Wanna hear my story about being 33 and never hunting before?
Taylormike replied to Rockspek's topic in Deer Hunting
Nice job! Enjoy those moments, I have a feeling you are hooked now... It truly is an amazing sport and depending how much you and your son get into it, it can evolve into your life. Nice tractor too!!! -
Well you took 3, so that's three less. It was a terrible winter, which really hurt. Also, sometimes we just can't explain. Hunting is hunting...
-
Glad to hear you are ok. Continue to get strong, next season will be on us before you know it.
-
Same as I always do. Bow, from my treestand, my true passion!
-
I feel for your buddy, unfortunately I think the story will always have a disappointing ending. If the guy finally gives in and gives him the rack it's only a band-aid and doesn't change the fact the deer went to waste, wasn't tagged and isn't a successful harvest. The only thing that heals this, is time and redemption, he needs to go out and shoot another. Sorry to sound harsh, I just wouldn't be overly enthused no matter what.

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong

Looks nasty, go get that cut cleaned up... -
I'm not concerned with ticks. By all means, I dislike them but I think there not a as much as a threat as you might think. There are several variety ticks. Of those ticks, the likely hood of them carrying the lyme virus is very low. If it was that big of a problem, you would have to imagine all processors would be infected...

Burmjohn, your cabin is beautiful. Love the workmanship and style, great job!
-
It's a terrible and traumatic experience. I'm very sorry... It's almost impossible to rationalize but these things are material items. You have your friends and family, truly the only thing that matters!!!
-
Hate idiots that intentionally show off their deer... we all see them every year!
-
As terrible as the weather has been for hunting, I'll take it. Now let's hope for early spring. Finally a break for the deer...

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong
Taylormike replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
That's bizarre. I would say had to have been born that way. I mean, what do I really know....!?!? I would think there would have to be some evidence of injury or trauma. If it's a yearling I don't think she'd survive an injury like that, especially with last winter. I'm going to assume she was like that at birth. Anymore information would be interesting. Thanks, kind of cool in a weird way. -

I'm in 9P, I haven't received doe tag in two yeats which is good. Last two winters hurt the deer population in my opinion. -
determined. You guys and gals really need to be acknowledged at how hard and dedicated you still are at the end of season. I mean, I hunt archery very hard and then maybe a day or two with the gun but to continue all the way up to the end is awesome. I love reading the live thread and notice sightings are a rare thing this late but you keep at it... Go shoot some some big guys!

Btw, this year I had to drag my Brothers big bodied 4 point about 700 yards and my Dad wasn't even at camp with us. It all works out..
-
I prefer what we do at camp. Whoever gets the deer, gets to relax go back to camp, sleep, eat, whatever he chooses. The others, usually my Dad and Brother are the ones dragging or vice versa. I guess it pays to be the better hunter and thank god I am...

I have some rough terrain and desperately needed the bush hog. You can only handle manual labor so much. I should be able to cut in 2 hours what was taking me 8. Plus, my body isn't destroyed afterward.
-
I'm doing my first this year. I don't expect it to be that great! After getting results from my soil sample, it is going to take a year or two for the lime to neutralize the PH. I'm still going for it. At this point, I have to establish one. You should too!
-
Nodeer, thanks, I do appreciate the offer. Wolc, I've been reading 8n's eare phenomenal machines.
-
Now this is something I am going to have to look in to. Having someone experiment with it first might be my best option.
-
WNY, I wouldn't say a ton, but definitely rocks in my soil. I'm not opposed to a tiller, all implements in one is quite attractive... It's ideal, however, I would hate to have issues with it after purchasing.
-
I had no idea. Get them at Tractor Supply?
-
. How hard to install the coupler?
-
Ok, you get lime bulk delivered or bags?

I don't think there's a full proof way. Be friends with the neighbors, don't piss off the locals and make things difficult for them. Gate at the driveway. Maybe keep a small radio playing. I actually knew someone who had loud radio playing, ran it off of a small solar panel.
