  1. Hmmmm with out response...two different sized dibblers....
  2. Did anyone click that link...I'm curious as to what you thought of it...
  3. What?...isn't that "shaft" designed JUST like a wooden handle receptor?it's an open tube isn't it?
  4. I know our town will not issue a certificate of legal occupancy to camping trailers...a few issued about that has risen over the years there is a square footage requirement and a structural tie in requirement...When I go down I will take the range finder with me and measure my line to his camper...I have a map with footage of both my property and his I carry it in my back tag... He isn't the problem in the area...his land tenants are..It's strange he owns the land but the tenants are listed as lot owning tax payers he also controls a well pump? The whole things odd. The town put in an order that if a trailer burned only a stick house could replace it...
  5. Well problems are a PITA... yours seem to be really bd...We have lots and lots of water on our hill, saying knocking on wood...we are 1900 ft but we have to buy bottled water to drink....It was perfect until a combination of torrential rains and new farming above us ..e-coli contamination. IT may have been cleared up in the last 3 years but I can't get Mr. B. to pull the pump and bleach the system...It is a real pain... Our new coffee maker has a cleaning cycle...and with this Avoca 5 gal bottled water the system needs cleaning all the time...you should see the crud that comes out of that maker, lines to pots bottom with calcium...He's just about ready to do the well and gets another "rush" job I'd get another estimate or two then see if installing a new tank would be best...sounds like a well dug isn't a real option from your description. If you have an excavator available can you get a trenching bucket and do the digging your self...then buy the line and do the install?...If they are buying the material, they are putting a mark up on it I'm sure so you price out the cost of material to get an idea of what they are actually charging.
  6. I'm convinced we are in for a rip roaring winter. I seriously hope I am very wrong. The animals are just not acting normal....I went out to the fenced garden that is surrounded by lush food plots ...clovers. oats. brassica. alfalfa and WW. surrounded by 7 apple trees dropping really good apples... plus several more not far away along with many other plots not far away and the ground is literally covered in beech ,acorns and hickory. The deer went into the garden and ignored all the corn and there's a lot...ate all my winter squash ,except the pumpkins , ate all the rest of my beans, half my swisschard ( Never touch it unlit Nov.) , all the carrot tops and half my beets. The rabbits and ground hogs took out nearly all my turnips down the hill and the deer helped..Mind you, there is hundreds of acres of corn around us and a beef hay field with clovers timothy and alfalfa. I'm telling you it's not normal. The flocks of cow birds and starlings...not here, by now they are normally driving me crazy. I haven't seen a bat in 2 weeks...I can't keep up with the rodent nests, in all engines and the blinds. OMG I went out to feed the boys and over night their 8 x 12 ft dog house with a loft was completely taken over by at least a dozen very big and nasty looking spiders... I had to get a broom to make it to the door and then to their dishes...WTH is that about? Our chickens are pulling feathers and making nests down in their litter under the nest boxes. Been here a lot of years and I have never felt so uneasy about winter arriving, even though it's warmed up a lot the last few days...Oh and new wasp and hornet nests popping up all over never seen that so late.
  7. Dang I have to say that video...dedication..lol
  8. Have you guys seen this? It's long and bloody but good. BTW....... WNYBuckHunter...your deer anatomy post no longer has pictures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6cLLHsMnL4
  9. acceptable on a deer is a line from shoulder to ham....now read this carefully... I say a line and that length because, depending on angle of the deer or a bad mishap(experience) on said "line" an arrow can kill a deer. IF the shot is not broadside between rib and ham. On said line a bad mishap on ham can cut a femoral artery and they drop fast...had a nock stay on the string at shot, arrow went way far left hit artery and deer dropped 30yrds out. On that line if you hit the shoulder it will drop the deer in their tracks. On angled shots that line will take out lungs and or liver and heart depending on the angle. Above or below can of course kill them BUT more risk of lengthy recoveries unless spined.. Now that said Just my experience and the angles of shots I prefer 3" back from the shoulder blade
  10. They ordered Mr. B.'s a couple of weeks ago...we have no idea exactly what it will look like ,but apparently it's "loaded"? We'll see, he generally ops out of all the fancy stuff other than air.
  11. OK I'm on the PC so can paste this. Here is where I find the DEC regulations interesting but also important to land owners read carefully their wording and definitions. I'll highlight or underline a few..I have to say Be careful where you place your kids play areas or that pool on a property. They in general, consider a farm to be one with an income of at least 10,000 per year... I have had several conversations with them on this issue...
  12. I can't copy and paste, kindle. So if you read further it has definitions...dwellings camping trailers are excluded as well as detached garages and out buildings or any temporary structure.I'll post it tomorrow.
