  1. Decoys during gun season..Before anyone flips...I ask because of a thread I saw on another forum...as most of you may have quessed ...I for one wouldn't risk it even on our private land....thats just me
  2. Honestly I can't imagine using some one elses tag that wasn't signed over...lets see 8N... I was issued 2 doe tags...plus and either /or (Which usually goes as a buck tag)....then I went November 1 and got 2 more doe tags and I could have 2 signed over...Thats one person with 6-7 possible doe tags....everyone around me hunts...only one property won't shoot does....Thank God for them... Say we have 10 hunters in1 square mile ..we actually have more and a possible 60 doe tags (10 H x 6 P = 60 tags) for that 1 square mile...Imagine if we could all fill them and start on family members tags?
  3. cbx....have you been to Google Earth lately?...because our town zoning and tax guys spends most of his day on it....the days of doing anything in the woods on the sly are...GONE!!!.....and let me say...it drives me wild...yep ever feel like your being watched when taking a woodland potty break...YOU ARE...lol
  4. Corn yeild was so great that I still have turnips all over ....We just had the Jan thaw and the field is actually still very productive....corn gave them early winter carbs....they now have mid winter and late winter they'll hit the HSG...heres a couple of pics of some on a HSG planting I did in the fall....nice and plump
  5. my blind came with explicite instructions "Only to be used with broad heads" it tells you not to attemp shooting anything but broadheads with a cutting surface through them....and I am just asking here....why would anyone duct tape the end of their barrel and then fire it?
  6. FFLgundealers.net...We use Schultheis in Arkport NY
  7. FFLgundealers.net...We use Schultheis in Arkport NY OOPPPS wrong post...but welcome...lol
  8. Doc.... I was going to leave it at what I said before ...but your comment needs a reply not for you as much as a young hunter...so heres my "lecture" I have a person near me that is in their forties...that has basically the same attitude...EVERY single year I find dead deer on our place 2 this year....get the calls I "shot at one can I trail?" and he and some times both of us trail...but I then find ...Well not sure where ...hit high...low...gun sight is off ....need new bow...the list is endless...one year..."it didn't look hit so I didn't look"...A beautiful 6pt I'd let walk 5 min before.... heard the shot and found in our creek a week later...now this person has "taught " their spouse and Oh ya.... Yep I have two of them now...Just makes me ill. See the problem is this type of person sees it's quarry as just a target...and not a living creature...one that interacts with it's herd members....carries and cares for it's young....works hard to survive a rather tough life....unlike a video image that moves around on a screen to be shot and killed ...these creatures we hunt have beating hearts and a brain...nerve endings and yes THEY FEEL PAIN....They feed us...give us a feeling of peace and even joy in watching them and WE as hunters HAVE to have a feeling of respect in all our endeveors to Kill them....formost in that is a CLEAN kill...This is not always possible believe me I know..... but if one can't feel a sadness or even some guilt in not achieving this ...well they shouldn't be out there "trying to kill anything'' It's nice he was excited to see a deer and even get a shot...but to have an OH well maybe next time attitude is something he needs to hear form other hunters as not quite exceptable...this isn't a video game...thay aren't rats in a land fill.....they deserve some empathy and a lot of skill from hunters......and ask some of the guys that saw and or got nothing this year...they really aren't an endless resource So if he's reading this...We under stand the excitement and hope you understand our reactions...I for one don't want another 40 something yr. old hunter out there with the attitude...I'll just keep shooting until I get one down that I can touch....Also Deer Find would have loved a call from a young hunter such as your self to help trail.....It doen't need to be a "trophy" buck for them to come out...they just want to show the deer the respect it deserves in being retrieved... Now I wish you luck in the future and don't take our reactions as anything but wanting you to go afield with a good attitude from the get go
  9. Oh..no I see bait...baiting...baiting....or just plain sad
  10. I planted whole corn from T/C farms....my own mix of purple top...Bankart...and Apin turnips....then in the middle...I'd found a big pricing error at Gander Mnt on I think Evolve Habitat maxi plot...it was and orange bag...their thank you was letting me have a 15# bag for around 15.00...so I took it...and I have to say WOW...it grew great...a bit faster than I expected so the grain actually produced seed heads this was a very late August planting...I also over seeded it with turnips .to get the deer started on it....even the mature grain was mowed down as you can see...new plot section so not only did I get feed for the critters...but nitrogen from the clovers and chicory in the mix...should see the turkies hit this hard this spring...I use Welter Seed and honey company for my seed
  11. ....Yes let your therapist know you bow hunt and give you long term muscle building exercises...and Knight and hale..(worse comes to worst) has a brace type of arm rest they use to sell looks like it worked well to steady and support holding arm http://www.knightandhale.com/Steady-Ready-Shooting-Rest
  12. sorry can't help it.....thats funny..sad...train wreck all at same time... Believe that boy had some serious problems in the first place...what better way not to look like a suicide...I really feel for his family
  13. Sorry...is it the drawing arm or your holding arm?.... No brakes BUT...Dr's always tell me when I sprain.... dislocate.... rip tendons...ect ect...They wish I'd just broken what ever...for breaks usually heal completely...all others....not so much...Now this year I dislocated pulling arm(shoulder) 6wks in sling and had my bow let down to 40#'s to be able to build back up to close to shooting weight by season...it worked well with one exception...also arm that the elbow years ago had been hyper extended...when hands at my side...the palm of my hand faced out away from body....that hurt...well the shoulder injury aggravated the old elbow injury causing a lot of nerve pain...ask about possible nerve damage and what can be done to relieve it...best of luck
  14. The reason I use mineral oil to season my pans....veggie and all other oils will become "sticky" after sitting a long while...not good...mineral oil never does this...I still uwse olive and grape oil to cook with....
