairy tales
  20. So where did he pick up those magic beans and is his name Jack?. Lol ....great picture.
  21. Perhaps if it was tight to begin with..if it is, it looks darn tight now. Though you are right..the pics he showed me were winter and the deer would only be a yearling now. That said it makes me wonder. If someone attempted Taming a deer once in the area..could they have more than once? Slim chance I know, but once a nut always a ....... Anyone putting a collar on a wild deer I believe falls into that catagory. Culverts probably correct..strange fur coloration... I wouldnt have given it a second thought had I not known about that other deer and seen his cell pics. BTW..Strange all around..look at her belly..shes so fat she almost look like shes ready to drop fawns
  22. Ok we may be looking at different area... directly behind jaw bone and to me it looks like a faded collar. That said remember my talking about the pictures of the young deer the nieghbor took his wife and kid playing with.. He said at one point he saw it with a collar on.
  23. Pretty light and staight line for a shadow? Also when I blow it up ..it would appear she has an adams apple if It's a shadow...I really hope your right.
  24. If you think back to pictures I told you a nieghbor showed me you'll know what I fear I may be seeing...
