  1. Very few things in life can live up to these experiences, maybe when my son gets his first, he's only 3. Congrats buddy!!!
  2. Looking forward to Friday and Saturday. Headed back to camp for one last try. Not sure when I will be back down. I don't enjoy firearm season too much... Either way, sounds like the bucks are on their feet so lets hope for another weekend.
  3. Hi Friends, headed back to camp tonight. I took several days off with these temps. Is it just heating (no pun intended) up out there or is chasing phase slowing down?
  4. Congrats, what is an appropriate tip or do they charge?
  5. On a hook next to the tree my stand is in. I can grab it and stand without taking my eyes of the deer.
  6. I agree. Wait, wait and wait. No reason to search. Sure about vital shot, 2-3 hours. Unsure or questionable, 5+ hours.
  7. Just passed a spike at 10, then watched him make small scrape.
  8. Corr,I think you will be ok. You have to get out, dont push any further.
  9. Good amount and great looking blood. Hard to say. Back out for awhile and return.
  10. I passed a 7 and 4 point, they are searching and seeking, no chasing yet for my hill.
  11. Hmmm. I would bet we are still a bit out. If you buy into the moon/daylight, this was suppose to be a synchronized rut. I would say they've barely started. This week, I'm hoping anyway.
  12. My guess is that the holes in the rim are slightly elongated and possibly need a stud or two.
  13. Geez, you'd think the rut is going to explode any moment!!!
  14. Welcome. It's a great site and very informative. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. It's time in the woods and it's time at the right time. That right time would be right now until about mid November. You'll get a shot at a buck if you are fortunate enough to put time on stand. Good Luck!!!
  15. That's why we keep going... So much fun. I won't be out until Monday but I'll be at camp for 14 straight days!!!
  16. Jeremy, thanks for the info. Did you happen to notice any rubs/scrapes?
  17. Nope. He sent it to me saying from PA. I don't know the details, I posted because we all love hunting and deer.
  18. My buddy sent this to me just now. 40 point from PA.... Wow, what a buck!
  19. If you re-read the thread from the beginning you will see I absolutely never criticized and wouldn't. I am not concerned on how he shot it or why. I'm hoping he gets a recovery. We all have been sickened by a bad shot or lost recovery... Good Luck...
  20. You have my adrenaline going with this story. Good luck tomorrow, can't wait to see him!!!
  21. Everyone is spot on! What 100% of the time it is lethal. Any living animal cannot survive this. The deer will actually die from Septicemia - blood poisoning from bacteria. If you hit stomach it will take 6-8 hours minimum. If you hit intestines it will take even longer, up to 12 or so. It is absolutely crucial you didn't push the deer. Once again, as the veterans above have stated, the deer will usually bed within 150 yards of impact and die in that exact bed if not pushed. If you have water around when you search make sure to look there. Deer will always crave water with this trauma as they will get an incredible fever and feel the need to drink.
