  1. Paula ,cant link now but you can try googling Latest NYODN. It might have the newest issue on line . Hhmm I just tried ,need to type out fully but I didnt see it on their site.
  2. Have a great day, better year and many more to come.
  3. Ya know i havent been able to find beans any where for less than 50.00 a 50# bag. So in the past I have on very small plots used 1# bags of "old"store bought beans I've found on their last chance shelves they have sprouted great and the deer hit them. The other day I was in Sams club,MrB is on a bean kick. Lentils, black ,white beans. So I buy them in bulk and individually bag small portions with the vac seal. Well they are well below a buck a pound and come in 25# bags. I'm thinking this spring I will do a small area in the cheapest of these with a spring wheat or pea planting to see how they do. If well then they will be a go to fall planting mix. The deer miss all the beans the farmer gave them last year...jumped my garden fence left everything but my pole beens alone. Luckily they wouldn't walk between the rebar mesh fencing and only got either end if a 30 ft row. So Soy or any other, beans are beans to them.
  4. Yep I really boogied to get all mine in before the last rain. If this holds out for a couple of weeks...I would have a poor start to the turnips and legumes.but now everything is germinating great and the cool nights has the dew heavy in the mornings perfect for these type of crops.
  5. Ok... it made me laugh ,but still just too cool.
  6. Careful Eddie, just using the word interesting could get you labeled a racist. Your not supposed to use your brain to consider all aspects of history. Only the popular spoon fed narative is allowed these days. Disagree and out comes the labler.
  7. Lol...under. 30... she should still be good for those old mature ones
  8. Sorry about your hunting spot. No need to apologize..we all need to vent...it serves to make others think.
  9. Man it was suppose to be 72...we never got above 63 and that's on line our thermometer reads barely 60...I love it!!! no bugs!!!!...well skeeters but hey .... will be in 40's tonight All most doesn't bother me that my big beautifulned tomatoes got hit with late blight and are ALL rotting in the garden...they wouldn't have ripened well in this weather anyhow...
  10. I'm past my prime for that...no more bucks walking around with them dangling from a tine...hahahahaha
  11. I want to know how much it's going to cost the tax payers for the "street test kits" they'll have to carry to determine real or synthetic..Hey one way for Cuomo to fill his "war" chest...stock or out right ownership( silent partner) in the company making them...ya I can see it now.......I suppose I need to point out the sarcasm in all this to some, before the post start...
  12. ahh I can see it now....yes officer I am a hunter..."step out of your vehicle for a search" ...Officer you have no cause..." I smell urine!...Really Are you discriminating against a older woman with children and a bladder problem now....hahahaha I'll have to start buying depends to show a record of "usage " just in case...hahahaha. No really.... outlawing retail sales as well.... Oh big thing on ticks too... one death and many cases of that deadly virus...Ya know... I'd probably rid a few more carriers if the DEC would put as much effort into cross bow usage as they are in urine bans...just a thought...
  13. Wow was that a scar down the face of second buck?...nice looking deer
  14. Dang! almost to hot to hold and let the games begin... The URINE BAN...cue thunder and rolling black clouds...hahhahaha Seriously though that paper reeked of urine... both against and a full back page ad for it...calling for hunters to protect their rights...bet that set 4 seasons back a penny or two...JK Really you need to pick one up and read it...not JUST ONE article...
  15. OMG! catch my the NEW NYODN I'm about to write...lol
  16. That's actually a great price..From experience great size too for anyone doing woodland plots or lands with narrow turning radius's...looks like my york rake...
  17. I expected my feed oats to die back ...nothing ever serve just one purpose in my plots...mixing them in with other things assures that when they do die back they are there rotting, feeding the soil and the bulbs that are still there to feed the deer late...or to provide that much need cover for the legumes and help crowd out weeds until the brassica are in full leaf...also they do help in keeping the brassica leafs from getting wiped out over night....If nothing else...just plain ole rotting into the ground makes them worth 12.00. The roots and leafs add to the soil better than a 15.00 bag of fertilizer. If you find triticale in NYS let me know where please.
  18. Well I have the oak hunting covered for I have several plots and plot trails in the oak flats and at least a dozen stands and blinds surrounded by oak... and I make sure it's groups of Oak because my reds do not all produce the same year...and I'd love to have whts...but this side of the hill does not have them..or very very few, none with in 2 miles of us...Go across the valley and they are loaded with whts. Today on my walk I saw my first buck I held Angel as he fed on acorns and walk right up to us 15 yrds before Angel gave a whine...I was checking stands today. I know the buck are checking out the area now I hear them grunt and see there prints...I found a scrape today...so they are starting to map out their "hunting grounds", as it were...My walk now shift to the road...
  19. mmmm...I can just imagine they have a lot of "life" in them still lol
  20. Study up.. http://www.outdooralabama.com/sites/default/files/FieldJudgingLiveDeer.pdf http://extension.missouri.edu/p/G9485 http://www.dccl.org/information/deer/deerage.htm (teeth) http://whitetail.winchester.com/2013/aging-whitetail-bucks-in-the-field/ http://www.imbmonsterbucks.com/field-judging.htm (last one is rack scoring)
  21. 2012 to 2017 and he was at least 1 1/2 at the time of the 2012 pic? That would make him 6 yrs old I have to tell you that rack looks nearly identical but looking at that deer body, no way would I say he's 6 yrs old...hhmmmm???? BTW that plot looks GREAT http://www.outdooralabama.com/sites/default/files/FieldJudgingLiveDeer.pdf
  22. Ya I'm thinking that my doe drags will be tough this year...a few of them have their bellies so stuffed they look pregnant already...lol Though, I am a bit concerned for my season...I am not complaining but last years acorn drop was actually too much for them to eat...and they are dropping huge acorns again this year...All we have are reds...200 of them ..plus the apple trees are packed there is just so much food out there. Once the surrounding camp guys start showing up...I just might lose all my day time activity again. That's what happened the last 2 years.
  23. Dang as cheap as I am I would consider buying one...great review...
  24. Happy birthday and may you be blessed with many more great ones...
  25. Well gosh now I really wonder if it was a coupke of deer or a bear I heard today...Looks like everything is early this year.