  15. I will not cook in any frying pan that is not cast iron....I have hooks and all my pans big to small hang on the wall next to stove....I also only use "antique" pans that are well seasoned and smooth....I buy them at flea markets and garage sales...I NEVER wash them ..if some thing sticks ...I use that sea salt... big grinder stuff...sprinkling the pan and then take a paper towel and rub the salt all over the inside....easy breezy...I then take and heat the pan ...put a few drops of mineral oil in and rub the oil all over the hot pan then let sit...If a pan is in need of true reasoning it is bad to do on stove top...could warp the pan...oil it up and place in the oven on low heat for 1/2 to 1 hr... let cool slowly in oven...True health non stick surface
  16. Beautiful place...but I found out years ago.....If one can't afford to show a price...I usually can't afford to buy what ever is being sold...

Get Yours Now! Many people are talking about the "penny auctions" that are dominating the online auction arena. These auctions are so amazing in their ability to provide huge discounts on lots of great items such as electronics, toys, gadgets and more. It is almost scary the amount of goods these sites are practically "giving away." It is leading many to wonder are these sites for real? What is the catch? Surely these have to be illegal right? For those who haven't heard about penny auction sites or maybe aren't quite sure about exactly what they do and how they operate; allow me to share just a brief overview about penny auctions. The sites themselves are run by an owner or staff who sells new electronics, toys and other consumer goods at highly discounted prices. The items are listed on their site at different times throughout a day and users can bid on the items. Each auction has a set time that it runs; however, when a user bids on the item, the clock that is ticking down to zero jumps back up in time by a certain amount, usually 5 to 10 seconds. Every time the bid button is clicked the price for the item increases by a penny (one cent). Although, the cost for a user to click bid is usually $0.50 to $1.00, each time it is clicked. Bids are generally purchased on the site before a user begins bidding, however bids can be purchased during the bidding process as well. When there is only one bidder left, that person wins. So it sounds simple right? It sounds almost too simple doesn't it? That is what many critics of penny auction sites have claimed too. Many people wonder how can a penny auction owner sell an iPad for $1.67 and not lose money. Obviously, a quick math procedure tells us that the cost of that iPad is $500 and it sells for $1.67 so they are losing $498.33 right? Well, not so fast. The ability for both the seller and the buyer to benefit is found in the amount of bids that are used to buy the item. For instance if an iPad sells for $35 and each time a bid was placed the price goes up by $0.01 then that means 3,500 bids were used on that item ($35/$0.01 = 3,500 bids). And if each bid cost the users $0.80 roughly then the site actually made $2800 (3,500 X $0.80 = $2,800). So don't worry, the penny auction sites are legit and many are ready to provide great items at great prices. Now it should be noted that there have been some sites which have breached the code of conduct when it comes to honesty and integrity, but those sites that do so will not last because of negative word of mouth and loss of customers. If you are leery about a particular site you plan on using be sure to check out reviews at one of two places, http://www.pennyauct...uction-reviews/ or you can also browse over to [."]http://www.gottohalv...-sites-review]. 18. Who knows how many ppl have feeders out...but on us they are hitting a new late summer clover plot and really luv snow covered HSG
  19. There isn't much on that list we don't have on our property...but I'd have to take and put a few of those second choice foods and put them as preferred or readily eaten here
  20. The small ones are a single row of wht spruce...the big pines are Norway that were planted by the state decades ago..yes woods on neighbors land...the other pine plantations are red pines...wht spruce...and I think more Norway...some plant by the state others by owners...the farmer planted a hill side on us in red pine that has now matured to dying age...with hard maple taking over....I've planted groups of wht spruce and pine...spruce made it deer took out all the pine...one in pick is a wild one that grew...there are also Tamerac plantings the state did next to us
  21. No offense Four Seasons....grief from the owner would be the least of my worries...my FAMILY would never let me live it down...EVER! I've let deer that were 3x's better than the one I shot this year walk by ...just because they wouldn't cross a mere 10yrds over the line on to us first...now many are saying right now "idiot" but it's just I know my brain...it would eat away at me... a "do as......" thing.
  22. remember this summer well this was yesterday....all corn is gone...the grains....chicory...and clovers mowed....The turnips are actually still plentiful under the snow...but the deer are on other food right now thus the no prints...all in all I'm pleased with every thing but the sorghum....it grew great and yes was eaten ...but the seeds never matured for the turkey and the winds knocked them down...should hold some great mice and such for the raptors though...and squirrel and rabbits love it....
  23. Too bad she didn't get the other one as well...OMG...did you watch the second news story in that clip?!...It's a shame they weren't shot as well
  24. OK before this goes south let me change the subject a bit....Four seasons.....being a cervid farmer in NYS....what are the rules on escaped legally reg. /tagged live stock....what has NYS put in writing concerning the shooting of....even during a season?
  25. Not the riot but I bought the 2011 Mission Venture this spring...I dislocated my shoulder the day I ordered it and was out of commission 6wks...had them drop poundage to 40#...then before season up to 49#'s... took 2 deer with it this year...luv this bow...fast quiet and light