  13. A mixed green salad, Chicken fingers with a garlic yogurt dipping sauce, steak fries with cumin, garlic powder and chili powder. Corn on the cob green beans
  14. hahahahahahahahahahaha...phew breath... hahahahahahaha...wipe eyes...hahahahahahaha
  15. So as I have mentioned the swamp is lined on either side with houses the south, right on the line and at the road.. it's only 411ft wide so obviously that limits me but my ladder stand was just on the edge of my gun legal range. This happened after the new owner tore down and removed 2 rental trailers parallel to me. once gone it went from bow to gun...and I did hunt with the shot gun down there last year... Well since he has placed a camping trailer at the farthest pad. He is remodeling a mobile home down at the road so I see he's now living in his camper. I would have to assume his address is the mobile home. and I believe you can't get a ticket of occupancy on a camping trailer. I had to move my stand 15 yrds closer to him which may have me right at the limits. If not...is it legal to be within 500 ft of a camper when shooting? I have enough left over wood to make a hang on farther away but I do not have the time nor energy to do it this year...
  16. do you need some sort of coupon? or is it just go to site?
  17. That and there seems to be a light glow to them when not shot...I use a hip quiver and I have a cap I cover my fletchings with on the way in...those white fletching are bright as hell in the dark. Well that's what it seems like to me, drive me a bit crazy thinking here I am all camo and the deer can see these white bouncing "blobs " moving through the woods and fields...lol whats the point...
  18. Yep...been trying for years...closest I've gotten...how ever wide a truck is and in my PJ's and no weapon ...lol still working on it though I do use scents they come around but never had one close enough...pushed several walking through brush to stand sites..that's always "fun". I shot a doe at camp one year in my best area...by the time I went back and got the suzuki it was getting late..I could not get her on the rack so I had to gut her... by now it's dark and I will tell you I was REAL NERVOUS and by my self at camp with no cell service...I believe I left most of her nose on the road driving back to camp...not my best strapping job...lol
  19. I tried one just once...loved it in practice but when it came to a live deer shot...I lost the deer. That experience cost me 100.00 to deer search and sent me out to buy a new bow and release...not a site...since...several heart shots and a few 35yrd ones...I won't go further than 35rds not even with the cross bow and that has a perfect scope....though it ended up being to someone picking it up still should never have been able to leave the property. I could not say exactly where that arrow went in because of the site. With out it I always know, I can watch that arrow pass through the deer...For me It's too distracting. old dog new tricks thing I suppose I meant it, I give you guys credit......I don't worry about range...never had a problem letting deer walk if they were past 35 yrds...but that's more due to bow / arrow weight... I shoot just under 50#'s and use lighter arrows.
  20. I have to say...with everything you guys have to look at with sights...at this stage if I ever tried one , I would be hitting the broad side of a barn...just on the next property over...LOL ...draw look down the arrow release..no worries about shaded low light areas, double pins, anything out of adjustment. just having to remember, don't grip the bow and bend at waist. You have my respect...it's all too complicated for me.
  21. I just want one with the bow...better chances at camp than home but with them running across the drive during the day it's looking better...but in all these years...only once have they walked past a cam.
  22. LOL honest to God...did you not know THAT ONE SENTENCE would totally erase all the others with these guys....hahahaha
  23. now thats a tower...I'm liking those steps..., Mr B. just called me to say a flock ,big flock of turkey was feeding in the clover in front of Rivers blind...I have to say the bigger ones are great...comfy cushioned office chairs with arms..but on a cold day or rainy day these popups are great too. All the others are carpeted..this I'm thinking I will buy a rubber pad for now I know they have it by the yrd 4x5 1/2 should work well..hope to find a sale or coupon...or just talk them down on price we'll see...
  24. So what did you plant...Ahh broken welds...had that happen 2x's ...first on new disc and tractor supply trucked up a new one....I wasn't happy. Second time we hired a portable welder to field fix it. pulled his truck up and 15 mins later done.. Pins...we buy in bulk
  25. I actually had this situation It went like this...I was new to the area and had met my neighbor in the woods a few times and had long talks..I said I don't want to hunt your land but if a deer comes down and I have a good shot on it while it's on your place may I shoot and recover. He said I'd have to ask the other neighbor across the street for he gave her permission to look after the property and hunt and horseback ride it. He said he had absolutely no problem with it. ...So I talk to her and it was a NO! OK... I waited...I saw the neighbor and in talking I said thanks for saying yes but I guess it's a no go which is OK I understand. He said what? I explained and he got hot! Told me not to worry, hunt all of it if I wanted...which I declined and he had a talk with her...took away her hunting privileges. Now he leases it. but I still have recovery rights.. In your situation you have two issues.. 1. these people don't want to tick off the guy working on their place( if they have any smarts) 2. he could bad mouth you big time behind your back.Which could hurt you in the area So Going to them with a gift saying thank You and telling them with respect to another hunter you went and introduced your self to the other guy. He was firm about not wanting you to hunt. You figured he has plans for his friends to hunt it because being such a big property just 2 bow hunters should not be a problem, but you didn't ask( this plants a seed).. You hope that your introducing your self to him hasn't caused a problem between them, that is the last thing you want...though you'd and only you would still like to hunt the opposite side he he does and would like to offer....What ever talents you have to them or driveway plowing in the winter what ever...Worst that could happen they kick you or both off... Good Luck
