Thanks! because the swelling that moved to below my eye, is so pronounced I can actually see it without a mirror....I don't know if it's just the bee venom working it's way out of my system or what..not pretty sight that's for sure..Looks like I haven't slept in about 5 years...lol

Well ,sad to say no concert last night.. I had called him when the bee stung me and my eye swelled shut. I wanted to be able to really enjoy it and wasn't sure how I'd feel or look. Good thing for it was still swollen yesterday, enough people mentioned it when I was out. And besides a headache,it itched like mad! The swelling has moved and now is under my eye and over my cheek. Alls good though because our son was doing a job,his business, and lost a track then we had a wicked storm roll through. With them calling for scattered thunderstorms. We agreed to try again at a different time.

Hhmmmm....these answers surprise me a bit...living in the hills and on one side of a lake valley sound travels strangly here . I've mentioned it before. But still pin pointing and hearing distant shots has never been a problem.. when the nieghbor was nearly shot a half mile up the hill from me. She couldnt tell where the shot came from. I told officer Hill exactly where it did and I walked him to the area. He went over their property line and found the casings 50 yards in while I found the trees they hit infront of her stand. Theres a gun club miles from us and their shooting range is rather loud here. During water fowl season I can pick up the faint sounds and these are faint, of shot guns at the end of Conesus lake in the management unit there, also guys on Hemlock lake..

Hemlock JUST got their WR in but it wasn't bagged yet...He said don't ask me for rape or radish....he's had a run on them ....he knew I was in for the grains.. So because they got like a 1-2 ton bag of WR in today they hadn't had time to bag it yet...did pick up the 2 bags of WW for 9.00 a bag with a couple of bags of triple 15 and 2# of regular ladino...Holy Cow...could not see out the windshield with the wipers about to fly off they were so high...I'm surprised I didn't hear a flash flood warning...just an amber alert today. It is going to be a while before it's dry enough to plant again...We won't have to worry about dry soils this year...but I'm really thinking we will need to worry about an early frost and even an early snowfall. I'm seeing some funky stuff in the plant and even the bug world right now. Unless there is a real "indian summer" which I'm thinking there won't be get your winter preping done early this year...I hope I'm wrong

That depends of what you consider "Western NY" I hear us called "western NY" in the fingerlakes but others...even the DEC will refer to us as the southern-tier finger lakes.... No matter what the area...weekdays are always the best earliy and far in...That way the later "I don't like walking dark woods" guys will come in and push to you. Always plan on the it's 10:30 and I need to hit the closest dinner for breakfast crowds...take a lunch and sit tight ...they'll return smelling of coffee and grease...pushing everything that doubled back right around to you again... Give a general area and these guys can steer you right.

Bot fly larvae? I saw a sickly field mouse in a plot walking one day...so I thought I'd end it's suffering by stomping on it's head...OMG I will NEVER do that again... I nearly ralphed, for what popped out the other end were 3 huge bot fly maggots...I have to tell you I do not know why that thing was alive. There was no way any organs could have fit in it's body with those NASTY things...I don't understand how they fit in him. ... I agree to insects...beetles are ferocious as well...

God I hope not we just bought hives for next year...LOL I think it's just the proximity and I have to say the bone around my eye is very sore to the touch...I honestly think he whumped me pretty good. I wonder how fast they are flying when they strike...I know I was moving pretty good when he was chasing me...bad knees and all. I wish I could take daily adrenaline shots, what a drug!...lol

Well I'll tell ya...it is now to where I can just make out my eye lashes and the eye won't open... so figured I would prepare more summer squash patties...My depth perception is a bit off right now... I'm over by the stove...making a right mess with shredded squash and do not realize I have leaned into and turned on the back burner gas, knobs are on the front and the processor masked the clicking noise. Apparently this has some how effected my sense of smell... I have a bowl on the stove grate with the shredded squash in it when... whumphhhhhh... a blue orange flame rolls under the entire grate at me...I stepped back just in time...lol.... I decided to just watch a movie and be done with it for the day...I did get the mowing done before this happened so not a complete loss...wanted to go pick up seed and fertilizer...but driving at the moments not an option......

I can almost set a clock by it...it's fall and the hornets and wasp are particularly nasty again...I've been pretty cautious about the ground bees...but just got nailed in the eye by a hornet...that then chased me a 1/4 mile with me trying to protect my face and wildly swinging that floppy hat of mine as I ran. He hit me like a ball-peen hammer on the outer edge of my eye socket bone...missing the eye bALL BY LESS THEN A HALF INCH...SWELLING UP GOOD. dang caps...gee even my gums hurt...So watch out while picking berries or trimming trails and lanes...Mr B.'s black berries will feed the turkey scattered around out there...lol... PS... not feeling the soreness in bridge of my nose anymore...always an up side between the discoloration on the side of my nose and the eye I look like I've gone a few rounds...lol

LOL actually not, for there is much more out there and I couldn't find some of the better ones that I learned from before planting them. I've used HS /Italian ryes often and actually talked about them here over the years. They did not persist...in fact sorta wish they had. They do not handle cold frost heaving grounds and that is what we have...much snow cover in very cold temps are need to insulate them in the northern parts of the country. This said they need to be pure Italian ryes and certain HS ryes. Not some of the newer hybrids bred with perennial ryes to increase winter hardiness. They do not die off in frosts..but will be lost to persistent and long cold winters..they do not head out too early to be mowed out in spring before a heading. Deer love it turkey love it and yes great as cover for clovers and other legumes especially in spring plantings wonderful for first time trail plantings for many reasons. High nutrients for the wild life. So no not all ryes are the same and there are many.

Thanks moog and yes we had to go to PA to get my remington243....apparently they have more lefties there... TF I have excellent penmanship...then again I do not hold my writing instruments like many a lefty... That whole over the top fingers toward them thing...I don't know how they even do that! I am couscous of things such as this simple example in the link I have three different styles...big bold and flowing for personal and casual scripts...tighter even for business and the "medical doctor" script for signatures...which rarely actually convey my name, but have enough uniqueness not to be easily forged. http://www.wikihow.com/Analyze-Handwriting-(Graphology)

Bringing up his cud to chew.... strangest was a good sized buck came trotting up the woods towards me. Making a loud clicking sound...it sounded just like one of those new years eve party sound makers. The ones you twirl around and it makes a loud clicking. He passed me on my back trail and payed no attention to me,as he continued up the hill constantly making that sound.

They are awesome! Easy to make and freeze..i made 6 dozen today and froze 5. We eat. Them all winter..made with yellow and zucchini. 12 cups of well squeezed shredded summer squash(sqeezed dry) 5 eggs 1 cup parmesan 3 cups mixed Italian cheeses 2 cups seasoned bread crumbs 1 1/2 cups flour 1 large diced valdalia onion 1jar of diced roasted redpepper ,well drained 6 cloves of diced garlic I use a nonstick griddle with olive oil spray..I make meat ball sized balls and the griddle fits 10 of these. The key is to leave enough space to flatten them. Brown flip and flatten...You want them thin and then drain on parchment or paper towel. If freezing..freeze in single layers on a cookie sheet then immediately vac seal.
