  1. You see, besides a cow of a doe...look close around her head and neck....
  2. Dansville has the 3/4 for 20.00 and the vehical is a different, one camo and the name on it started with an M
  3. I mentioned weeks ago the bugs and animals were acting differently..that we probably should start preparing for an early winter. Glad to see others notice such things....
  4. Good luck! Take some pics from seat of stand.
  5. If you haven't figured if out by now I'll say it....Its all about the prepping for me,more so than the actual hunt. The time spent on stand is spent thinking about prepping for next year. Drawing deer into the property and seeing them in person or getting them on cams. Thats when my hunting actually begins, months before the actual season. I accomplished what I set out to do and won the "game" before ever pulling the " trigger ".
  6. I thought a valley frost was mentioned the other day ...but he sad it so fast I thoughtvit was my imagination. Last night was suppose to be warmer than tonight...so we'll see. Exactly one more month guys....
  7. A whopping 38 degrees here right now...didnt turn on the heat and a couple of windows were open.A bit chilly in the house!......
  8. No hot air balloon enthusiast in the Finger Lakes area? We usually get one or two that fly over each year.
  9. Chicken fried rice with a ton of veggies ..with seseme oil and garlic, soy
  10. then I gotta run...Did you know tractor supply is now selling a utility vehicle ..didn't get specs other than nice "looking" and has a dump bed for a bit over 7 thou. and they sell rubber mats by the foot and as thin as 1/4 inch...an example a guy bought 4' x 6' and it cost him 35.00. I did not know this nor did he...just happened to come across it in the tire section...anyways how great would that be for a blind...foot insulation and you could use rolling chairs...
  11. They are cutting the bean fields today...the alfalfa and clovers ...Discing for WG but they won't have the turnips in theirs that I do...I'll need them too, because the corn will be up very late next to and behind us...hundreds of acres to hide in and eat... but I'll have that cool sweet grains to bed in and they have already started
  12. Any of you local guys going? the glow is at Brae Burns tonight at dusk...a garage sale at every other house all over town... actually saw some neat things driving by a couple of places...!...lol Perfect temps for flights for sure....
  13. I have one particular nasty one that's been crapping all over the porch and eating the cats food...which sits 4 ft off the deck...I may be sitting out there in my Adirondack chair laying in wait...
  14. That is a combo of wheat and rye with Hercules turnips...Now it gets a bit more light than you might think... For one thing, once the sun clears the corn it is at a lower angle as it crosses that area...It also is on the upper side of the hill so it gets sun WAY sooner than any of my lower plots. What kills plots like these are the roots and a lack of moisture and nutrients...That is why a fall planting of such things is good here. I can manage the leaf cover easily....not far from the house..I have actually shot doe off that plot standing at the corner of the garage, but by fall the leafs have thinned due to bugs and natural dropping..plus blown off by storms...spring anything does semi OK. with the amount of rain and cold this plot took off from last weeks planting
  15. I had to laugh...I went out to do errands and what do I see at 11 :45 am ...smoke flowing out of several wood burning stove chimneys..... I get down in the valley and it's actually warm ...we are wearing jackets and fleece up here...
  16. I certainly hope this is a fluke....couple flock of geese just flew over honking and heading south...I know its cool out and going low 40's the next couple of nights..may even hit high 30,s here..but the geese already???...early winter? Another snowy bow season?....hhmmmm
  17. You'll love it! Get a fold up lounge chair, they are on sale now..that way if you want to really beat a big buck in the area to your blind...you can go sleep there and have your cell phone wake in the morning. Buddy hester with two tanks...rolling office chairs are great...Mr. B keeps me supplied with them . He is very particular about his chairs..won't use them if he feels the seats worn.
  18. walk always. that said, when my knee was in really bad shape and we first got the Gator I would drive to our lower drive and park the Gator about 20 yrds in. I did this one afternoon and as I stepped away from the Gator, after I had got my gear together and my harness on,I. Nearly stepped on a doe 5 yrds away in the brush. Another time I had deer let me walk by before popping up and running.
  19. Last one, last year in swamp...they use to be all over and made turkey hunting very enjoyable...listening to their drumming..I miss that...cut nearly all our popular to get the root suckering . I had hoped it would bring them back...but not yettons of young sprouts appearing all over though.
  20. I'm beat! Pizza..t hin crust chicken ,Avacado, and the works on his side...pepperoni sausage and the works on mine.. Ps....glass of Bully Hill Reisling..surprisingly good! Mr B iced tea or water..the gout is back and he hasn't even had a N/A in 8 weeks..poor guy even afraid ot NA...lol
  21. I didn't read all of these...that said...land is ONLY a bad investment if you pay the wrong price for it...If you don't have a clear long term plan for it...If you don't understand your nature and the nature of ownership....last but not least...buying in the wrong place... Took me 4 years of looking then an emergency to buy the first parcel...but because we had looked over the area several times in 4 yrs...I knew what we had....Took 2 yrs to find Our sons... BTW we have NO mortgage ...for a few years now...just taxes...our son backs up to a farm with his 5 acres on a dead end road and his neighbor has 50 acres and he watches over her...he can hunt his 5 with no issues plus his neighbors..he has no mortgage and is only 30...So You have to think and plan to the point your planning for future neighbors as well, when you look to buy any property.
  22. Took pics of the trail plot behind the house last week...pics are from end of E/W section and then of N/S section (straighter run)...Sorry close up was a bit shaky...hey I had just climbed that hill!...lol Grains and turnips... This draws them to the center of the property and allows them to feed on acorns way out back up through this to either acorns from house to right at the road or up to the farmers corn field.
  23. Wow both me and kindle this morning...that is brace, salvage, aluminum, joist, Lowes, lighter in weight,...lol I think I got them all... I was in a hurry to get down to the swamp had stuff to do first..all packed up ..walk that 1/2 mile and ...@!$@#$ I have the wrong keys...now I'm resting before driving the car down and coming back up through the actual swamp it's self...Freaking hills killing me!...lol
