perhaps some light 2 note yelps in combo with cluck purrs as if feeding...If you can entice a live hen in perhaps any toms in the area will come in as well.... I go out tomorrow to hunt the big bird in the area,,,hopefully he's still alive....gas over 4:05 per gal...not going to camp Thank You

Finally talked better half into going out...promise of warm dry shooting house...hhmmm better get the others done quick...may have lost my deer blind this year...lol any how ...I sat in turkey chair under blind and they were gobbling way early off the roost...3 all around us but one very close....so I did a couple of light calls and heard the fly down....10 mins to 6 and we were all done!....20-21lbs... 8 1/2 " beard but most of it was gone...and 7/8" spurs...Well he practically ran out of woods ....no pics quick kiss and thanks then out the door by 6:25....So I took measurements...pics and put the bird up....e-mailed them to him.... Reminded me of our daughter...went out opening morning of deer season 10mins ...shot and 8pt buck...first gun buck...went to camp showered and was at school by 9am.....lol Gidder done!

Contender nice bird! Congrats! Went out yesterday and called in a single hen we got to talking and a gobbler joined in ...she moved to my left and behind the brush blind and he came in from the left...at 30yrds he spotted my decoy and was turning when his head popped up and he fluffed..dang he spotted the live hen and was starting behind and away...I had a tiny opening but feared a bad shot ...so I decided when his head went behind a tree to stand/ turn shouldering gun....well...next thing I know ...It looks like two giant bullets going threw the woods...lol ...he was bigger than the first and had a nice beard.. Today 3 Toms gobbling ...called in a hen to the 2 decoys ...it rained the entire time....and stopped raining at 12:15pm Oh well...Toms circled ...one got good and close but the brush has seriously greened up and I couldn't see him..... I will be putting decoys away...I'm calling them in but once they see the decoy they hang up...and the live hens ...I'm no match for Good luck out there............

Also feeding them at the very end of a hard winter could seriously mess up their rumens if done wrong...stressing them farther or killing them with full bellies

6:05 A.M....I called him in off the neighbors property using my natural voice....it was a 32yrd shot and down he went.....21lbs....8in beard and 5/8 spurs....pics aren't the best but it was getting windy and Mr.B not familar with camera...I'm tired...1/2 mile hike back to house carrying him ...gun and gear...I need coffee Good luck everyone

Clothes out....calls out and I made a couple of carbon strikers today...gun is clean...shells packed....all blind seats are in...camera charged...snacks and cough drops packed....Cell phone charged and alarm set....Therma cell packed...and Bobbin head out and ready to go for later on.... Good luck one and all...don't for get the hunter orange for the walk out

I couldn't get to the article ...but the comments I read were all great and pro hunting...there are always going to be single minded..... my way or the high way types..... getting anger like them does nothing but put "us" in the same category as them....there were some very good positive comments and questions sent out as a rebuttals I find it amazing that some think allowing kids to apathy in front of a TV monitor viewing fake blood and guts relating life and death ..killing.. as simple as a push of a button is not harmful That teaching a child what the power and consequences of shooting a real weapon really is...Allowing them with guidance and reverence to life and nature ....to see real blood and guts in the taking of life. That it should only be done for the benefit of the species and use of the shooter....could possible ever be a bad thing....my Gosh....4-H must be some kind of evil cult then....for it was 4-H.. that taught our kids that bunnies and chicks weren't just an Easter gift no one should give....but live stock that were raised for food...the cute little pigglets they raised were to be sold and supply a family with winter meat...giving them money toward college...and keeping them strong in mind and body caring for them...not plumping up on a couch wasting their mental potential

What did you mean by bad results? Was it grow....fungus and bug attacks ...taste? Do you live with in 1/2 mile down wind of field corn?...for hybrid /field x pollination is a no..no if you want true tender sweet corn...it gets worse with the type of hybrid....se..sh2...su....Then you need to consider that if planting 2 different hybrids if they need isolation...su from sh2....se from su and sh2 ....other than that ...I like sugar baby and peaches and cream...gives me a longer season

Finger lakes area

Well today was the first good morning we've had around here...Toms gobbling near and far....couple of early morning shot guns went off as well > ....I sat with the favorite blind between me in the shooting house and our house and this is what I saw this morning......Now if the early morning shooting around here stops...I may get a bird before Mid to late May...May first really can't get here fast enough now ;D ....I know what direction some of them are traveling from and I think 2 nesting areas....Favorite blind will be off line...they were there again today when I was able to start back home...Oh well more turkeys for the future ..worth it

I was told some kind of notice was put out last year when the deal finalized....I've been searching but I can't find where.....I haven't been down there my self so don't know if any thing was actually posted at the lake it's self...didn't see anything on the DEC web page about removal but found this in the regulations

Well today I watched as my favorite blind was taken off line ....Heard the gobbles and a bit later got out binocs and spied a Tom ...jake and 2 hens....in a strutting zone...then they milled around a bit and the Jake left...the two hens started moving off toward the blind area and about an hour later I glassed the woods and caught movement...they both ...within 40yrds of each other had nested behind the blind...The Tom was hanging out... off a ways.. I am now going to have to go out tomorrow morning before light.... if weather permits.... to see where they are flying down and what direction they are moving in from....I've taken a few birds from that blind area.....sly devils :'(

Finally gone but it did snow several days last week a couple all day long...just glad the wind has calmed down

Lawdwaz.....You mentioned Canadice....well if you know some one with boats there....might tell them to pick them up or loose them....Know some one in the Rochester water works...from what I understand...DEC has asked them to get the boat situation cleaned up even if they need to scrap them... Looks like I'm not the only one that noticed boats around a lake....I'm sure it wasn't a problem before...but Hemlock and Candice were never advertised State wide as a State Forrest Destination...Now too many ppl know about NYS 2 pristine additions...got that info today
