  2. Need some advise on filing for a patent...anyone ever do this?
  3. thanks for sharing those pictures! It's amazing how just two months ago those bucks couldn't tolerate each other and now they are best friends lol.
  4. I need more cover in my top field, so I'm planting around 5 acres of NWSG. I know it will take a couple years but should be worth it.
  5. they do have a large buffet! Thinking of cutting back but not sure? With the deer numbers I have most of went to waste this year. Still fun to plant.
  6. long main beams....good luck! which WGI are you using?
  7. I have two boys 5 and 2. Bought my 5 year old his first bow. He will be by my side in the blind turkey hunting this spring!
  8. I was out this past weekend looking for sheds. Bucks still holding at my place.
  9. Got picture of this guy also on January 20th! should be a good one next year!
  10. that will work but make sure the discharge side is firmed up or it will wash out.
  11. Hinge cutting provides cover, food and allows sunlight to reach the ground.
  12. Good stuff. One of the best things you can do on your property and all you need is a chainsaw.
  13. use the vented tubes or make holes in them. You can also buy the mesh tubes at ben meadows.
  14. CBX, MDC has good quality trees. I order from them. When you place your order they will ask you when you want them delivered. I get mine the end of March to the first week in April. Once, they come keep them in the packages in a dark place and get them in the ground no more than 7 days. Good luck. Don't forget about tree tubes.
  15. I got into habitat improvements because I'm a hunter. I also bought my land because I'm a hunter. So the percentage of me planting plots would probably be 0% if I wasn't.
  16. The carryinig capicity is valid however a large portion of hunters who own land in NY have under 50 acres to hunt. It is very difficult to calculate CP on land under 50 acres or even more. With that said nautural browse is always the first step to manage any property. Anyone can do it and it doesn't take huge expensive equipment. Planting plots for some is a means to attract and kill deer..Yes. But for others it's part of their management plan. I take great pride in my habitat improvements and will always include foodpots as a tool to help meet my management plan.
  17. Great buck but too young....get's a pass one more year. Very cool pictures.
  18. Planting Oats this early you're taking a chance of them ranking out. Unless you have a high deer population that won't let them get above 8-10 inches. I love oats....the deer really hit them hard early season. I plant them the last week in August-Labor day. At 6-8 a bushel you can't go wrong.
  19. 9ohp, diesel, power shift, runs good. $6,800.00usd
  20. Buckwheat is a good plowdown crop. It will add organic matter to your soil. It also supresses weeds. Plant it when soil temp is over 60deg. Cut and plow under 50-60 days later. You will get a volunteer crop but the 1st frost will kill it. Deer in you area may eat it. Another plowdown/soil builder is berseem clover.
